Games Integer Board Game Project
Teacher Instructions
Your students have been chosen to create a board game for a math company to help promote learning integers in a FUN way. They need to design and create this to present to the company to see which group will be chosen.
- Break your students up into groups of 2 or 3.
- Each group will need:
- One copy of the Student Directions Worksheet
- Copy of the Student Job Cards
- One copy of the Group Worksheet
- Crayons, Markers or Colored Pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- Colored Paper
- Access to a digital device (if possible) to type directions/materials list
- One copy of each of the four-game boards (optional – encourage students to get creative and use cardboard or other items)
- Each group will:
- Design their own integer operations game that must include all four operations and include the use of positive/negative integers and the order of operations.
- Write detailed directions on how the game should be played.
- Include a materials list of everything in the “box”
- Each group should:
- Either use dice or some form of cards with problems on them.
- Ideally, the answer a student gets will indicate their movement forward or backward on the game board.
- Come up with a creative theme for their board game’s world: space, a carnival, the beach, etc.
- Test their game out! They should play it and make sure it works and is fun.
