INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE USE:
- Read and follow all instructions in this manual and warnings on the unit before starting.
- Dress appropriately when operating the machine.
- Removing all packing grease and oil from the surfaces.
- Dry all parts before re-assemble.
- Keep packing material for future storage of plucker.
- DO NOT allow children to operate this machine.
PLUCKING INSTRUCTIONS
-
Make sure all safety features are operational, including the power switch and proximity switch.
-
Check that all nuts and bolts are secure.
NOTE: All hardware (nuts, bolts, etc) should be checked for tightness before each use. The vibration of machines can cause them to loosen. -
Keep electrical connections out of areas where water can pool.
-
Each time the chicken plucker is plugged in, you must press the reset button on the leakage protector. The machine will not start without this step.
-
Put the bird into scalding water. Water should be approximately 140-150 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
It is recommended to mix soap with scalding water to make the oil on the birds’ feathers more easily break down. This will also allow the hot water to better penetrate the bird’s skin.
-
Press the start button on the power switch and put the birds into the plucker. The maximum weight of chickens/birds to be plucked at one time is 16 lbs. Birds weighing more than 8 lbs. should not be put into the plucker.
-
Drop the bird into the plucker and let the machining process until feathers are removed. A properly scalded bird will pluck in about 15-30 seconds.
-
Turn off the chicken plucker when finished. NOTE: DO NOT retrieve the bird until the unit has come to a complete stop.
-
Unplug the unit when you are done using the machine.
AFTER USE:
-
Turn off and unplug the machine before cleaning up or disassembly.
-
Keep hands out of the feather chute.
-
Disassemble all parts and wash thoroughly in hot soapy water.
-
You must remove all foreign material from all appliance parts.
-
DO NOT use bleach or chlorine-based chemicals to clean. Discoloration of plastic parts can occur.
-
Wipe down all nonstainless steel parts with a food-grade silicone spray. Alternatively, if silicone spray is not available, vegetable oil can be used. Silicone spray is the suggested lubricate to use. Unlike vegetable oil, silicone spray will not build up or become gummy. It lubricates and repels water and leaves a protective coating to keep rust
from forming. -
DO NOT immerse motor housing in water. Damage to the motor can occur.
-
It is best to keep the unit stored indoors or covered, not exposed to water or sunlight.
