LP Gas Regulator Type A500i 2531CT-0019
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS TO BE KEPT BY THE USER
Read carefully before use
Safety Information
- Always install the regulator in Gas OFF position only.
- In normal conditions of use, in order to ensure a safe operation of installation. It is recommended that the regulator should be changed every 10 years from the date of manufacture.
- For outdoor use, the device should be positioned and protected against direct contact of water.
- Before installation make sure that the rubber gasket in the cylinder valve or regulator is in good condition.
- Make sure all valves on the appliance are turned off.
- Use LPG cylinders in an upright vertical position only.
- For rubber hoses should not be more than 5-10 years old.
- Do not try to remove the regulator while the gas is ON.
- Do not move the LPG cylinder while in operation.
- Do not change the LPG cylinder in the presence of candle lights or any naked flames.
- When the regulator is installed downstream of another regulator, the supply pressure range shall be correct for the regulated pressure range of the upstream regulator, plus any pressure losses in the interconnecting pipe work.
- That downstream installation pressure loss shall not exceed the ΔP marked on the device.
- If fitting the regulator indirectly to a pressurized tank:
The regulator must not be positioned lower than top of the tank or outlet valve.
This is to avoid any gas vapor which may have re-liquefied from draining down into the regulator.
Any additional pipes or hoses used to connect the regulator must be inclined so that any liquefied or condensed gas can drain back into tank.
Installation
-
Check the gasket/seal on the cylinder valve is in place and in good condition.
-
If the gas valve is not in good condition, ask your gas dealers to replace it with another cylinder valve.
Start the installation: -
Conduct a visual inspection of the regulator. Remove any dirt or loose metal shavings.
-
Fit the gas hose to the regulator outlet nozzle. Use water or liquid soap for lubrication of the hose. Insert firmly and clamp it using the hose clamp. If the regulator has a threaded outlet, tighten the nut on the hose to the regulator by hand, then tighten the nut firmly by use of a wrench.
Attach the hose to the gas appliance in a similar way. -
In total absence of any flame, remove the protection seal or cap from the gas cylinder valve.
-
Tighten the regulator hand wheel firmly by hand. No tools needed.
-
Open the knob on regulator counter clockwise, minimum of one full turn.
-
Press the excess flow valve push button on the outlet of the regulator to fill gas into the hose, wait 5 seconds.
-
Perform a leak test by use of the manometer gauge. If no leaks, the gas appliance can be started up.
-
If any leaks, check installation and restart leak test procedure.
-
To replace the cylinder turn the gas cylinder valve OFF. Unscrew the regulator.
Gas Level Indicator
Current gas level should be read when the gas appliance is in use, following these color indicators:
Blue : The cylinder is nearly empty, no more liquid gas in the cylinder.
Yellow : The cylinder will soon be empty, plan to refill soon.
Green: Enough gas for continuous gas consumption.
Leak Test Procedure
- The regulator is connected to the gas appliance with the gas hose. Gas appliance valves shall be in closed/off position.
- The regulator is attached to the gas cylinder valve.
- Open the gas flow by turning the gas cylinder valve control knob open.
- After filling up the regulator and hose with gas, close the regulator valve again. The gas is now trapped between the gas regulator and gas appliance.
- The manometer dial goes into the Green area of the scale.
- Wait 2-5 minutes. If the dial is still in the green area of the scale without moving, the installation is free of any leakage.
- In case the dial is moving into the yellow or blue area the installation has a leak.
- Go through the installation with leak spray or water soap solution to identify the leak.
- Gas appliance should not be used until all leaks have been eliminated.
