Instruction Manual ****

SAFE 1 – S2H DYNAMIC BT (0000 884 0478)

STIHL mesh visors and STIHL plastic visors

This Instruction Manual is for STIHL mesh visors and STIHL plastic visors. Read this Instruction Manual through carefully and keep all the product information in a safe place so that you can refer to it at any time. This product is in compliance with the PPE Regulation 2016/425 and other appropriate directives to fulfill the requirements of CE marking. The complete Declaration of Conformity is available at the following internet address: www.stihl.com/conformity
The level of protection is indicated by a marking on the face shield. Please refer to the table at the end of this Instruction Manual for an explanation of the level of protection. For traceability, please refer to the date clock in the visor frame.
Test institutes:
DIN CERTCO Gesellschaft für Konformitätsbewertung GmbH, Alboinstraße 56, 12103 Berlin, Germany, Notified body no. 0196
Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH), P.O. Box 40 (Topeliuksenkatu 41 B), FI-00251 Helsinki, Finland, Notified body no. 0403
Mesh visor: The mesh visor provides protection against low-velocity flying particles hitting the face from the front or side. The mesh eye and face protector do not protect against liquid splash (including molten metal), hot solids, electrical hazards, and infrared and ultraviolet radiation.
Plastic visor: The plastic visor provides protection against low-velocity and medium-velocity flying particles, dust, splashes, and molten metal droplets hitting the face from the front or side. The plastic visor does not provide protection against electric arcing or particles thrown at high speed. Check each time before using the face shield that it is in perfect condition (for example, the visual state of the face shield). If the face shield is damaged or has been altered, it must be disposed of immediately. The visors can only be used together with STIHL carriers. The SAFE 2 carrier can only be attached to the FUNCTION Basic helmet. For visual details on assembling the visor and visor carrier, please refer to the images in the beginning of this manual.
WARNING!
When subject to high-speed particles, impacts may be transmitted when wearing a visor over standard ophthalmic spectacles, creating a hazard to the wearer. If the impact marking F or B is not followed immediately by the letter T, the visor should only be used against high-speed particles in room temperature.
Material that comes into contact with the skin can cause allergic reactions in sensitive users.
The visor does not provide adequate protection against particles thrown into the air at high speed. Eye protection in compliance with EN 166 must be worn whenever you use a brush cutter, edger, clearing saw, blower/mist blower or cut-off saw. STIHL recommends additionally wearing safety glasses complying with EN 166.
To avoid damage to the material do not allow this face shield to come into contact with pointed or sharp objects (chain saw chain, metal tools, etc.) or aggressive substances such as aggressive detergents, acids, oils, solvents, fuels, etc.
Contact with hot objects (exhaust, etc.) and other sources of heat (open fire, stove, etc.) should also be avoided.
When products with different marks are combined, the mark of the lowest protection class applies. Visors with symbol 9 (molten metal droplets) must be fitted to a carrier marked F or B together with symbol 9. Visors with symbol 8 (short circuit electric arc) must be fitted with a filter of scale no: 21,2 or 3-1,2 and have a thickness of 1,4 mm.
Any modifications to the face shield can impair the protective effect. Therefore do not modify the face shield in any way. If the face shield has been modified, it must be disposed of immediately.
No personal protective equipment can ensure total protection against injury. The level of protection depends on a large number of factors. This face shield is no substitute for a safe working technique.
Improper use of a power tool can result in accidents. It is therefore essential to observe the safety regulations issued by the respective authorities (employer’s liability insurance associations, etc.) and the safety instructions in the Instruction Manual of the power tool being used.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Wash and clean the visor after use. Take care not to scratch the visor. Clean with a mild detergent (soap). The detergent used must not irritate the skin. Dry with a soft cloth. Do not use hard clothes as they could scratch the visor. Regular maintenance and cleaning ensure a high level of wearing comfort. Incorrect cleaning and care can impair the protective function of the face shield. Clean and care for this product exactly as instructed.
Transport and Storage
Suitable packaging protects the face shield during transport. The face shield should preferably be stored in its original packaging in a well-ventilated, dry room. Do not expose it to extreme temperatures, liquids, or UV radiation.
Service life
It is not easy to predict the service life of a visor. In outdoor use, we recommend replacing the visor at least every two years. In demanding conditions it may be necessary to replace the visor more frequently. A visor that is damaged, scratched, or has been exposed to impacts must be replaced immediately. Always use original STIHL parts.
