BMI
The technology used in these scales, Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)
is more technologically advanced than the order Body Mass Index (BMI) method
where fat % is calculated using only height and weight. BIA technology uses 5
parameters to get a more accurate resolution for the analysis (weight and
biological resistance which are automatically measured by the scales together
with the three personal parameters entered manually – sex, height and age).
This index sets mutual ratio between the body weight and height.
It can be used to determine whether the person suffers from underweight,
overweight or obesity or whether his/her health condition is normal. Also with
regards to heart and vascular diseases, body mass index is a relatively good
risk index, particularly in healthy people.
However, the index is for reference only. Experts recommend supplementing the
calculation by at least measuring the waist, which makes determining
disposition of the body fat more precise. BMI will not provide very reliable
information for small children, elderly people and active sportsmen who have a
lot of muscle mass as their results can be biased.
BMI | Underfat | Healthy | Overfat | Obese |
---|---|---|---|---|
< 18,5 | 18,5 – 27 | 28 – 39 | > 40 |
Optimum energy consumption KCAL
It represents optimum amount of energy consumption necessary for maintaining
the basic vital functions and balanced metabolism. The data on the display
show the optimum daily consumption of energy that you give out at your weight,
height, age and gender.
You should also take in this amount of energy to keep your metabolism
balanced. If you intend to reduce your weight, your daily energy intake should
be a bit lower. However, remember to keep carbohydrates, fats and proteins
balanced in your diet. 239 cal = 1 kJ
Important notes:
- This scale requires you to weigh yourself barefoot for the reason of correct conductivity during the body fat analysis.
- Do not place the scale on an uneven surface or a surface covered with a carpet.
- Do not use the fat analysis feature on this scale if you are using one of the following devices: pace maker, electrocardiograph and/or other medical device implanted in the body or device used as support.
- Excessive drinking, eating, exercising, health conditions, used medicaments, women‘s menstruation cycle etc. influence the results of the analysis.
- Tables and information concerning optimum arrangement of body characteristics is only orientational.
PREPARATION FOR USE
Symbols shown on the display
- A – age

Remove all the packing material and take the scale out. Remove all possible
adhesion foils, stick–on labels or paper from the scale. Open the battery
cover on the bottom of the scale, insert the battery with the correct polarity
and close the cover in the opposite direction.
Place the scale on flat, stable and dry surface. Turn on the scale by tapping
your foot on the weighing surface and check the weight unit displayed on the
display (kg). If you prefer to set st:lb or lb unit, you can switch it over
after you turn on the scales (in weighing mode) by pushing one of the
directional arrow-button ( , ).
kg = kilogram 1 kg = 2.2 lb
lb = pound (British weight unit) 1 lb = 0.454 kg
st:lb = stone:pound (American/British weight unit) 1 st = 6,356 kg
FT;In = feet;inches 1 FT = 30.48 cm; 1 In = 2,54 cm
Replacing the batteries
Open the battery cover on the bottom of the scale (pic. 2). Insert a battery
with the right polarity and close the cover. Use AAA batteries (3 pcs) for
this appliance. If you are not using the appliance for some time, take the
batteries out!
Notes
- Do not combine various types of batteries. Do not even combine used and new batteries together.
- Batteries not intended for this purpose must not be charged.
- Remove the batteries if you will not be using the appliance for a long time.
- The supply terminals must not be short-circuited.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Your scale is fine electronic equipment. One of the things that are most difficult to weigh is human body as it is always in motion. If you want to obtain reliable results, always try to step with your feet at the same place on the scale and stand still (Fig. 1). If possible, weigh yourself at the same time of the day (best in the morning) and also on the same place to get comparable results. Remember that excessive clothes can increase your weight as well as eating and drinking before weighing. Short–term weight fluctuation is generally attributed to loss of liquids.
A) Regular weighing mode
Turn the scale on by stepping on the weighing surface. After a moment, the
measured weight flashes and the value remains displayed for several seconds.
Then the scale are switched off automatically.
B) Weighing and total body analysis mode
Setting (change) of personal data for the body fat and water analysis
Before the first analysis, it is necessary to put in personal data (sex,
height and age) which will be saved to the memory. It is possible to save data
of 10 persons in the scale‘s memory.
The input data can be set and gradually changed in the following range:
Memory | Gender | Height | Age |
---|---|---|---|
0 – 9 | male / female | 100 – 220 cm | |
3´03.5“ – 7´02.5“ | 10 – 80 |
-
Turn the scale on by stepping on the weighing surface.
-
Press the button.
-
Select the number of the memory (with button or ) to which you want to save the data for the person to be weighed.
Confirm by pressing the button. -
Set your sex with the or button: male / female
Confirm by pressing the button. -
Set your height with the or button.
Confirm by pressing the button. -
Set your age with the or button (Age)
Confirm by pressing the button.
Now all the personal data is saved (changed). Wait till 0.0 appears. Stand on the scale and wait for results.
The following data will start to show after a few seconds:
- – Weight in set units
- – Body fat contents in % (fat) + analysis colour signalization (blue=underweight; green=normal; red=overfat, obesity)
- – Body water contents in % (TBW)
- – Musculature contents in % ( )
- – Bone weight contents in kg ( )
- – BMI (Body Mass Index)
- – Daily kilocalorie requirement (KCAL)
The results will display in a cycle. After three repetitions, the scale will automatically turn off.
Notice
There must not be a contact between feet, calves or thighs. Otherwise the
measurement could be inaccurate.
For a repeated analysis of body characteristics (after saving the input data of the person to the memory – e.g. 1), proceed as follows:
- Press the button (if you were using the scale in the regular weighing mode).
- Wait for 0.0 on the display or choose the number of memory with the or button where your setting is saved.
- Do not press anything after selecting the respective number of memory (wait till 0.0 appears). Step on the scale and your weight and bodily characteristics will begin to be analyzed.
Note
The scale is switched on automatically if you do not step on it within approx.
10 seconds after „0.0“ is displayed. The scales can be turned off also by
pressing the button .
