SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance may be used by children from the age of 8 and up, and also by persons with a physical or sensory limitation, as well as mentally limited persons or persons with a lack of experience and knowledge. But only on the condition that these persons have received the necessary instructions on how to use this appliance in a safe way and know the dangers that can occur by using this appliance. Children cannot be allowed to play with the appliance. Maintenance and cleaning of the appliance may not be done by children unless they are older than 8 years old and are under supervision. Keep the appliance out of reach of children younger than 8 years old. This appliance is suitable to be used in a household environment and in similar surroundings such as:

  • Kitchen for personnel of shops, offices or other similar professional surroundings
  • Farms
  • Hotel or motel rooms and other surroundings with a residential character
  • Guest rooms or similar

Attention:
This appliance cannot be used with an external timer or a separate remote control.

The appliance can become hot during use. Keep the power cord away from hot parts and don’t cover the appliance.

  • Read all instructions before use.
  • Before use, check if the voltage stated on the appliance corresponds with the voltage of the power net at your home.
  • Do not let the cord hang on a hot surface or on the edge of a table or countertop.
  • Never use the appliance when the cord or plug is damaged, after a malfunction, or when the appliance itself is damaged. In that case, take the appliance to the nearest qualified service center for a check-up and repair.
  • Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near or by children.
  • The use of accessories that are not recommended or sold by the manufacturer can cause fire, electrical shock, or injuries.
  • Unplug the appliance when it is not in use, before assembling or disassembling any parts, and before cleaning the appliance. Put all buttons and knobs into the ‘off’ position and unplug the appliance by grasping the plug. Never unplug by pulling the cord.
  • Do not leave a working appliance unattended.
  • Never place this appliance near a gas stove or electrical stove or in a place where it may come into contact with a warm appliance.
  • Do not use the appliance outdoors.
  • Only use the appliance for its intended use.
  • Always use the appliance on a steady, dry, and level surface.
  • Only use the appliance for domestic use. The manufacturer can not be held responsible for accidents that result from improper use of the appliance or not following the instructions described in this manual.
  • All repairs should be carried out by the manufacturer or its aftersales service.
  • Never immerse the appliance, the cord, or the plug in water or any other liquid.
  • Make sure that children do not touch the cord or appliance.
  • Keep the cord away from sharp edges and hot parts or other heat sources.
  • Before use, remove all packaging materials and any promotional stickers.
  • Never place a hot jug on a wet or cold surface.
  • A broken jug or a jug with a loose handle may not be used again.
  • Never clean the jug with biting cleaning products, scourers, or other detergents.
  • The jug is not suited for microwave heating.
  • The water reservoir may never be filled beyond the max level indication.
  • Never add extra water when the device is still running.

First, turn off the device, leave it to cool off and only then replenish the reservoir.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Check whether all parts are present and whether or not the device has been damaged in transport.
  • Fill the water reservoir with pure water and let it run twice without adding any coffee.
  • Pour out the water and clean all removable accessories thoroughly in warm water.

USE

  1. Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with water. The water level may not exceed that of the max level indicated on the reservoir.

  2. Place the permanent filter in the filter holder and ensure the permanent filter has been installed properly. You may also use a paper filter.

  3. Place the ground coffee in the filter. For each cup of coffee, you may use one level spoon of ground coffee but you may adjust to fit your own taste. Next, close the lid.

  4. Now place the insulated jug on the keep warm plate.

  5. Plug in the device. The display shows «12:00» and the colon will blink.

  6. Press the ON/OFF button, the ON indication light will light up red. The device starts working.

  7. You may interrupt the coffee brewing at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button once at any given point. The ON indication light will switch off and the green AUTO indication light will switch on. Press the ON/OFF button one more time to fully power down the device. The water that is already running through the coffee filter will still run down into the insulated jug. When you press the ON/OFF button again, the device will start up again.
    Remark: You can pour coffee at any given time. The device will automatically stop dripping. You only have 30 seconds to pour.

  8. When the brewing process has been completed, the appliance will automatically shut off.
    Attention: You will receive less coffee than the amount of water you added into the reservoir because the ground coffee will absorb the water you added.

  9. Always remember to turn off the coffee maker and remove its plug when you are no longer using it.

AUTOMATIC START

If you’d rather not start the coffee maker immediately, you can always choose to program it. Take the following steps to make that happen:

  1. Press once on the PROG button, CLOCK will be shown on the display.

  2. Press repeatedly on the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the current time.
    Remark: The clock works on a 24-hour system.

  3. Press the PROG button again and the word TIMER will appear on the display.

  4. Set the desired start time by repeatedly pressing the HOUR and MIN buttons. Press the PROG button when you have set the right time.

  5. Press the ON/OFF button twice, after which the AUTO indication light will switch on. After about 10 seconds, the LCD display will show the current time. You can check the automatic starting time by pressing the PROG button. Remark: You can cancel the automatic starting time by pressing the ON/OFF button. If you’d like to change the automatic starting time, please follow steps 1 through 4.

Whenever the set time has come, the green AUTO indication light will switch off and the red ON indication light will switch on. The device will start working. After the brewing process, the device will switch off automatically.

MEMORY
When the power is cut or the power cord has accidentally been removed from the plug whilst working, the device will switch on again automatically if the power outage did not take longer than 10 seconds. After power’s been cut for longer than 15 seconds, the device needs to be fully reprogrammed.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

  • Pull the cord whenever you want to clean the device.
  • The filter holder may be removed from the device for cleaning.
  • Regularly clean the outside of the device with a moist cloth. Rub it dry afterward.
  • Never use any biting cleaning agents.
  • The keep-warm plate must be entirely cool before cleaning.
  • Never submerge the device in water or any other liquid.
  • Never use a cloth to clean the water reservoir. Fluff might stay behind. Simply rinse the reservoir occasionally with water.

DESCALING

Descale your coffee maker regularly. Upon normal use (about 2 full jugs a day), we advise you to use the following guidelines:

  • The hardness of the water up to 18°dh: 2 to 3 times a year.

  • The hardness of the water above 18°dh: 4 to 5 times a year
    The water company in your region is usually able to pass you information on the hardness of your water.

  • To descale the device, you need to run the device twice with 1 liter water and 10 spoons of vinegar.

  • After descaling, you need to run the device twice with clear, cold water to flush out the taste of vinegar and the descaling leftovers.

  • Wash the jug, the lid, and the filter holder.

WARRANTY

This appliance has a two-year warranty period. During this period the manufacturer is responsible for any failures that are the direct result of construction failure. When these failures occur the appliance will be repaired or replaced if necessary. The warranty will not be valid when the damage to the appliance is caused by wrong use, not following the instructions, or repairs executed by a third party. The guarantee is issued with the original till receipt. All parts, which are subject to wear, are excluded from the warranty. If your device breaks down within the 2-year warranty period, you can return the device together with your receipt to the shop where you purchased it.
