Use

WARNING of the risk of injury
– Place the mains adaptor cable so that it does not pose a trip hazard.
As soon as the fountain is supplied with electricity, the pump works and conveys the filled water. The water runs out of the fountain nozzle and your animal can drink it. Pay attention to the following:

  • Do not leave the fountain unsupervised for an extended period of time. Even if your animal does not drink any of it, the filled water evaporates. The pump must not run dry.
  • You can tell that the pump is likely to run dry from the suddenly noisy pump. In this case, always disconnect the unit from the mains and refill it with water.
  • Always remove soiling such as hair directly from the bowl.
  • The fountain can also be used as a pure drinking trough without being connected to the mains.

If you notice any carbon dust in the bowl during operation, rinse the carbon filter with water and remove carbon dust with a soft, clean cloth.

Cleaning

Electric shock HAZARD
– The mains adaptor cable or mains adaptor plug must not come into contact with liquids or be immersed in water or other liquids.

NOTE on material damage
**** – Never use aggressive chemical detergents, scouring agents, hard sponges or similar for cleaning. This could damage the surface.
– Always disconnect the drinking fountain from the mains before cleaning.

Overview

  • You should replace the carbon filter every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on how often you use the unit.
  • You can order spare parts from Zooplus.
  • You should clean the drinking fountain once a week.
  • You should clean the pump once a month, as debris (e.g. hair) can reduce the pump’s performance or even damage it.

General

  1. Clean the bowl, lid and fountain nozzles in mild dishwashing water. Then rinse them with clean water and dry thoroughly.
  2. Wipe the inside and outside of the water tank with a soft, damp cloth. Use a mild detergent, if necessary. In this case, wipe with clear water to remove any detergent residues.

Pump
With regular use, you should disassemble and clean the pump at least once a month. Otherwise, there is a risk that the pump will become calcified and no longer work properly.
In addition, the filter insert in the pump can be clogged with animal hair.
Have an absorbent cloth ready to take up small puddles of water immediately, if necessary.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Disconnect the drinking fountain from the mains.

  2. Remove the bowl.

  3. Remove the pump from the water tank as far as possible.

  4. Disassemble the pump as shown below:TIAKI HBT2301 Food and Water Dispenser Drinking Fountain - Fig 31

  5. Clean the parts:
    – Thoroughly rinse the filter element under running water.
    – Rinse the magnetic rotor (See arrow) with lukewarm water. Remove any deposits with a soft sponge.
    – Clean the remaining parts with clear water and a toothbrush or similar.
    – *= Pump filter holder.

  6. Reassemble the pump and place it in the holder of the water tank.

Storage

If the fountain is not used for a long time:

  1. Clean the fountain as described in the “Cleaning” chapter.
  2. Store the dry fountain in a dry and frost-free place. You can use the original packaging as outer packaging.
