Measurement method
pH measurement
After calibrating the measuring device and the pH electrode, the device is ready for measurement.
- Connect the electrode to the BNC connector of the device.
- Remove the protective cap from the electrode.
- Switch the measuring device on by pressing the ON / OFF button.
- Immerse the pH electrode in the solution to be measured.
- Slowly stir the electrode in the solution until you get a stable reading.
- After you have taken a measurement, rinse the electrode with distilled water!
- Put the protective cap back on the electrode.
Calibration
For calibration, a standard buffer solution pH6.86, pH4.01 and pH 9.18 is required, which can be obtained from specialist dealers.
- Immerse the electrode in a standard phosphate buffer solution with a pH value of 6.86 (at a temperature of 25 ° C) and stir gently.
- Turn the trimmer pH7 with a screwdriver until the measured value corresponds to 6.86pH.
- Clean the electrode.
- Immerse the electrode in a standard buffer solution of pH 4.01 (at a temperature of 25 ° C). Turn the pH4 trimmer with a screwdriver until the measured value equals 4.01pH.
- Clean the electrode.
- Control: Immerse the electrode in a standard buffer solution of pH 9.18 (below a temperature of 25 ° C) and stir gently until the display value is stable. If the measured value is within the acceptable error range, the calibration is complete. If not, repeat point 4.
Important:
The pH range of the instrument needs to be recalibrated if:
- The electrode has not been used for a long time since the last calibration.
- The device has been used frequently and extensively.
- When the highest possible accuracy is required.
- After the electrode has been replaced with a new electrode.
Replacement of Battery
- Remove the battery cover on the rear side of the device.
- Take out the old battery and insert new 9V-battery (9V NEDA 1604 or equivalent) according to the polarity.
- Replace the battery compartment cover back on.
Statutory Notification about the Battery Regulations
The delivery of many devices includes batteries, which for example serve to
operate the remote control. There also could be batteries or accumulators
built into the device itself. In connection with the sale of these batteries
or accumulators, we are obliged under the Battery Regulations to notify our
customers of the following:
Please dispose of old batteries at a council collection point or return them to a local shop at no cost. The disposal in domestic refuse is strictly forbidden according to the Battery Regulations. You can return used batteries obtained from us at no charge at the address on the last side in this manual or by posting with sufficient stamps.
Batteries, which contain harmful substances, are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out waste bin, similar to the illustration shown left. Under the waste bin symbol is the chemical symbol for the harmful substance, e.g. ,,Cd” for cadmium, ,,Pb” stands for lead and ,,Hg” for mercury.
You can obtain further information about the Battery Regulations from the Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety).
