Product Usage Instructions
Setup:
- Shuffle the Scream cards and place them face-down on one side of the board for the deck.
- Remove Scene cards that don’t match the number of players.
- Shuffle and place Scene cards face-down on the other side of the board.
- Each player places one Scene card face down in front of them.
- Each player draws three Scream cards into their hand.
- The player who most recently used a knife takes the Knife marker.
- Download the free SCREAM The Game app for additional instructions and gameplay.
How to Win:
The game is cooperative and played in real-time. Work together to complete all
scenes before time runs out. If any player is killed or the scenes are not
completed in time, you all lose.
Starting the Game:
Ensure all players know how to play. Start a new game in the app, select the
number of players, and have each player enter their name. Place the app device
near the board and press BEGIN.
On Your Turn:
- Draw one Scream card from the deck. If the deck is empty, flip over the discard pile to create a new deck. You can also trade one card with another player by exchanging cards from your hands.
- Remember to communicate with other players about the cards you have and what you need to complete scenes and stay alive!

Q: Can players refuse to trade cards?
A: Players cannot refuse to trade. Each trade must involve both players exchanging one Scream card. -
Q: What happens if a player is unable to complete a scene?
A: If any player doesn’t have the necessary cards and gets killed, all players lose the game.
SETUP
- Place the Location board in the middle of the play area and place the Ghost Face® figure next to it.
- Shuffle the Scream cards and place them in a face-down deck on one side of the board, leaving room for a discard pile.
- Remove any Scene cards that don’t match the number of players, returning them to the game box. For example, in a 5-player game, remove the Scene cards with 6P+, 7P+, and 8P in the bottom right corner. In an 8-player game, don’t remove any cards.
- Shuffle the Scene cards and place them in a face-down deck on the other side of the board, leaving room for a discard pile.
- Each player places one Scene card face down in front of them— don’t look at it yet!
- Each player draws three Scream cards into their hand. You can look at the cards in your hand but do not show them to other players.
- The player who most recently used a knife takes the Knife marker, inserts it into its base, and stands it in front of themselves.

HOW TO WIN
- The game is cooperative and played in real-time. That means players are racing against Ghost Face to stay alive—probably not a good time to pop your popcorn. Work together and play as fast as you can to draw and trade for the cards you need. If you complete all the scenes before time runs out, and before any player is killed, you all win!
- As you play, Ghost Face will call players using the app. You can discard cards to avoid Ghost Face. But if any player doesn’t have the cards they need and they get killed, you all lose!
- This game is tense and fast-paced. Before you begin, be sure all players know how to play. You can read these instructions or watch the How to Play video. Then start a new game in the app. Select the number of players and have each player enter their name or nickname.
- When all players are ready, place the app device near the board, then press BEGIN. Everyone flips their Scene card face up, and the player with the Knife takes the first turn. Hurry to stay alive!
ON YOUR TURN
Do one of the following:
- Draw one card.
- Trade one card.
- Complete your scene.
Then pass the Knife to the player on your left. Now it’s their turn. A player can’t take their turn until they have the Knife—so hurry!
Tip:
Throughout the game, you can talk to each other about what cards you have and
what cards you need. Work together to complete scenes and stay alive!
DRAW ONE CARD
Draw the top Scream card from the deck. If you choose to draw a card when the deck is empty, flip over the discard pile to make a new deck.
Each Scream card is one of five items: Keys, Phone, DVD, Blood Drop, or Popcorn. Some cards also have Ghost Face, which is riskier to have in your hand—more about that later.
TRADE ONE CARD
Give any player one Scream card from your hand. Before taking your card, they must give you one Scream card from their hand. Players cannot refuse to trade. You cannot give a card without getting a card in return, which means you cannot trade with a player who doesn’t have any cards in their hand.
COMPLETE YOUR SCENE
Discard cards from your hand that match each item on the Scene card in front of you. Place the completed Scene card in the discard pile and immediately draw a new Scene card from the deck, placing it face up in front of you.
If the deck is empty, continue playing to help the other players complete their scenes. If all the scenes are complete, all the players win!
Example:
A player discards two Blood Drop cards and two Phone cards to complete their
scene. They discard the Scene card and then draw a new one from the deck.
GHOST FACE
At random times, Ghost Face calls in the app to taunt, threaten, or stalk the players, as explained below. Whenever Ghost Face calls, everyone must STOP PLAYING! After you listen to Ghost Face’s instructions, make sure everyone is ready, then continue taking turns from the player with the Knife.

TAUNT:
Ghost Face taunts players with too many Ghost Face cards. To taunt you, Ghost Face will tell you a number. If you have that many Ghost Face cards or more, you must discard your entire hand. (Don’t draw replacement cards.)
Tip: Try to avoid having more than two Ghost Face cards in your hand at one time. -
THREATEN: Ghost Face threatens players at his location. To threaten you, Ghost Face will tell you his location. Place the Ghost Face figure on that location of the board. If your Scene card shows that location, you’re in danger! When Ghost Face calls again, he will name one item.
- If your Scene card shows his location, you must discard that item from your hand. If you don’t have that item, you must discard your entire hand. (Don’t draw replacement cards.)
Tip: Players with a Scene card showing Ghost Face’s location can try to get one of each item, or complete their scene before he calls again.

STALK: Ghost Face stalks a player. To stalk you, Ghost Face will name a specific player and several items. Place the Ghost Face figure in front of that player. Then keep taking turns, and try to get that player the matching items in time! When Ghost Face calls again, that player must discard those items from their hand. If they don’t have all the items, they are killed, and all players lose the game!
Tip:
If the stalked player has fewer cards in their hand than the number of items
they need, take turns as fast as possible so they can draw enough cards. Then
trade cards quickly to get them the items they need.
ENDING THE GAME
Players have limited time to complete all the scenes and avoid Ghost Face.
Once the end is near, a timer will appear on the app. If time runs out, or any
player is killed, all the players lose.
As soon as all the scenes are complete, press the button in the app. The game
is over and all the players win!
HARD MODE
If you’re ready for more of a challenge, select Hard Mode in the app when you start a new game. You will have less time to win, and Ghost Face will call more often.
