Set-Up

Battery power (DC)

Compatible batteries (N.B Batteries are not included. Please purchase separately.)

  • An extenal power supply allows for a more rapid charge of the capacitor.

To supply power to the flash capacitor, please purchase the flash power supply (not included) separately. When using the power supply, AA batteries must also be inserted in the battery compartment.

  • Inserting AA batteries
1: Slide the cover downwards in the direction shown by the arrow to access the battery compartment.

2: Remove four AA batteries from their original packaging.

3: Insert the batteries, ensuring that the “+”and”-” markings match up with the positive and negative terminals in the battery compartment.

4: Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction shown by the arrow. Press and hold the “ ” key for 2 seconds to power on the device.

  • Angle adjustment

The flash head can be tilted up by 90 degrees, down by-7 degrees, and rotated horizontally by-90 to 180 degrees. Pointing the flash head towards a ceiling or wall will produce a “bouce flash” to make the picture look more natural with fewer hard shadows.

  • Mounting the flash
1: Turn the locking ring counterclockwise to the highest point.

2: Insert the flash hot shoe mount into the camera hot shoe until it is aligned with the camera hot shoe.

3: Turn the locking knob clockwise until it is locked.

4: Turn the locking ring counterclockwise to the highest point before removing the flash unit gently from the hot shoe.

When the flash is not in use, please remove it from the camera hot shoe.
This should only be done when the power of the flash and the camera body is turned off. Do not pull it out with any excessive force.

Instructions

  • TTL flash mode
TTL is the abbreviation of through-the-lens, which means the metering of the scene is through the lens. In this mode, the on-camera flash gives an accurate amount of light ouput for difference scenes with a low failure rate.
1: Press the “M” mode button until a “TTL” is dis played at the top of the screen.

2: Press”<<“, “>>”, “/\” or II V II button to fine-tune the settings.

  • Manual (M) flash mode
When you need manual exposure, set the flash output brightness according to your own requirements. The flash output can be set in 1/2-stop increments between 1/128 power and 1/1 full power.
1: Press the “M” mode button until “M” is displayed at the top of the screen.

2: Diagram: 1/1 ➔ … ➔ 1/32➔ 1/64➔ 1/128. Pressing the “<<” or “>>” button will increase/decrease the power value.

3: Diagram: ➔0EV ➔+0.3EV ➔+0.7EV➔ 0EV➔ -0.3EV ➔-0.7EV. Press the”/\” or “V” button to fine-tune the power value.

  • Stroboscopic (Multi) flash mode
In this mode, the flash will trigger a series of rapid flashes, allowing multiple images of multiple moving objects to be taken in a single picture, setting the flash frequency (number of flashes per second expressed in Hz), and flash output. This mode will produce multiple flashes during a single exposure and is commonly used.
1: Press the “M” mode button until “Multi” is displayed at the top of the screen.

2: Press the “SET” button until a flashing “—” is displayed on the screen allowing you to fine-tune the settings.

  • Frequency settings
1: Press the “SET” button until the frequency value flashes on the screen.

2: Press the”<<” or”>>” button to set the flash frequency from 01Hz to 199Hz.

  • Number of flashes settings
1: Press the “SET” button until the current number of flashes flash on the screen.

2: Press the “<<” or “>>” button to set the number of flashes from 01 to 20, or set it as 25/30/35/40/45/50/60/70/80/90/99.

After 10 flashes triggered at maximum power, allow the flash unit to cool down for at least 15 minutes. If the user tries to shoot more than 10 times in a row using the stroboscopic flash mode, the flash may stop working automatically to prevent the flash head from overheating.
If this happens, the flash must be allowed to cool for at least 15 minutes.

  • Exposure power settings
1: Press the “SET” button until the power value flashes on the screen.

2: Press the”<<” or”>>” button to set the flash frequency 1/128➔ 1/64➔ 1/32➔ … ➔ 1/4.

  • Zoom settings
1: Press the “SET” button until the zoom value flashes on the screen.

2: Press the”<<” or”>>” button to set the zoom as “A–mm” (auto) or from “M 24mm- 180mm” (manual).

  • Optical slave mode S1
S1 mode is suitable for manual flash. It will detect every flash emitted from the master flash and triggers the flash to fire synchronously. The effect achieved is the same as that of using a wireless flash trigger. To use this mode, your master flash should be set to manual flash. Please note that the TTL flash system with pre-flash function and red-eye reduction function with multiple flashes should not be used.
1: Press the “M” mode button until “S1” is displayed on the screen.

2: Diagram: 1/1 ➔ … ➔ 1/32➔ 1/64➔ 1/128. Press the”<<” or”>>” button and the power value will increase/decrease in turn.

  • Optical slave mode S2
    S2 mode:
Suitable for TTL flash mode, also known as “pre-flash cancel mode”. This mode ignores the pre-flash sent by a TTL flash, synch ran izes with the master flash, and supports the master flash working in TTL mode.
1: Pless the “M” mode button until “S2” is displayed on the screen.

2: Diagram: 1/1 ➔ … ➔ 1/32➔ 1/64➔ 1/128. Press the “<<” or”>>” button and the power value will increase/decrease in turn.

  • Shooting with the diffuser
The purpose of the diffuser is to diffuse the light produced by the flash unit, converting it into an effective soft light without shadows. The effect is almost the same as when using a fill light with you r camera. Good results are usually obtained when the flash head is ti lted up by 60 degrees.
1: Attach the diffuser to the flash head.

2: Adjust the flash to an appropriate position to achieve the desired flash effect.

  • Using the built-in reflector
The reflector makes the subject’s eyes look brighter and more alive and can avoid illuminating the front of the subject.
1: Tilt the flash head up by 45 degrees and pull out the wide panel and reflector.

2: Push the wide· panel into the flash head and keep the reflector out.

  • Using the integrated wide panel
When the distance between the camera and the subject is less than about 2m, you can use the wide panel to shoot more natural close-up photos. The use of the wide panel can also expand the flash coverage to a wider angle.
1: Tilt the flash head up by 45 degrees and pull out the wide panel and reflector.

2: Push the reflector into the flash head and keep the wide panel out.

Notes

  1. Do not trigger the flash near flammable gases or liquids (such as gasoline, solvents, etc.), to reduce the risk of causing an explosion .
  2. Do not use the flash to take pictures of a moving vehicles which could result in a road traffic accident.
  3. Do not expose your subjects’ eyes to the flash at a close distance, otherwise retinal damage or even blindness may occur.
  4. Do not charge a dry cell, non rechargeable AA battery.
  5. Do not use the flash in the rain or wet conditions.
  6. Do not use a battery that has signs of damage.
  7. When not in use for a long period of time, please remove the batteries.
  8. If the flash is not working properly, please turn off the flash and camera power, install the flash on your camera, and turn on the flash and cam era again. If th is doesn ‘t help, rep lace the batteries with new ones.
  9. If the flash malfunctions or doesn’t work, please replace with new AA batteries or ch eek whether the trigger’s contact points a re loose or not aligned fully.
