120 cards and game rules

THE OBJECT OF THE GAME:
Try to be the first to lose all your cards

PREPARATION

Shuffle the 120 cards thoroughly and deal the cards evenly to the number of players taking part. So if there are three players, then each player gets 40 cards. Each player makes a pile of his cards and places them in front of them, with the numbers facing down. Game tip: you can decide to play with fewer cards by removing one or more sets of 15 cards. That’s how the game goes faster. So you can play with two players with 60 cards (4 x 15) or three players with 90 cards (6 x 15).

BASIC PLAYING RULES
Determine which player can start first. This game is played in the clockwise direction. When it’s your turn, turn over the top card of your pile. You keep the card with the number visible to all players in your hand, and you see what you can do with it.
There are two places you may place your card:

  • Open pile of cards of your fellow players Is the number of your card 1 higher or 1 lower than the number that is on one of your fellow players on the open pile?
Then you can put it there. (see also image 1)

  • Rows in the middle

  • As soon as the number 1 is turned, it will be placed in the middle of the table. From that moment on, all players may place a card on this pile, if the number is 1 higher than the card that is there. You start with the number 1; after this a 2 is placed on, then a 3, up till 15. (See image 2) You cannot place a card anywhere? Then your turn is over and you put the card in front of your closed pile with the number facing up. This will be your open pile. Now it is the next player’s turn. As long as you can place cards with other players or in the middle, you can always turn over a new card until you can not continue. Is it your turn and have you used all the cards on your closed pile? Then you leave the last card of your open pile facing up and you turn the rest over, creating a new pile of closed cards. You can now carry on playing the game.

Note : once you have placed a card on your own open pile, your turn is over. If you then see that you could still have placed the card, this is not allowed!

Placing cards with your fellow players
With your fellow players, you may place cards that are 1 digit higher or lower than the number on the open pile.
Example : It is player 1’s turn in figure 1. He turns a 6. A 6 may be placed on the open piles on both a 5 and a 7. In this case, you can choose on which open pile you put your card: this can be done with player 2 and with player 4. You can bother players who have few cards! Note: you can not make series on your own open pile.

Rows in the middle
In the middle of the table all players make consecutive rows of numbers 1 to 15. On the number 1 a 2 is placed, and then a 3 etc, until the number 15 is placed on it. If there is a completed series on the table, it can be put away.
In the example for image 2, player 3 has turned a 2. A number of rows have already been formed in the middle. Player 3 can put his number 2 on the 1 in the middle.
You win the game if you have lost all your cards.

GAME TIPS FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS

For advanced players there are additional tips that make the game more dynamic:

  1. Place cards from your open pileGames-Clown-15-Go-FIG-1
When it’s your turn, you can first see if you can lose the card from your open pile. Is this the case? Then you can continue until you can no longer place a card. In the example for image 3, player 1 is next. He first looks at his open pile. The number 2 can be placed in the middle, and the 8 can be put on the open pile of player 2. With the 5 he can not do anything. After this, player 1 may turn over cards from his closed pile until he can no longer place a card. (See image 3)

  2. Place cards on your own open pileGames-Clown-15-Go-FIG-2
If you turn over a card from your closed pile, you can also place it on your own open pile, if this card is 1 higher or lower than the card that is there. Do you have a 5 on your open pile and turn a 4 or a 6? Then you can put this card on your open pile.

  3. Taking cards from your fellow players
If you put in the middle during your turn, you can also use cards from the open cards of your fellow players. With picture 4, player 4 is next. On his open pile is a 10. He can now put the 9 of player 2 in the middle, so he can put the 10 on it. (See image 4)Games-Clown-15-Go-FIG-3

  4. Collecting points
In the basic game the object is to lose all your cards, but this variation is about earning points! You can also win, if you are not the first to lose all your cards. You also carry on playing until all the cards are finished; you do not stop when the first player has already played all his cards.Games-

Row in the middle in one color
In the basic game, you put the cards in the middle with a random color, but in this version, you can try to make a series in one color! So: on the green 1 a green 2 is placed, up to and including the 15. This gives the player, who places the 15, a lot of points!

The scoring goes like this.

  • Lose all of the cards The first to lose his cards gets 30 points, the second player who loses his cards 25 points, the third 20 etc.
  • A multi-color series 1 to 15 in the middle If you are the player who completes the series in the middle (with the number 15) you get 15 points. After you have placed the 15, you can take this pile and put it down next to you.
  • A series from 1 to 15 in the middle in 1 color If you are the player who completes the series in the middle with the number 15, and all cards have the same colour, you get 150 points.
  • Everyone counts their points at the end of the game. The player with the most points wins!
