PHILIPS HP8660 Essential Care Airstyler

Important
- WARNING: Do not use this appliance near water.
- When the appliance is used in a bathroom, unplug it after use since the proximity of water presents a risk, even when the appliance is switched off.
- WARNING: Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water.
- Always unplug the appliance after use.
- If the appliance overheats, it switches off automatically. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down for a few minutes. Before you switch the appliance on again, check the grilles to make sure they are not blocked by fluff, hair, etc.
- If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, aservice centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- For additional protection, we advise you to install a residual current device (RCD) in the electrical circuit that supplies the bathroom. This RCD must have a rated residual operating current not higher than 30mA. Ask your installer for advice.
- Do not insert metal objects into the air grilles to avoid electric shock.
- Never block the air grilles.
- Before you connect the appliance, ensure that the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local power voltage.
- Do not use the appliance for any other purpose than described in this manual.
- Do not use the appliance on artificial hair.
- When the appliance is connected to the power, never leave it unattended.
- Never use any accessories or parts from other manufacturers or that Philips does not specifically recommend. If you use such accessories or parts, your guarantee becomes invalid.
- Do not wind the mains cord around the appliance.
- Wait until the appliance has cooled down before you store it.
- Do not pull on the power cord after use. Always unplug the appliance by holding the plug.
Electromagnetic fields (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all applicable standards and regulations
regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields.
Before styling your hair
Note: Always let the appliance and attachments cool down before you connect or disconnect the attachments.
- Dry your wet hair with a clean towel first as the appliance is most effective on towel-dry hair.
- Snap a suitable attachment onto the handle ( b in Fig.1) with the grooves aligned ( b in Fig.3 ).
You will hear a “click”, and the attachment is locked in place. To select a suitable attachment for the hairstyle you want, please refer to the table below:

Style your hair
- Connect the plug to a power supply socket.
- Slide the airflow switch ( c in Fig.1) to strong and warm airflow for fast drying and styling, ThermoProtect setting for gentle airflow to prevent your hair from overheating.
- (Only for HP8661, HP8662, HP8663, HP8667) You can also select cool airflow for fixing your hairstyle.
- (Only for HP8662, HP8663, HP8667) Ions are automatically and continuously dispensed to provide additional shine and reduce frizz when the appliance is powered on.
Dry your hair (HP8661, HP8662, HP8663, HP8667 only)
- Select the nozzle ( k in Fig.1) and attach it onto the handle ( b in Fig.1).
- Dry your hair with suitable airflow settings ( c in Fig.1). Create loose curls(Fig. 4, HP8662, HP8663, HP8667 only)
- Turn the knob ( h in Fig.1) of the retractable bristle brush ( i in Fig.1) to extract the bristles.
- Wind a section of hair around the brush with the bristles extracted.
- Keep the brush in the position for 7 to 10 seconds.
- Turn the knob ( h in Fig.1) to retract the bristles and remove the brush from your hair.
- Repeat steps 2-4 to the rest of your hair.
- When finished, twirl your curled hair around your fingers to define your curls.
- Adjust the curls as you like to get your desired looks.
- Apply hairspray to your hair for long-lasting results.
Create natural straight hair (Fig. 5, HP8663 only)
- Put the paddle brush ( j in Fig.1) on your hair.
- Brush through your hair slowly with the paddle brush, just like how you would with a normal brush.
- Brush your hair backward as you like.
- When finished, use your fingers to shape your hair.
Create inward/outward flicks and natural waves (Fig.6&7) (22mm Thermobrush for HP8661 only)
- Comb your hair and divide it into several locks of hair.
- Take a lock of hair, and brush it with the thermobrush downwards. Then, at the hair tips turn the brush inwards or outwards.
- Hold the brush in that position for 7 to 10 seconds, and then remove it from your hair. Repeat step 2 and 3 to the rest of your hair.
- When finished, use your fingers to shape your hair ends. Adjust the flicks as you like.
After use:
- Switch off the appliance and unplug it.
- Place it on a heat-resistant surface until it cools down.
- To disconnect the attachment, press the release button ( d in Fig.1) and pull it off.
- Remove hairs and dust from the appliance and attachments.
- Clean the appliance and attachments with a damp cloth.
- Keep the appliance in a safe and dry place, free of dust.
- You can also hang it with the hanging loop (an in Fig.1, only for HP8661, HP8662, HP8663, and HP8667 ).
