Version**

  1. USB PORT – Connect the USB port of the device to an available USB 2.0 port on your computer (preferably a port on the rear panel).
  2. AUDIO INPUTS (red and white) – Use standard RCA cables to connect these left and right audio inputs to the left and right audio outputs of your playback device. Be sure to match the colors properly – red to red (right channel), white to white (left channel).
  3. COMPOSITE VIDEO INPUT (yellow) – Use a standard composite video cable to connect this input to the composite video output of your playback device.
  4. S-VIDEO INPUT (black) – Use a standard S-Video cable to connect this input to the S-Video output of your playback device.
Connection Types

There are two kinds of video connection types: RCA(Composite) or S-Video. You only can choose one of them.

  • RCA(Composite) Connection:

  • S-Video Connection:
If your camcorder has a standard S-Video output connection, use the appropriate S-video and composite audio connection(White & Red Port). An extra S-video cable is necessary for it.

S-Video cables can transmit a higher quality video signal than regular RCA (Composite) cables, but they do not carry an audio signal. RCA (Composite) audio cables are still required when you are making an S-Video connection.

NOTES:

  • To capture a video’s sound, connect the left and right AUDIO INPUTS to the left and right audio outputs of your playback device.
  • To capture video with scart output, you should buy one scart-composite converter.
  • Please don’t connect composite video and S-Video at the same time.

Installation Problems

It is recommended to disable any Anti-Virus or other background software you may have running while installing this software. Otherwise, this can cause the software to run to exhibit unexpected or unpredictable behavior.

  • Install the driver
Before you connect the UCEC Video Capture Pro Version to your computer, please insert the “CD-ROM” into your CD drive or send us a message to get the driver.
Select the option “PC/Mac Driver”. Follow the “Next” prompts then click “Finish” to end the driver installation, you will need to restart the computer.

  • Access Denied error:
Verify you are logged in as an Admin user for the computer.

  • No Product Key:
Check on the back of the envelope that the Install CD was packaged in. If not, please contact us, and we will provide you with the new product key.

Video Problems

No video:

  • Check your cable connections to make sure they are secure.
  • Verify you are connecting your cables to the ports labeled “Output‟ on your video player.
  • Verify you are only connecting one type of video cable, RCA (yellow) or S-Video.
  • Verify the output ports of your video player work by testing them with your television.
  •  Verify the UCEC Video Capture is plugged into your computer directly and not through a USB hub.
  • Check your video & audio device settings from the Record Settings control panel.
  • Disconnect additional monitors
  • Uninstall the driver and then, you can insert the video capture card again.

*** If the above steps can’t solve this problem,
For Windows Computer Users:
Have you used the old UCEC Video capture or any other video capture device
before?
If yes, you need to uninstall their driver, if you don’t know how to uninstall the
driver, you can contact us.
If not, you can contact us, we send you the repair tool.

2.1 Black & White video:

  • Verify your videotape was recorded in the same video standard format for your region. If it was not, see the Converting PAL/NTSC (and other video standards) section in the appendix.

2.2 Choppy video or Choppy audio:

  • Mute all audio sources (except the video capture device and Desktop Audio Device)
  • Verify your computer meets the program’s minimum system requirements. Avoid the following actions while recording and burning:
    – Run other applications in full-screen mode.
    – Run CPU-intensive programs.

Distorted lines at the top or bottom of the screen:

  • Clean VCR/camcorder tape heads.
  • Adjust VCR/camcorder video tracking.
(These lines are not usually visible on a regular television because a TV typically presents in overscan mode – causing the edges of the video to be out of view)

2.3 Can’t recognize this video capture when is plugged into any of the USB Ports?
If you use a Windows computer, you need to uninstall all software and drivers of any video capture devices. And then you can insert our video capture card again and the driver will be installed automatically.

How to uninstall the driver?

  1. Insert the video capture into the USB port of your computer.
Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

  2. Select Device Manager.

  4. Reboot the computer. And then, you can insert the video capture card and the driver will be installed automatically. And then you can install the software, Honestech VHS to DVD 5.0. You can try to capture the video again.

If you don’t know how to uninstall their driver, you can contact us.

Converting PAL / NTSC (and other video standards)

The VHS to DVD software is capable of recording NTSC, PAL, and many other video tape standards from around the world. It is possible, however, that your computer system may not correctly recognize the video signal from a tape made in a foreign country. In this case, you would typically experience black and white video.
Change Video Standard (stand-alone) – You may or may not have already noticed that the VHS to DVD software included an additional utility program called Change Video Standard. Before accessing the utility, please be sure to first close down the VHS to DVD program. To access the Change Video Standard utility, click the Start icon in the bottom left corner of your screen and select “All Programs‟ from the Start Menu.
From the list, locate and highlight Honestech VHS to DVD 5.0 SE, among the four items that will appear, should be Change Video Standard. If the VHS to DVD program is closed, select the Change Video Standard utility to open it.
