SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

  • Explanatory diagrams can be found on the product packaging.

  • Operation, maintenance, cleaning and product installation: for your safety, please refer to the various sections of this manual and the corresponding diagrams.

  • This appliance is intended for domestic household use only.
    It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:

    • staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
    • farm houses;
    • byclients inhotels, motelsandother residential typeenvironments;
    • bed and breakfast type environments.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by an adult responsible for their safety.

  • Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance and use the appliance as a toy.

  • Accessible surface temperatures can be high when the appliance is operating.

  • Remove all packaging items, stickers or other accessories either on the inside or outside of the appliance.

  • Unwind the power cord fully.

  • If it is necessary to use an extension lead ensure that it is of suitable construction and power rating, with an earth connection.

  • The appliance should only be plugged into a socket outlet with an earth connection.

  • Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance.

  • This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

  • If your appliance is fitted with a removable power cord: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from a Tefal approved service centre.

  • If your appliance is fitted with a fixed power cord: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a Tefal approved service agent or similary qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

  • Never immerse the appliance in any liquid. Never immerse the appliance or its power cord in water.

  • This appliance can be used by children over the age of 8 and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safeway and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children, unless they are over 8 years of age and under adult supervision.
    Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children under the age of 8.

  • For appliances with stone :

  • Warning about cleaning the stone:

  • Each stone is a unique natural material. It can be more or less permeable depending on how porous the stone is. A stone immersed in water during cleaning could crack or break the next time it is heated on the appliance.

  • Wash the stone under running water, rubbing it with an abrasive sponge and drying it.

Avoid detergents.
Never put the hot or cold stone in water or leave it to soak. Never put the stone in the dishwasher.

DO

  • If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
  • Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.
  • Read the instructions in this leaflet carefully and keep them to hand. They apply to every version depending on the accessories that come with your appliance.
  • Before first use, wash the plate(s) or the stone.
  • Ensure that the plate or the stone (depending on model) is stable and well positioned on the base of the appliance.
  • Only use the stone or plate (depending on model) that comes with the appliance or purchased at an approved service centre, and only on the support for which it is designed.
  • To prevent damage to the cooking plate or the stone, only use this on the appliance for which it was designed (e.g., do not place in an oven, on the gas ring or electric hot-plate,etc.).
  • Appliances with reversible plates : check that both sides of the plates are well cleaned before use. Do not turn the current plates when in use.
  • Take care with the location of the power cord, with or without an extension lead, so as not to disturb the movement of others around the table, and so that no one trips over it.

Do not

  • Never leave the appliance unattended when plugged in or in use.
  • To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall.
  • Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a teatowel.
  • Never place aluminium foil or any other object under the plate or the stone or between the reflector and the element.
  • Never leave cooking utensils on the cooking plates of the appliance.
  • Do not place the hot stone or the plate (depending on model) on a delicate surface or in water.
  • Do not use metallic scouring pads or any abrasive cleaners to avoid damaging the cooking surface (eg. Non-stick..).
  • For raclette appliances : Do not allow the individual trays to heat up while empty.
  • For appliances with a stone plate :
    • Never place the stone on the warm heating element.
    • Ensure that the stone is stable and well positioned on the base of the appliance.
    • Only use the stone that comes with the appliance or purchased at an approved service centre, and only on the support for which it is designed.
    • Do not leave the appliance operating while empty for more than 30 min. The stone will become too hot for optimum cooking.
    • Do not place the stone in contact with acidic foods such as vinegar products, mustard, pickled gherkins, pickles, etc. as they will damage the stone.
    • Do not place frozen or heavy food on the warm stone.

Advice / information

  • For your safety, this appliance conforms to all applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage Directive, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Food Compliant Materials, Environment, …).
  • Any solid or liquid foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts marked with the logo should not be consumed.

USING

  • To avoid damaging your product, do not use flambé recipes in connection with it at any time.
  • To preserve the non-stick properties of the coating, do not cook food in aluminium foil (depending on model).
  • Never cut food directly on the plates (depending on model).
  • To protect the coating on the cooking plate (depending on model), always use a plastic or wooden spatula.
  • Appliances with storing bag : Before each use, all components and product accessories that come into contact with the food must be washed.

AFTER USE

  • Place the thermostat in the min. position or set the switch to position 0. Unplug from the mains socket and leave the appliance to cool down 1 hour.
  • The heating element is not to be cleaned. If it is really dirty, wait until it has cooled down and wipe with a dry cloth.

Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled. Leave it at a local civic waste collection point.
