APPLICATION
The multimedia speaker is perfectly suited for connection to a computer, tablet or mobile phone. It is connected via a wireless BT connection. It also features FM radio and USB/microSD music player functions. Its built-in battery can be charged using a USB cable.
CHARGING THE BATTERY
Charge the battery before use. Connect the USB cable to a computer or a mains USB adapter (not included). Recommended mains charger option: SA 24USB, SA 50USB. While charging, a red LED illuminates on the control panel. The charging time for a fully discharged battery is approximately 3 to 4 hours. After this time, but maximum 6 hours, unplug the charging cable. Charging does not turn off automatically, however, the battery is protected against overcharging. The fully charged battery ensures approx. 5-6 hours operating time. This also depends on the volume set, the mode selected and the ambient temperature. The test was performed by listening to the radio at medium volume and room temperature.
- It is basically not recommended to charge the unit during use. This will increase charging time and may cause additional noise and overheating. The radio reception quality may also deteriorate.
- After charging and use, switch off speaker using the slide switch) and unplug the charging cable.
- This equipment is designed to operate on battery power, recharging after use is recommended.
- To increase lifetime, keep the battery charged when the unit is out of use.
- The battery used is of lithium-ion type. It requires no maintenance. At the end of its service life, it can be replaced by a professional after removing the control panel. The cover is fixed with glue.
PUTTING INTO USE
Turn on the appliance using the slide switch on its back. An acoustic signal is played and BT mode is activated. A blue LED in the switch flashing fast indicates that the unit is waiting for BT connection. If the connection is not established in a few minutes, the LED will start to illuminate continuously, and the unit will exit the pairing mode.
VOLUME CONTROL AND FUNCTION SWITCHING
Volume control is implemented with a multifunction rocker switch. Hold it to the right or left until if you want to adjust the volume. When you have reached the desired volume, release it and it will return to centre position. Caution! If you rock the switch to one side for a short time, it will toggle the track or radio station, depending on the active mode.
You can select the function you want to use by repeatedly pressing and holding
this rocker switch vertically. Caution! If you press it only for a short time,
it will pause/ resume playback or search for radio programs automatically,
depending on the mode.
A voice announcement informs you about the current mode: BT – USB – microSD –
FM RADIO – BT… Available multimedia features: wireless BT connection,
USB/microSD music player, FM radio. Function associated with non connected
devices are not available. For example, MP3 mode without USB or microSD
storage connected.
WIRELESS BT CONNECTION
Within a maximum range of 10 meters, the unit can be paired with other equipment communicating according to the BT protocol. After pairing, you can listen to music played on your mobile phone, tablet, notebook or other similar device. Turn on the speaker and place the device to be paired next to it. Find nearby wireless BT devices, including this speaker, as described in the device’s operating manual. Connect the two devices. Successful connection is confirmed by an acoustic signal and the fast flashing blue LED starts to flash slowly.
: you can control the music player of your mobile device by vertically pressing the rocker switch briefly or by rocking it to the side quickly and releasing it immediately. This allows you to operate the play / pause / next / back function without touching your phone.
- The sound quality depends on the quality of the audio signal received from by the external device and its volume and tone settings.
- If the sound box receives weak signal (low volume), it may cause extra noise, while a too large signal may cause distortion. It is recommended to keep the volume of the source at medium level.
- One sound box can be paired with one BT signal source at a time.
- If the wireless connection is lost, turn BT mode off and back on, if necessary, on either the speaker or your mobile device.
- If you receive a phone call to the connected mobile phone while listening to music, the music will pause. After your conversation, restart playback if it does not resume automatically.
- The actual range depends on the other device and the environmental conditions (e.g., walls, human bodies, other electrical appliances, motion…
- Electrical devices operated nearby may cause abnormal operation or noise; this does not indicate a malfunction of the sound box!
- Abnormal operation may be caused by the individual characteristics of the external device; this is not a sign of product malfunction. In certain cases, the BT functionality may be limited, depending on the external device.
USING THE RADIO
The radio has a built-in antenna, however, we recommend plugging in the charging cable and use it as an external antenna. Position this as high and straight as possible, as if you adjusted an antenna. Select the FM radio mode with the (MODE) button. For this, you have to press and hold the protruding middle part of the rocker switch several times. Do this always to select the function you want. To start automatic tuning and storage, press the same button ( ) briefly. Wait a few minutes. Later, you can access the stored programs by repeatedly rocking the switch to the right or left briefly. Depending on the program slot, you may need to press it many times to find the program you want. Remember that pressing and holding the switch will adjust the volume.
- The search stops when it detects varying signal strength – this does not always mean that a radio program is found.
- The reception capability of the radio largely depends on the place of use and the current reception conditions.
- Do not place large metal objects or electrical equipment close to the device.
- Orient the appliance appropriately to achieve the best reception. The positioning of the equipment also affects the quality of reception.
MP3/WAV PLAYBACK from USB/microSD STORAGE MEDIA
The player is ready to play when the device is switched on. Carefully insert the USB or microSD memory and the unit will automatically switch to USB/SD mode and start playback. If necessary, press and hold the button to activate the function. To start or pause playback, briefly press the button, and you can select the desired track using the toggle buttons . If you press and hold the latter for a long time, you can change the volume here too.
- The recommended file system for the memory is FAT32. Do not use an NTFS formatted memory card.
- If the device does not play sound or does not recognise the USB/microSD memory, remove it, then reconnect the memory and select it again with the button. If necessary, turn the power off and on again.
- Only remove the external memory after switching to a different source with the MODE button or switching off the player. Otherwise, the data may be damaged. Do not remove the connected external unit during playback!
- The USB/microSD device can only be inserted in one way. If it stops, turn it over and try again; do not force it.
- It is not recommended to connect a USB and a microSD (TF) device simultaneously.
- Abnormal operation may be caused by the individual characteristics of the storage device; this is not a sign of product malfunction.
- Do not charge devices (e.g., mobile phones) from the USB socket!
