  5. Our recommended specific gravity is in the range of 1.47-1.51. Adjust for different dipping times or layering practices.

Application Instructions:

  1. Stir well before use.
  2. Immerse the ware for 1-2 seconds.
  3. Allow the glaze to dry before applying additional coats if desired.
  4. When using Stoneware Dry Crystal glazes, pour the glaze over your piece using a cup or ladle.
  5. While the glaze is wet, use a fan brush to evenly distribute the crystals; avoid heavy crystal loading on the bottom third of your piece.

Firing Instructions:

  • Fire to preferred temperature, cone 5-10 (2167F-2345F/1186C-1285C).
  • Testing is recommended as factors such as clay body, the thickness of application, the firing process, and temperature will affect the fired results.

FAQ

  • Q: Can I mix the dry material with less water than recommended?
A: It is best to follow the recommended water-to-material ratio to achieve the desired specific gravity for optimal results.

  • Q: How long should I wait for the glaze to dry before applying additional coats?
A: Allow the glaze to dry completely before applying additional coats to prevent uneven application and bubbling during firing.
