PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TOMADO TGB0801S Coffee Maker - PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION

PRIOR TO FIRST USE

Before using the coffee machine for the first time, proceed as follows: Carefully unpack your coffee machine and remove all packaging material and possible promotional stickers. Keep the packaging (plastic bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. After unpacking the appliance, carefully check it for external damage that may have occurred during transport. Check that the voltage stated on the information plate matches the main voltage used in your region. Place the coffee machine on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface. It is best to clean the interior of the new coffee machine prior to using it for the first time. This is done by filling the water reservoir with cold water up to the 6 mark and using the appliance two to three times without coffee.
Clean the exterior of the appliance as described in section  CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE.

MAKING COFFEE WITH COFFEE BEANS

  1. Lift the water reservoir from the coffee machine, fold open the cover and fill the reservoir under the tap with cold drinking water up to the required level (2, 4 or 6 cups). Do not fill the reservoir above the 6 mark. Place the reservoir back in the coffee machine.

  2. Swing open the filter holder. Remove the ring-shaped cover of the filter holder. Place the permanent, washable filter or a paper coffee filter (size 1×2) of which the edges have been folded back in the filter holder. This prevents the filter bag from folding inwards and closing.

  3. Place the ring-shaped cover back on the filter holder and swing the filter holder fully closed again.

  4. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the filter holder with drip stop.

  5. Put the coffee beans in the coffee bean holder on top of the coffee machine and place the cover back on the coffee bean holder. We recommend not adding too many coffee beans, to prevent the unused beans from becoming damp in the coffee bean holder. The holder is able to contain a maximum of 90 grams of coffee beans.
Warning: Only fill the coffee bean holder with coffee beans and make sure that no foreign objects end up in the holder. Also do not use any unroasted or damp coffee beans. These might damage the appliance.

  6. Insert the plug of the coffee machine in an earthed wall socket. The indicator light at buttons and 6 lights up.

  7. Select the number of cups of coffee for which coffee beans should be ground. Press button 2 for 2 cups of coffee, 4 for 4 cups of coffee or 6 for 6 cups of coffee. Adjust this number to the amount of water poured in the water reservoir. The indicator light at the pressed button lights up. If you do not press a button, the appliance selects the default setting of 6 cups of coffee.

  8. Use the rotary knob on top of the coffee machine to select coarse or fine ground coffee. Turn the button to the large coffee bean for coarse grind, or to the small coffee bean for a fine grind.

  9. Select the required coffee strength by pressing the button When the indicator light at the button lights up, the button is pressed for extra-strong coffee. If the indicator light does not light up, the coffee will be less strong.

  10. Start the coffee machine by pressing the button . After approximately 3 seconds, the appliance starts grinding the coffee beans. Once the grinding process has been completed, the appliance will start making coffee after about 3 seconds.

  11. When the filtering process has been completed, 3 beeps will sound. Take the glass jug from the hot plate and pour the coffee. After making coffee, the hot plate will keep the coffee warm for 35 minutes, after which it switches off automatically.
3 beeps will sound and the indicator light at the button  switches off. If you want to switch off the appliance completely, you must remove the plug from the socket.

  12. Coffee tastes best immediately after it has been made, so do not wait too long before serving. The glass jug can immediately be placed back on the hot plate or you can pour the coffee into a thermos jug.

MAKING COFFEE WITH SHOP-BOUGHT EXTRA-FINE GRIND COFFEE

  1. Lift the water reservoir from the coffee machine, fold open the cover and fill the reservoir under the tap with cold drinking water up to the required level (2, 4 or 6 cups). Do not fill the reservoir above the 6 mark. Place the reservoir back in the coffee machine.
  2. Swing opens the filter holder. Remove the ring-shaped cover of the filter holder. Place the permanent, washable filter or a paper coffee filter (size 1×2) of which the edges have been folded back in the filter holder. This prevents the filter bag from folding inwards and closing.
  3. Scoop the required amount of coffee (extra-fine grind) into the filter bag or permanent filter and gently shake the filter to even out the coffee. According to your taste, use 1 level measuring spoon per cup of coffee. This is approximately 5-7 grams of coffee per cup. For 6 cups you will use 6 level measuring cups of extra-fine grind coffee.
  4. Place the ring-shaped cover back on the filter holder and swing the filter holder fully closed again.
  5. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the filter holder with a drip stop.
  6. Insert the plug of the coffee machine in an earthed wall socket. The indicator light at buttons ****and 6 lights up.
  7. Select the number of cups of coffee for which coffee must be made. Press button 2 for 2 cups of coffee, 4 for 4 cups of coffee, or 6 for 6 cups of coffee. Adjust this number to the amount of water poured into the water reservoir. The indicator light at the pressed button lights up. If you do not press a button, the appliance selects the default setting of 6 cups of coffee.
  8. Press the button to switch off the grinding mode, and the indicator light at the button lights up. Now press the button and coffee will be made without first grinding beans.
  9. When the filtering process has been completed, 3 beeps will sound. Take the glass jug from the hot plate and pour the coffee. After making coffee, the hot plate will keep the coffee warm for 35 minutes, after which it switches off automatically. 3 beeps will sound and the indicator light at button switches off. If you want to switch off the appliance completely, you must remove the plug from the socket.
  10. Coffee tastes best immediately after it has been made, so do not wait too long before serving. The glass jug can immediately be placed back on the hot plate or you can pour the coffee into a thermos jug.

SWITCHING OFF THE COFFEE MACHINE
When the appliance is switched on and is not used for a period of 1 minute, the indicator lights will switch off. Press a random button on the control panel to activate the appliance again.
Attention! If you want to switch off the appliance completely, you must remove the plug from the socket. The hot plate cools down slowly after switching off and could remain hot for some time.
Do not forget to remove the paper filter bag and throw it away or to remove the permanent filter and rinse it clean. Swing open the filter holder and remove the filter. Throw away the filter bag. When using the permanent filter, empty it, clean it and use it again. Allow the appliance to cool down properly first, before removing the filter.
Attention: This coffee machine comes with a drip stop. This means that the flow of coffee is stopped immediately when the glass jug is removed. The filter holder is closed off, as a result of which the flow of coffee is stopped. Be sure to place back the glass jug as quickly as possible to prevent the filter from overflowing. When making coffee, do not touch the cover to prevent burns due to hot steam.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Regularly clean the coffee machine. This is not only beneficial for the life span of the appliance, it also ensures optimum use of the appliance and, of course, good-tasting coffee.
Cleaning should involve the following:

  • Prior to cleaning, always check that the coffee machine is switched off, cooled down and that the plug has been removed from the socket.
  • Remove all separate components from the appliance.
  • After each use, clean all separate components in hot water and a mild washing-up liquid. Then rinse thoroughly with hot water and wipe dry.
  • Regularly clean the outside of the appliance and the hot plate with a slightly damp cloth and then wipe it dry with a dry cloth
  • Place back all components correctly in the appliance.

Warning:

  • Never use aggressive and/or abrasive cleaning agents when cleaning.
  • Never submerge the appliance, cord, or plug in water.
  • The grinding system in the coffee bean holder is very sharp. Avoid touching it.

DE-SCALING
Regularly de-scale your coffee machine. The de-scaling intervals depend on the hardness of the mains water and the frequency at which the coffee machine is being used. Due to scaling, the heating element can become obstructed. This causes overheating, as a result of which the coffee machine is switched off automatically as a safety precaution and will no longer function. The coffee machine will have to be repaired.
We recommend descaling the appliance after making coffee 60 times. You can de- scale the coffee machine with a special descaling agent for a coffee machine or with kitchen-grade vinegar. If you use a special descaling agent for coffee machines, you must observe the instructions on the packaging of this agent.

When using kitchen-grade vinegar, proceed as follows:

  1. Place the permanent filter or empty filter bag in the filter holder and make sure all loose parts are placed in the appliance correctly. Fill the water reservoir with clean, cold water and cold kitchen-grade vinegar up to the 6 mark. The water and kitchen-grade vinegar ratio should be 4: 1.
  2. Insert the plug into the socket. Press the button and start the appliance by pressing the button .
  3. The de-scaling process has been completed when the water reservoir and coffee filter are empty. Empty the glass jug and remove the permanent filter or filter bag from the filter holder.
  4. After de-scaling, allow a full reservoir of cold water to flow through the appliance at least 3 times, to remove all de-scaling liquid and vinegar residues and thus prevent a sour taste in the coffee.

Attention! If the coffee machine has not been used for some time, e.g. due to vacation, it is recommended to remove and clean all separate components. Then place the cleaned separate components back in their place and allow the coffee machine to make one run with clean water. In this way, you will prevent a possible foreign taste.

TIPS FOR MAKING GOOD-TASTING COFFEE

  1. A clean coffee machine is essential for making delicious coffee. Regularly clean and de-scale the coffee machine, as described in CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE and DE-SCALING.
  2. Use cold and clean drinking water for making coffee.
  3. Store coffee beans and extra-fine grind coffee in a cool and dry place. Close opened packages air-tight and store them in the fridge.
  4. The optimum coffee taste can be achieved by grinding fresh coffee beans just before you start making coffee.
