Before you connect the GIpro harness to the bike’s wiring harness, install the supplied 3-pole plug adapters as per this document. Installing the plug adapters is a simple and reversible process. No need to cut or splice any wires. Please follow the install steps below.

  1. Gain access to the Gear Position Switch (GPS) connector.
    a) ZX-10R (2004-2005):
    – Remove the seat, fuel tank, and airbox.
    – Locate the 4-pole green connector behind the second throttle body from the left, under the fuel rail.
    b) ZX-14 / ZZR1400 (2006-2015), Concours 14 / 1400GTR (2008-2016):
    – Remove the seat and the three-body panels around the fuel tank (left & right grills, left inside fairing cover).
    – Locate the 4-pole green connector on the left side, above the front sprocket cover.

  2. Disconnect the GPS coupler. You may need a small flat head screwdriver to get the coupler apart.
Make sure the gearbox is Neutral and turn the ignition switch ON.
Wait a few seconds. The Neutral indicator should NOT be lit with a disconnected GPS coupler. After confirming this, turn the ignition OFF and proceed to the next step.

  3. Hold the smaller 4-pole green plug facing you, with the locking latch on top. Release two female terminals out of the four:
    – Green with Red stripe
    – Black
To release a terminal, raise the plastic lock pin above the terminal with a small flat head screwdriver and pull the wire out GENTLY through the back.

  4. Insert the two female terminals (which you released in the previous step) into the smaller 3-pole plug adapter supplied through the back until they click into place. The diagram below shows the lead orders with the front of the plug facing you:

  5. Hold the larger 4-pole green plug facing you, with the locking latch on top. Release two male terminals out of the four:
    – Green with Red stripe
    – Black, Black/Yellow or Black/Blue
To release a terminal, raise the plastic lock pin above the terminal with a small flat head screwdriver and pull the wire out GENTLY through the back.

  6. Insert the two male terminals (which you released in the previous step) into the larger 3-pole plug adapter supplied through the back until they click into place. The diagram below shows the lead orders with the front of the plug facing you:

  7. Reconnect the 4-pole green connector.

  8. Connect the GIpro plugs to the 3-pole plug adapters.

  9. Neatly route the GIpro cable from the plugs to the mounting location, preferably along with the frame. Do not route the harness very close to the exhaust pipe or cylinder head.

  10. Connect the GIpro Red wire to an ignition switched +12V power lead by using the Red wire tap connector supplied.
Usage: Place the unstripped bike wire (switched +12V) inside the run channel. Close the side cover until latched. Cut off the excess length, then insert the unstripped tap wire (GIpro Red) completely and check its position. Insert the blade (u-contact) and press down with finger pressure. Then, fully depress the u-contact with pliers. Close the hinged top cover until latched.
The power must be ON even when the engine run switch is switched off. We recommend tapping the Brown wire (on the ZZR1400 2012+ models only, tap the Blue wire) at the 2-pole rear brake light switch connector.

  11. Clean the mounting surface with soft cloth. Peel off the green plastic from the back of the unit and mount the display (apply pressure for about 10 seconds). Alternatively, you may use the extra sticky pad (supplied) to mount the display to the side of the dashboard.
Note: The GIpro unit is programmed via the Touch Sensor located at the top side of the unit. If this area is not accessible after mounting, program the unit before mounting. Refer to the User’s Guide.

  12. Secure the cable with the cable ties (supplied) starting from the display to the plugs, ensuring that the steering movement is not restricted by the cable. Do not allow direct contact between the engine (cylinder block) and the harness.

  13. Make sure that all connectors and hoses are in place under the fuel tank while lowering the tank.

  14. Turn the ignition ON, have the engine stop switch in the RUN position, and put the side-stand in an upright position. The display should count up and then indicate the actual gear (“0” in neutral).
If the display does not light up, disconnect the connectors and check whether the connector pins are bent or pushed out of position. Spray some contact cleaner into the plugs. Check that the GIpro red wire gets +12V.

  15. Secure the fuel tank and install the seat.

  16. When the installation is complete, refer to the User’s Guide for instructions.
Note: If the unit does not indicate the gears correctly with the pre-set gear position values, you’ll need to start the Learning procedure.
