HOW TO USE

The SMARTOSCOPE UR-4 adjustable eyepiece adapter is a universal adapter ring that can be adjusted to fit many different sized spotting scope eyepieces for digiscoping. The UR-4 simply pushes over the eyepiece and can be secured via the securing screws. This adapter ring is designed for use with the SMARTOSCOPE universal digiscoping adapter with SMARTOSCOPE K30 opticsrail and Kowa smartphone adapters.

As standard, the SMARTOSCOPE UR-4 eyepiece ring is designed for larger eyepieces. Turning the securing screws clockwise engages the inner compression ring which is used to secure the adapter ring on to your eyepiece and for reducing the diameter of the outer ring if your eyepiece is smaller than the standard adapter diameter

When the compression ring is engaged – the diameter is reduced, it also protects your eyepiece from contact with the adjustment screws and helps to ensure a stable secure fit. When reducing the size of the SMARTOSCOPE UR-4 adaptering by using the compression ring – be sure to turn all 4 adjustment screws equally to ensure centralised alignment with your eyepiece.

The SMARTOSCOPE UR-4 adapter is supplied with three adhesive rubber strips – each with a different thickness. These strips can be used as singular or combined to reduce the size of the adapter ring further to help match the size of your eyepiece for a more secure fit. Please remember the diameter of the adapter ring is reduced by 2x thickness of each strip.

Before removing the adhesive strip cover – check which strip or combined strips is the best combination to securely push over your eyepiece. The fit should be firm but should allow for pushing on and removal of the adapter ring without force

Once you are happy with which strip/strips to use, peel back the adhesive cover and discard to reveal the adhesive. Push the strip firmly inside the adapter ring so it adheres to the inner wall.
If you want to use the UR-4 for different eyepieces, it is advisable to remove both the adhesive cover and the adhesive from the rubber spacer strips. Then these components can be combined and detached as required. -
Remember – if you are using an eyepiece with a narrow diameter, you can combine the rubber adjustment strips to reduce the diameter of the adapter ring.

When combining rubber adjustment strips, for a neat and more stable fixing, you should trim down the length of the inner strips to avoid overlapping. This will help keep a more central alignment.

The UR-4 eyepiece adapter has a 30mm connection thread. It fits into the thread of the K30 opticsrail of the SMARTOSCOPE VARIO adapter (Fig. 10) or on one of the Kowa individual adapters for smartphone digiscoping (Fig. 11).

Push the SMARTOSCOPE UR-4 adapter ring on to your eyepiece, secure by tightening the adjustment screws.
