Transportation and Storage
At winter storing, it is necessary to make sure there is no water in the
appliance as the frost could damage the appliance. Prior to transportation, it
is necessary to unplug the pump from the grid! The device has to be completely
emptied and stored with frost-proof protection. Adhesion of mechanical seals
can be prevented if you rinse the pump with appropriate oil (for example, with
vegetable oil).
Installation and first putting into operation
Screw or clamp (shorten to fit to the required
connection/diameter) the required hose connection (pic. F) on the pump. Fit
the hose on the hose connection and fasten it using a suitable hose clip or
coupling.
Notice The shorter the hose, the higher the transport performance.
Safety instructions for first putting into operation.
Caution: The pump must not in any case run without fillings.
pump must not be used for pumping drinking water!
The user is responsible to third persons in respect of using the pump
(waterwork, etc.).
Before putting the appliance into operation, a competent electrician must
check whether the required electrical safety measures are in place.
Electrical connection to a socket.
Check the voltage. The type label details must correspond to the electrical
network voltage.
If the pump is used in ponds, wells, etc. and appropriate waterworks,
standards applicable for the use of pumps in the given country must
necessarily be met.
- If the pump is inbuilt in a floor trap, the floor trap must be covered in order not to affect the passers-by.
- The discharge pipe fastening needs to be adequately secured (pic. F).
- Respect the max. pump immersion depth (see the technical specifications).
- For sandy or muddy soils it is necessary to let the pump run hanging on a rope or chains or put the pump on an appropriate support to prevent the suction part from dropping.
If the oil tank leaks, water may get dirty.
Connecting cable for submersible pumps
Depending on the type, submersible pumps are fitted with a 10 m H07RNF cable.
Based on an applicable regulation, submersible pumps with a connecting cable
length of less than 10 m may only be used indoors as pumps for pumping water
from cellars.
It is therefore necessary to follow the cable length and type when buying the
appliance.
Procedure
Caution!
The pump is recommended to be plunged or put into liquid slantwise. In this
way, the air cushion may get released from the body and the pump immediately
starts pumping. The pump may then be put straight.
Caution!
To ensure long service life of the pump seal, we recommend rinsing the pump
with clean water in regular intervals.
Automatic float
The float will automatically put the pump into operation when the liquid level gets up or down. If the float cable is extended or shortened, with the support point being the basis, the pump is switched on or off due to the required minimum or maximum height. The float cable is fastened to the pump handle with a suitable pressure holder. Please check whether the float is moving freely when the pump is being operated. The pump must be rinsed with clean water whenever used in very dirty water. Switch-on and switch-off heights may differ.
Thermal fuse/motor circuit breaker
The submersible pump has been fitted with a motor circuit breaker. If the engine is overheated, the motor circuit breaker switches the pump automatically off. The cooling time is app. 25 minutes; the pump is then automatically switched on. If the motor circuit breaker switches on, it is necessary to find the cause and remove it (see also “Troubleshooting”). The details given here cannot be used for “home” repairs as they require specific professional knowledge. You must always contact the customer service centre in case of any failure.
Step by step instructions
- Connect the water hose to the appropriate pump output (see Installation and first putting into operation/pic. F).
- Fasten the rope, chain, etc. to the pump handle and put it to the right place.
- Put the pump “slantways” (pic. D) to the pumped medium. Make sure the float switch is in the operating position.
- Plug the pump.
Rinse the pump with clean water after finishing your work.
Operation
The pump is put into operation when the plug is inserted in the appropriate
socket and the float switch put to the required position. If the pump is
lifted or transported, it is done using the installed handle and not using the
connecting cable. If the pump is plunged, a rope, chain, etc. fastened to the
handle must be used for that purpose, if necessary.
For muddy, sandy or siliceous soil, the pump must be hung on a rope or chain
or put to a base plate of an appropriate width so that the pump could work
submerged. Sand and other abrasives reduce the life of hydraulic parts and
pump gasket and they must therefore be prevented. In freezing conditions, the
pump must be taken out of the pumped liquid. It is absolutely necessary to
prevent the pump from being exposed to the risk of frost. The pump must be
drained and kept in a place protected against frost.
Float switch positions (pic. B + C)
The pump switch-on or switch-off point can be adjusted by various positions of
the float switch. In pic. B you can see the float cable without any fixation
change with the full switching radius. Number 1 means the operating position
and number 0 is the switch-off position.
Due to the float cable fixation on the pump handle, the switching radius can
be reduced when there is a lack of space or when the level is regulated
adequately. Number 1 in pic. C also means the operating position and number 0
is the switch-off position.
Continuous operation:
The float can also be hung on the pump from side; in that position (float
cable pointing down) the pump runs in continuous operation.
Important:
It is necessary to avoid running without fills during continuous operation!
Important: If the pump has not been in operation for a long time, it is
necessary to drain the pump pipe and body. Protect the pump against the risk
of frost. The pump may only be stored when fully drained.
