If you intend to use the apparatus in residential surroundings supplied by the low voltage mains supply, an electromagnetic filter may be required to suppress electrical disturbance to a level where they will no longer be a nuisance to the user.
The apparatus may be used in industrial or other areas where power is not supplied by municipal LV mains.
Class A apparatus are not intended for use in residential areas where power is supplied via municipal LV mains, since unfavourable power conditions may cause interference. As a user, you must make sure, after consultation
with your energy provider, if necessary, that your
point of connection on which the machine is to be
operated meets the requirements above.
The user is responsible for faults arising from the cutting.

Specified Conditions of Use

The plasma cutter with constant voltage characteristic may only be used to cut electrically conductive metals using air.
Only use the flame-cutting torch supplied.
Ambient temperature -10 °C – +40 °C
Relative air humidity max. 50 % (40 °C), 90% (20 °C)
Altitude above sea level max. 1000 m
The ambient environment must be free from abnormal amounts of dust, acids, corrosive gases

Requirements for operating staff

The operating staff must carefully read the Opera-ting Instructions before using the appliance.
Since the use of the device if handled incorrectly can entail considerable risks, only knowledgeable persons may be entrusted with the use of it.
The operator must be appropriately trained in setting up, operating and using the machine.
Qualification: Apart from the detailed instructions by a professional, no special qualification is necessary for appliance using.
Minimum age: Persons over 18 years of age can only work on the appliance. An exception includes youngsters trained in order to reach knowledge under supervision of the trainer during occupational education.
Training: Using the appliance only requires corresponding training by a professional or the Operating Instructions. No special training is necessary. The operator is responsible for accidents or risks to third parties.
Instructions for the installation and oper-ation of an arc welding device to prevent possible electromagnetic interference:
As the manufacturer, we recommend that the following assessments and measures be carried out by a qualified electrician.

General
The user is responsible for setting up and operating the arc welding machines/cutting equipment in accordance with the manufactur-
er’s instructions. If electromagnetic interference is detected, it is the responsibility of the user of the arc welding machines/cutting equipment to find a solution with the technical assistance of the manufacturer. In some cases, the measure needed may simply consist of earthing the welding circuit (see note). In other cases, it may
include complete electromagnetic shielding of the power source of the arc welding machine/cutting equipment and the workpiece, combined with input filters. In all cases, electromagnetic interference must be reduced until it no longer causes any disturbance.

Note
The approach taken to earthing the welding circuit depends on the local safety regulations.
Changing the earthing to improve electromag-netic compatibility may increase the risk of accidents or damage to equipment.

Assessing the surroundings
Before setting up the arc welding machines and/or cutting equipment, the user must assess possible electromagnetic problems in the sur- roundings.
When doing so, the following factors must be taken into account:

  • other mains cables, control cables, signal and telecommunication cables above, below and next to the arc welding machines and/or cutting equipment;
  • Audio and television broadcast transmitters and receivers;
  • Computers and other control devices;
  • Safety equipment, e.g. protection for commercial facilities;
  • the health of persons nearby, e.g. those using pacemakers and hearing aids;
  • Calibration and measurement equipment;
  • the resistance of other equipment in the vicinity to interference. The user must ensure that other equipment used in the environment is suitable for such a purpose. This may require additional protective measures;
  • the time of day during which the welding, cutting, or other activities must be carried out.

The extent of that surrounding area that must be considered depends on how the building is constructed, and the other activities taking place there. This area may extend beyond the limits of the premises Evaluation of the welding machine / cutting equipment In addition to the assessment of the area, the arc welding machines/cutting equipment can be evaluated to assess and resolve cases of interference. An assessment of electromagnetic interference should include in situ measurements, as specified in section 10 of CISPR 11:2009. In- situ measurements can also be made to gauge the effectiveness of any minimization measures implemented. Guidance for minimization measures:

Public power supplies
Welders machines/cutting equipment should be connected to the public power supply as per the manufacturer’s recommendations. If there is any interference, it may be necessary to take additional precautions, such as fitting filters for the mains connection. Consider shielding the mains cable of permanently installed welding machines/cutting equipment with a metal pipe or similar. The shielding should be electrically connected for its entire length. The shielding should be connected to the welding machine/ cutting equipment power source to achieve good electrical contact between the sheath and the housing of the welding machine/cutter power source.

Maintenance of the arc welding machines/cutting equipment

Arc welding machines/cutting equipment should be regularly maintained as per the man- ufacturer’s recommendations. All access and service doors and covers should be closed and well secured when the welding machine/cutting equipment is in operation. With the exception of the changes and adjustments specified in the manufacturer’s instructions, the welding ma-chines/cutting equipment should not be modi- fied in any way. In particular, the spark gaps of arc ignition and stabilisation devices should be adjusted and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Welding cables should be as short as possible, close together, and should run across or near the ground.

Electrical bonding
The electrical interconnection of all metallic parts in and next to a welding machine/cutting equipment should be taken into consideration. Metallic parts connected to the workpiece can increase the risk of the welder receiving an electric shock from touching these metallic parts and the electrode at the same time. The welder should be electrically insulated from all of these connected metal parts.

Earthing the workpiece
It may be that the workpiece is not already to earth for reasons of electrical safety or because of its size and location, e.g. a ship’s hull or steel structures. If so, grounding the workpiece can reduce emissions in some, but not all, cases. Ensure that earthing the workpiece does not increase the risk of accident for the user or cause the destruction of other electrical equipment. If necessary, the work- piece must be grounded by a direct connection to the workpiece. In countries where a direct connection is prohibited, the connection should be achieved using suitable capacitors, selected
in accordance with national regulations.

Screening
Selective screening of other cables and equipment in the vicinity can reduce irradiation. The screening of the entire welding/cutting set-up may be considered for special applications.

Residual Risk
Despite the observance of the operating instructions there still may be some hidden residual risks.
Even when the plasma cutter is operated properly, there are still residual risks associated with the use of the device. Even when the plasma cutter is operated properly, there are still residual risks associated with the use of the device

  • Eye injuries as a result of glare,
  •  Touching hot parts of the device or the workpiece (burn injuries),
  • In the event of improper protection, the risk of accidents and fire as a result of spraying sparks or slag particles,
  • Emissions which have adverse health effects as a result of smoke and gas, in the event of lack of air and/or insufficient extract ventilation in closed rooms.

Reduce the residual risk by operating the plasma cut-ter carefully and properly and follow all instructions.

Emergency procedure
Conduct a first-aid procedure adequate to the injury and summon qualified medical attendance as quickly as possible. Protect the injured person from further harm and calm them down.

General Safety Rules

WARNING! Electric shock! There is a risk of an injury caused by electric shock!
WARNING
Read all safety warnings and all instructions.  Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
Keep your work area clean and tidy. Untidy work-places and workbenches increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. The device and packaging are not toys Do not look into the arc without eye protection; only use welding protective shield with the proper protective glass pursuant to DIN. The arc also emits UV radiation, in addition to light and heat radiation, which may cause glare and/or burns. The invisible ultraviolet radiation causes very painful conjunctivitis, which is only noticeable a few hours later, if sufficient protection is not worn. In addition, the UV radiation causes damaging sunburn to areas of the body which are not protected.  Comply with the local injury prevention regulations and safety regulations in the work area.
Please note that permissible uses for the tool could be limited by national regulations.
Do not use accessories which are not specifically desi-gned and recommended by the tool manufacturer.
The device may not be placed in a narrow space or directly against a wall during functional operation. Only in this way can it be ensured that sufficient air gets into the opening slit.
CAUTION! Improper handling may lead to the plasma cutter overheating or to material damage.
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
Check the machine for any damage
WARNING The power cut-off should always be in the “off” position when the machine is left unattended.
The appliance must not be used if damaged or safety equipment is defective. Replace any worn-out and damaged parts.
The device must not be operated if it is damaged
in any way. Repairs and works specified in these Instructions may only be performed by qualified authorised staff.
Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or bin-ding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use.

Electrical safety

Operation is only allowed with a safety switch against stray current (RCD max. stray current of 30mA). Insert the plug of the electrical cable in a socket of suitable shape, voltage and frequency complying with current regulations.
Incorrect electrical installation, a supply voltage which is too high or incorrect handling may lead to an electric shock. Any electric shock may be fatal. Use extension cables with a maximum length of 5 meters and with a cable cross-section of not less than 1.5 mm2. Use of extension cables of different length and cross-section and also of adapters and multiple sockets should be avoided. Warning: This power tool generates an electromagnetic field during operation. Under certain circumstances, this field may affect active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury, we recom-mend that individuals with medical implants consult your physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant before operating the machine. Persons with life support devices such as pacemakers should consult their doctor before approaching this apparatus, to ensure that magnetic fields and high electrical currents will not interfere with such devices.

Caution! Danger due to electric shock!
It is essential to take into account that the protective conductor in electrical systems or devices may be destroyed by the cutting voltage in the event of negligence:

  • If the arc is not burning, the no-load voltage between the earth terminal and the contact tip is U0. This voltage may be fatal if the welder touches the contact tip, burner nozzle, welding wire and the workpiece with bare hands.
    e.g. the earth terminal is placed on the plasma cutter housing, which is connected with the protective conductor of the electrical system. The welding work is carried out using a machine with a protective conductor connection. It is therefore possible to use the machine for cutting work without having affixed the earth terminal on the machine.In this case, the cutting voltages moves from the earth terminal to the machine via the protective conductor. The high welding voltage may lead to the protective conductor melting.

  • The fuses on the supply lines to the power sockets must comply with the regulations (VDE 0100). Therefore, according to these regulations, only fuse and/or automatic circuit breakers which correspond to the wire cross-section may be used (16 ampere circuit breakers).

  • A fuse which does not correspond to the system may lead to a cable fire and/or building fire damage.

Only connect the plasma cutter to a socket which is easily accessible so that you can quickly disconnect it from the power grid in the event of a fault.
Overloaded supply networks and circuits may lead to faults for other users during the cutting process. In case of doubt, the electricity company must be consulted. Do not operate the plasma cutter if it has any visible damage or the power cable and/or mains plug is defective.
Check the cable and/or socket for damages before the appliance putting into operation.
Cables must always be fully unwound in order to prevent the hazard posed by increased electroma-gnetic fields.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. Lay the power cable so that it does not become a trip hazard.
Do not bend the power cable.
Protect all cables against oil, sharp edges and high temperatures.
Defective cable or plug may cause electric shock.
Do not pull the service cable to pull the plug out of socket.
The power supply cable is a high-quality cable which must not be damaged. When carrying out your work, ensure that you do not contact the cable with hot objects. If the connection cable is damaged, this must be replaced with a special connection cable which can be obtained from the manufacturer or its customer service department.
The connection cable may only be replaced by the manufacturer or its customer service department or individuals with similar qualifications.

Safety instructions for plasma cutters

WARNING! Risk of fire! Improper handling may lead to serious fires or injuries!
IP21S protection degree of the welder. The welder must not be exposed to rain and moisture when being operated or stored.
Check the voltage. Technical data given on the type label must correspond with electric network voltage.
Ensure the welding cable, tip, burner and earth terminal are in excellent condition. Any wear to the insulation and the live parts may create a dangerous situation and reduce the quality of the welding work.
The use of this device may lead to wear on certain parts. Therefore, it is important to check the device for any damage and defects on a regular basis.
Ensure that you do not come into direct contact with the welding circuit.
Protect the plasma cutter against moisture and only use it inside in dry conditions.
Never immerse the plasma cutter, the power cable or mains plug in water or any other liquids.
Never touch the plasma cutter or the mains plug with damp hands.
The no-load voltage between the contact tip and the earth terminal may be dangerous.
Never insert sharp and/or metallic objects into the device.
Do not expose yourself or other persons without pro-tection to electric arc or hot metal. Spraying cutting pearls may cause burns.
Contact with the hose bundle nozzle and the material being processed may cause burns.
A suitable welding shield, protective clothes and protective gloves to be worn at all times.
Work with an exhaust system or in well ventilated spaces.
Ensure that there are no persons who are not wearing protective clothing and eye protection within a range of 15 m of the arc. Protect yourself and any persons who are nearby against the possible hazards caused by the arc!

WARNING! Risk of injury Improper handling may lead to serious injuries!
Leave the cable assembly tip and workpiece to cool down after operation.
Fumes which may be harmful are released during arc welding.
Long-term working with the appliance may damage hearing. Hearing protection to be used at all times.
Avoid direct inhalation of gases. Long-term inhalation of welding gases may be harmful to your health.
Make sure the cutting smoke is exhausted or the place of cutting ventilated well.

Caution! Risk of accidents due to splashing slag particles The slag becomes hard and brittle after it has soli-dified. The slag hammer is then used to break the slag up into small pieces with sharp edges, which is associated with a risk of eye injuries.
Therefore, ensure that your eyes are protected with suitable safety goggles when removing the slag.
Burning slag and sparks may cause fires and explosions. The device must never be used in a flammable environment.

Caution! Risk of beams and burns

  • At the workstation, it is important to make reference to the risk of eye injury with a sign which reads “Caution – do not look into the flames!”.
  • The workstations should be shielded off as much as possible to protect people who are nearby.
  • Unauthorized persons must not be involved with the welding work.
  • In fixed workstations which are nearby, the walls should not be painted in a light colour and should not be shiny.
  • Windows must be protected against light shying through or reflecting beams up to at least head height, e.g. using suitable paint.
  • Keep the plasma cutter, the mains plug and the power cable away from open flames and hot surfaces.
  • Do not weld on containers, vessels or pipes which have contained flammable liquid or gases.
    Wood, sawdust, „varnishes“, petrol, kerosine, natural gas, acetylene, propane and similar flammable materials must be removed from the place of work and the surrounding area or protected against sparks flying away.
    To extinguish fire, a suitable fire extinguisher must be made ready nearby.

Caution! Fire hazard due to spraying sparks
If the molten or burning metal or slag particles land on flammable substances, these may ignite and cause a fire. Therefore, remove all flammable objects from your workspace before commencing welding work. Keep a suitable fire extinguisher to hand.
In this regard, take the following materials into consideration in particular:

  • Paper
  • Rags
  • Textiles
  • Wood and wood fibres
  • Rubber
  • Plastic
  • Petrol
  • Oils
  •  Tar-like substances
  • Paints and solvents

No cutting on vessels and pipes if they are open, containing materials able to explode due to heat or moisture or able to cause other dangerous reactions.
WARNING! No welding or cutting on closed vessels and pipes.

Caution! Explosion hazard and fire hazard due to welding sparks
Both the welding sparks and the welding point itself, which is heated to high temperatures, may cause explosions. Therefore, do not use the device in a potentially explosive environment where substances such as flammable liquids, gases and paint mist are present.
Please note:

  • When the plasma cutter is in operation, do not place the burner on the plasma cutter itself nor on any other electrical device.
  • Before finishing your welding work, do not touch  the contact tip itself nor any other metal objects which touch the contact tip.
  • Disconnect the power supply to the device im-mediately after completing your welding work.
  • It is essential to ensure that no cables become wrapped around your body.
  • It is essential to ensure that you are not within the welding circuit. The burner and earth must always be on the same side.

The plasma cutter may only be positioned on an even and flat base.
The respective national guidelines and laws must be observed when carrying out welding work. This relates, in particular, to the respective accident prevention provisions.
Welder may only be used on a flat surface and with a
properly secured gas bottle.
In order to prevent damage to the device, it must only be transported in an upright position.

Potential hazards

Only have work relating to the power supply, e.g. cables, plugs, sockets etc., carried out by an expert. This applies, in particular, to the creation of intermediate cables.
In the event of an accident, disconnect the welding power source from the mains immediately.
In the event of electrical contact voltage, turn the device off immediately and have it inspected by an expert.
Always ensure the electrical contacts are good with regard to the welding power.
When welding, always wear insulating gloves on both hands. These protect against electric shock (no-load voltage of the welding circuit), against harmful radiation (heat and UV radiation) and against burning metal and slag spray.
Wear sturdy, insulated footwear; the shoes should also perform their insulation function when wet. Low-rise shoes are not suitable since burning metal droplets which fall downwards cause burns.
Wear suitable clothing and do not wear any synthetic clothing.
Persons or assistants near to the arc must also be made aware of the risks and provided with the neces-sary protective equipment. If necessary, protective walls are to be constructed.
No welding work may be carried out on containers in which gases, fuels, mineral oils or similar have been stored, even if they have been empty for a long time already, as residues lead to an explosion hazard.
In spaces at risk of fire and explosion, special regula-tions apply.

Small and hot rooms
Caution! Danger of poisoning / Danger of asphyxiation

  •  Significant quantities of smoke and gases are created during welding work. Ensure that the smoke and gases can always be removed via a sui-table opening. However, an oxygen supply must never be added. This increases the fire hazard.

When using welding transformers for welding work in situations with an increased electrical risk, e.g.
in small rooms with electrically conductive walls
(boilers, pipes etc.), in hot rooms (sweat-soaked work clothes), the output voltage of the plasma cutter may not exceed 48 V~ in idling conditions (effective value). The device may thus be operated in this case on the basis of its output voltage in idling conditions.
When working in small or hot rooms, insulating bases and interim layers, as well as gauntlets made from leather or other non-conductive materials, are to be used to insulate the body against the floor, walls, conductive parts of the device and similar.

Protective clothing
Caution! Risk of accident due to spraying sparks
The spraying cutting sparks may lead to painful burn injuries.
Therefore, always observe the following instructions:

  • Always wear a leather apron.
  • Use leather gloves.
  •  Wear suitable head protection when cutting overhead.
  • Ensure that your trouser legs cover the tops of  your shoes.
  • Wear sturdy, insulating footwear.

Whilst working, the welder’s entire body must be protected against radiation and burns by means of the clothing and face protection.
Gauntlets made from a suitable material (leather) must be worn on both hands. These must not be damaged. Special welding gloves to be worn at all times. Suitable aprons must be worn to protect the clothing against flying sparks and burns. If the nature of the work, e.g. overhead welding, requires this, a protective suit must worn and, where necessary, this must also include suitable head protection.
The protective clothing which is used, as well as all the accessories, must be compliant with the “Per-sonal Protective Equipment” Directive (2016/425).

MAINTENANCE

Machine to be always unplugged before any adjustment and servicing work on it.
Prior to every use, visually check the machine to rule out any defects, in particular on the power cable and the plug.
WARNING The appliance must not be used if da-maged or safety equipment is defective. Replace any worn-out and damaged parts.
If necessary, a list of spare parts can be found at www. guede.com.
Repairs and works specified in these Instructions may only be performed by qualified authorised staff.
If the device is defective, the repair has to be made exclusively by the customer service.
Use only original accessories and original spare parts.
Never clean the machine and its components with solvents, flammable or toxic liquids. Us only a damp cloth making.
Use a soft brush to remove the deposited dust from the ventilation hole and moving parts after each use.
Only a regularly maintained and treated appliance can serve as a satisfactory aid. Insufficient mainte-nance and care can lead to unforeseen accidents and injuries.

If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order to avoid a safety hazard.

Storage

The appliance must be stored in a dry place and protected from frost.
Leave the device to cool after use.
Do not cover the device directly after use or place in a cabinet.
Lock the device in a proper place to protect it from unauthorised use.

Disposal

The disposal instructions are based on the icons placed on the appliance or its package.
Transport packaging disposal
The packaging protects the machine against damage during transport. Packaging materials are usually chosen based on environment aspects and waste treatment principles and are therefore recyclable. Re-turning the packaging into material circulation saves raw materials and reduces waste production. Parts of packagings (e.g. foils, styropor®) can be dangerous for children.
Do not dispose of electrical appliances in household waste; use the local collection points. Ask your local authority where the collection points are to be found. If electrical equipment is disposed of in an uncontrolled manner, weathering can lead to dangerous substances entering the groundwater and from there the food chain, or the flora and fauna can be poisoned for years. If you replace the device with a new one, the seller is legally obliged at the least to take back the old one to be disposed of free of charge.

Guarantee

Warranty period of 12 months applies to commercial use and 24 months applies to private use and commences on the day of purchase of the device.
The guarantee solely covers inadequacies caused by material defect or manufacturing defect. Original payment voucher with the sales date needs to be submitted for any claim in the guarantee period.
The guarantee does not cover any unauthorized use such as appliance overloading, use of violence, damage as a result of any unauthorized interference or caused by foreign items. Failing to follow the operating and assembly instructions and common wear are also not included in the guarantee.

Important information for the customer
Please note that returns within or outside the warranty period should always be in the original packaging. This measure effectively avoids unnecessary transport damage and any associated disputed ruling.
