PREFACE

This device (machine) was designed by our technicians and manufactured in our establishments having an experience of decades and taking care to meet the highest quality standards. Our ISO 9001 certified quality system allows you to control all business processes for continuous improvement of the quality and safety of our products. Immediately read this brochure which will help you familiarizing with the machine which, if installed and used correctly according to the instructions, shall not present risk situations or danger for the user. It is important to always observe the contained instructions and that in no way the user accesses inside the compressor – condenser compartment and to tamper with the control and safety devices. We recommend carefully reading our warnings for a correct and better use of your ice maker so that it operates for a long period of time without causing problems. If you need to contact the manufacturer or a designated representative, always quote the model and serial number of your appliance (fig.12).

Machine operation

Ice cubes are formed in a special copper hive shaped vertical evaporator. A recirculation pump makes a continuous flow of water run over the front grid and, gradually, part of the water turns into ice on the inner walls of the small cells, forming cubes that reach the expected size in height. The size of the block of ice depends on the set water level (which indicates how much water is transformed into ice); the sensor consists of two metal blades powered by a low-voltage circuit, isolated from one another and immersed in the water in the basin (Fig. 13). As the ice forms, the water level decreases, until it no longer closes the electronic circuit, which simultaneously causes the following:

  • it sends the hot gas to the evaporator by opening a solenoid valve causing the block of ice to gradually detach.
  •  the action of an electromechanical pushing device which helps to detach the blocks of ice from the evaporator.
  •  opening the water drainage valve to eliminate any residual impurities.

Once the block of ice has detached, it moves towards the outside of the front deflector and falls into the container by gravity. The central deflector as it turns first forwards and then backwards, opens and closes the contacts of a micro magnetic switch, connected to an electronic board, which resets the normal ice production cycle. When the container is full, the last block of ice keeps the deflector open and so the microswitch contacts stay open. In these conditions, the electronic board stops the machine after 30 seconds. Removing the ice from the storage bin allows the deflector to return to its normal position and the ice maker to restart. The time for the complete cycle may vary from about 15’ to 30’ depending on the water and ambient temperature. If the machine stops due to irregular operation, the illuminated area of the capacitate button lights up with a particular sequence of colors indicating the alarm in progress. Never shut off the water when the machine is operating and do not obstruct the air intakes. When restarting a cold cycle or switching to standby, the machine will perform a defrost cycle to prevent ice from accumulating on the evaporator.
Note: In the case of production control with a sensor in the bin (optional), after collecting the ice, remove any ice residues from the control bulb so that production
can resume faster.

Warranty

For the general conditions of the warranty, please contact your local official distributor. In case of replacement of components, always ask for original spareparts.

  11. Connect the 3/4” supply pipe (supplied) from the machine to the water supply line (Fig.7-6).
    • Attach the flexible hose to the machine’s discharge fitting (Fig.7-8). For a perfect water intake from the device, provide a minimum 3% incline of the pipe checking that it is not subject to bottlenecks or siphoning. The pipes should discharge into an open siphon (Fig.7-10). For appliances with water condensation systems, attach:

  12.  a 3/4” pipe from the condensation water supply to

  13. a 3/4” pipe from the machine connection (Fig.7-7) to the drain (Fig.7-10) or to a condensation water recovery system, if present. For practicality and safety reasons, it is recommended applying a shut-off valve, not supplied by us (fig. 7): 1. switch; 2. socket; 3. plug; 4. water supply; 5. tap.

  14.  Apply on the machine drainage fitting the supplied flexible tube with an inside diameter of 20 mm and of a suitable length (not exceeding one meter from the machine) to reach the drain trap

  15.  If the supply water contains a lot of impurities, you should install a filter on the water supply network upstream of the device. (Fig.7 – Ref.11)

  16.  If the water is very hard, i.e. full of minerals and their derivatives, you should install a suitable water softener on the water supply to prevent limescale from forming in the water circuit.

  17. In order to avoid that the ice absorbs unpleasant odours and flavors, never keep in the bin food, bottles and other similar things.

  18. During the normal operation, do not leave open the door of the ice bin.

Connection to the electrical power supply

We decline any liability for damages to persons, animals or things resulting from failure to ground the equipment and the performance of an electrical system which is not compliant with applicable regulations. Install an omnipolar mains disconnection device in the power supply system which provides full disconnection under category III overvoltage conditions in accordance with current regulations. The connection to the power network must be carried out in accordance with applicable national regulations and by qualified and authorized personnel. Before connecting the equipment to the power network, make sure that the network voltage corresponds to the one indicated on the identification plate (Fig. 12). Check that the electrical system is adequate to the maximum absorbed power of the equipment indicated on the identification plate. If the power cord of the equipment appears to be damaged, it should be replaced with another one having the specifications compliant with the regulations in force in the country of installation and the replacement should be made by qualified personnel so as to prevent any risk to the persons. The earth conductor must be correctly connected to an efficient earthing system. The manufacturing company declines any liability and any responsibility in terms of warranty if damages to the equipment, persons and things are found, caused by an incorrect installation and/or an installation which is not compliant with the laws in force. This device must be installed in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 in Australia and New Zealand.

COMMISSIONING

See the illustrative figures.
Before electrically connecting the machine, make sure that the network voltage corresponds to the one indicated in the identification plate placed on the back
of the device (fig. 12).  The maximum permitted tolerance on the voltage variation is of ± 10% of the rated value. Provide an electrical supply circuit to the machine with its own main omni polar switch in order to guarantee an opening distance of the contacts which allows the full disconnection under the conditions of the overvoltage category Dimension the circuit according to the amperage indicated on the identification plate (fig.12). The electrical socket must be easily accessible

  • Check that the compressor is free to oscillate on the rubber pads placed on the relevant anchor brackets and check that the blades of the electric fans move freely.

  •  Check that the mains water tap is open, then place the machine’s power plug in the socket.

  •  If the machine is in standby, the illuminated button (fig. 9) will flash every 30″. To exit standby and to finally start the machine, press the luminous switch for at least 3 seconds, until the start of the machine is signaled with a long beep (fig.9).

  •  For clarifications on what the flashing of the button means, see the Alarms chapter. Check that the water flow runs regularly on the evaporator and that there
are no leaks in the circuit.

  •  Check that no abnormal vibrations are caused

  • Check an ice production cycle, making sure that the block of ice is discharged into the storage bin and that all the cycle operators occur normally.

  • Check that the “microswitch” function is working by lifting the splash guard deflector up for more than 30 seconds.

  • Clean the inside of the water recirculation tray and the deflector with a sponge dampened with warm water plus a little bicarbonate of soda; rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.

  • Clean the inside of the ice storage bin with a sponge soaked in warm water mixed with a little bicarbonate of soda; rinse with clean water and properly dry.

  •  Re-assemble the panels that were removed beforehand.

  • Do not use the first 5 ice cube cycles for human consumption.

  • Never shut off the water when the machine is operating and do not obstruct the air intakes.

  • In order to prevent the ice from absorbing unpleasant odors and flavors, never keep it in a food, bottle and other similar bin.

Check the tightness of the straps, nuts and bolts, screws and clamps that may have come loose during transportation to avoid water leaks or other problems during machine operation.
Note: For a perfect water outflow from the device, provide a minimum 3% slope of the pipe checking that it is not subject to bottlenecks or siphoning. It is recommended that the pipe discharges into an open siphon (fig.7). The normal stop of the production of ice can occur either when the machine switches to standby mode, by pressing the illuminated button for 3 seconds, or when the ice bin is full, which is indicated by the following:

  • The evaporator deflector fails to close due to the accumulation of ice
  •  If there is a sensor in the bin, the sensor set point is reached (it is usually optional). If the ice maker is equipped with a temperature probe in the ice bin, the machine and the ice production stop when the sensor comes into contact with the ice that has accumulated in the bin. After removal, clear the control sensor from any ice residues so that production can resume faster. Never stop the water with the machine into operation, do not obstruct the air suction inlets.
  • Check that there are no abnormal vibrations due to loosened screws.
  • In case of intervention due to water leaks, tightening of screws or other, always stop the machine first.
  • Check an ice cycle by checking that the cubes are discharged into the bin.
  •  If present, check the operation of the bin probe: lay an ice cube on the bulb inside the bin, the ice maker should stop within 1 minute and restart automatically after its removal, in a short time.
 Ice cubes adjustment

As the room temperature changes, the size and weight of the ice cubes may in turn change. To adjust this size and weight, follow the procedure below:

  • a) Press, with the machine running, the button (Fig.9) 3 times within 2 seconds; the button will take on a color between white and red.
  • b) To decrease the weight of the ice cube, press the button, making the color increase towards red; to increase the weight, press it until the color approaches white. After 5 seconds of no pressing, it saves and exits the modification phase. (fig.9)
Water hardness indication

To extend the routine maintenance interval, it is possible to indicate the water hardness level, so that the machine can decide which water renewal process to
activate for each cycle, in order to reduce the salt concentration level in the water and the consequent deposit of limescale:

  • Press, with the machine running, the button (Fig.9) 6 times within 2 seconds; the button will take on a color between white and red.
  • To indicate that the water has a high concentration of salts, press the button (Fig.9), making the color increase towards red, otherwise press it until the color approaches white, for water with a low concentration of salts. After 5 seconds of no pressing, it saves and exits the modification phase.
Bin Probe Adjustment (optional)

Over time, due to the variation in the ambient temperature, the set of the bin probe, which stops production, may not be sufficient. To adjust this value follow the procedure below:

  • a) Press, in standby, the button (Fig.9) 3 times within 2 seconds; the button will take on a color between white and red.
  • b) To increase the set T°, press the button (Fig.9), making the color increase towards red; to decrease it, press it until the color approaches white. After 5
seconds of no pressing, it saves and exits the modification phase.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operations, disconnect the machine from the power supply by operating the main switch and unplugging it.
If the socket is at a distance or in a position that cannot be controlled by the operator or the appliance is not equipped with a plug, a device for electrical padlocking must be installed to avoid accidental connection of the appliance.

Operations to be performed by the user

External body cleaning

  • in order to clean the body, it is enough to use a cloth soaked into a specific chlorine-free product, for stain less steel.

Cleaning the air filters

To ensure that the ice maker works correctly in terms of performance and duration, the air filters located on the side walls of the ice maker must be cleaned (Fig.11).
To remove the filter, simply pull it out and wash it with a jet of warm water, then dry it before putting it back. Recommended frequency: operation to be performed every 10 days. or in any case according to the working conditions of the appliance (the presence of dust and flour in the work environment of the appliance affects dirt accumulation in the filter).

Cleaning the ice container

  • Remove the ice from the bin. Clean the inside with a sponge moistened in warm water combined with a little baking soda;
  • rinse with clean water and properly dry it.
Operations to be performed by the enabled installer I

Hereinafter we present a list of routine maintenance operations which must be performed only by authorized installers. The manufacturing company declines all responsibility for incidents caused by the failure to comply with the above-mentioned obligation.

Cleaning the air condenser (if present)

  • In order to make the most of your ice maker in terms of performance and durability, it is necessary to periodically clean the air condenser placed at the back of the
    ice maker (see fig.18).

  •  do not use brushes or blunt objects to clean the condenser (fig. 17).

Cleaning the water inlet filter

  • Close the water shut-off valve to the device, remove the water inlet pipe and extract using pincers the filtering trap placed on the water inlet solenoid valve.
  • clean the trap with water jet and mount it back in its seat.
Ozone activation (optional)

If the ozone generator is installed, it shall be activated periodically in the following sequence: 5 hours inactive, 1 hour active. The sequence is synchronized with the first power supply of the machine (power-ON).

Cleaning and sanitizing cycle

To remedy the problems caused by the hardness of the feed water and therefore the formation of impurities on the parts and components in contact with the water, the machine has been equipped with a “self cleaning” function. This function, thanks to the cleaning action of a specific product, a sachet of powder product and the dosing bottle, allows the machine to be kept clean and sanitized from limescale and scale. To guarantee good cleaning of the ice maker, it is recommended performing a cleaning cycle at least 3-4 times a year depending on the hardness of the feed water. Cleaning kit (optional) The kit consists of a plastic bottle with a rubber tube, a 1 kg box of citric acid and the instructions for the cleaning cycle.

Take the necessary precautions when handling the citric acid when preparing the solution (water+ citric acid, please see the table) wearing safety gloves and glasses.
WARNING: In the event that a cleaning cycle is started accidentally (by pressing the button for >9″), there are two ways to exit the procedure: 1) after about 1h40′ by pressing the button for 3″ the machine will go back to standby, and by pressing it for 3″ again, the production cycle will start 2) after 2h 30′ the machine goes into standby automatically, and from this condition it is possible to start the production cycle by pressing the button for 3″

  1.  Turn off the machine.
  2. Remove the ice from the bin.
  3. Using the specific product and the plastic bottle, prepare the solution by dissolving the powder in warm water (max. 40°C). Mix the whole thing paying attention that no clumps are formed.
  4. Pour the cleaning agent in the evaporator tray (fig.14-3).
  5.  Turn the machine back on, and if it is not already, put it in standby (fig.9).
  6. Press the standby button for at least 9” to start the cleaning cycle
  7.  During the cleaning cycle, the button will flash as follows: off for 1 second and on (white) for 3 seconds. Once the cleaning cycle is finished, it will go into standby.
  8. Empty the evaporator bowl by removing the cap (Fig. 14-2), then replace the cap and pour clean water into the tray in an amount equal to the capacity of the bowl.
  9.  Repeat the cleaning operation without adding citric acid to eliminate the presence of the descaling and sanitizing agent.
  10.  After this period turn off the machine and remove the cap (Fig. 14-2) to drain the water from the evaporator bowl again. Finally, replace the cap.
  11.  After the cleaning operation, rinse the bin thoroughly. I If the appliance is left unused for long periods of time:
  12. turn off the machine;
  13. remove the ice from the bin;
  14. drain the water;
  15. clean thoroughly;
  16. leave the door of the bin slightly open

Troubleshooting

THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS SHOULD BE PERFORMED EXCLUSIVELY BY QUALIFIED AND AUTHORISED PERSONNEL. I IN CASE OF INCORRECT OPERATION, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO DISCONNECT THE MACHINE FROM THE ELECTRICAL AND HYDRAULIC SUPPLY NETWORK.

Alarm

| Machine status|

Solution

---|---|---
(AL01) Alarm: cold cycle too long| Machine stops in standby; a simple press of the button restarts the machine.| Decrease cube size, check cleanliness and ventilation of condenser, check for gas leaks, check ice sensor and relative wiring.
(AL02) Alarm: cold cycles duration difference| Machine continues to work; reset alarm by pressing button| If the machine started hot, or the size of the cubes was changed, check for alarms after 3 continuous cycles, check cleanliness and ventilation of condenser, check water temperature if stable, check for gas leaks, check positioning of ice level sensor.
(AL03) Alarm: no water (if sensor present)| Machine stopped or waiting for an automatic start-up attempt| Check water supply, check for water leaks in the circuit, check operation of water inlet valve and clean water filter, check position of sensor.
(AL04) Alarm: ice bin probe faulty| Machine stopped| Check probe-board connection, check probe integrity, check that the ohm value read is correct, replace probe – By checking beforehand that there is space in the bin, two ice production cycles can be started by pressing the button
(AL05) Routine maintenance request| Machine continues to work| Call technical assistance for periodic maintenance (reset the message by pressing the button for 10 seconds)
(AL06) High temperature at condenser outlet| Machine stops, condenser fan remains on to lower the condenser temperature, or water valve remains open in case of water condensation. (once it has cooled down, the machine restarts making a few attempts to see if the alarm is no longer present, then it stops permanently)| Check cleanliness and ventilation of condenser, check that the condenser fan is turning, check position of condenser probe; in water-cooled versions, check the water supply and operation of the water inlet valve.
(AL07) Condenser probe alarm| Condenser probe faulty or outside allowed value range, the machine works with continuous ventilation or water inlet always activated.| Check condenser probe-board connection, check that the ohm value read is correct, replace probe.
(AL08) Evaporator probe (if present)| Evaporator probe faulty or outside allowed value range, the machine works with historical data if necessary| Check evaporator probe-board connection, check for ice cube accumulation in the evaporator area, check that the ohm value read is correct, replace probe.
(AL09) Blackout – No power supply| The machine will resume operation in the state before the power failure.| Check the electrical connections and power source. (To remove the alarm message, press once to silence the buzzer, press again to remove the message if within the first minute, second press only if the minute has already passed).
(AL10) High pressure alarm| The machine stops, the condenser fan remains on to lower the condenser temperature, or the water valve remains open in case of water condensation. (once it has cooled down, the machine restarts making a few attempts to see if the alarm is no longer present, then it stops permanently)| Check cleanliness and ventilation of condenser, check that the condenser fan is turning, check position of condenser probe; in water-cooled versions, check the water supply and operation of the water inlet valve, replace maximum pressure switch.
---|---|---
(AL12) Long defrost alarm| Machine stops after a number of long consecutive defrost cycles.| Check deflector micro for faults, check deflector micro wiring on board, check for gas leaks, check efficiency of pusher and hot gas valve
(AL13) Capacitate sensor| Machine stops| Check sensor-board electrical connection, replace sensor.
(AL14) Condenser cleaning| Machine continues to work| It is advisable to clean the condenser or air filter, or in water-cooled versions, check whether the water supply is sufficient or too hot
(AL15) Probe reversal| Machine stops| Check probe wiring on board, exchange or replace if necessary
(AL16) IR probe faulty| Machine stops| Check probe-board connection, check probe integrity, replace probe – By checking beforehand that there is space in the bin, two ice production cycles can be started by pressing the button
