Introduction

The Klark Teknik KT-USB is a USB audio interface card that adds PC-based recording and playback capability to your digital audio network. With the KT- USB installed, you can eff ortlessly multitrack and play back up to 24/48 channels of high-quality 24-Bit, 96/48 kHz audio directly to your Mac or Windows computer, perform “virtual sound checks”, and loop-back audio through your DAW software. Currently the card can be used with the DN9650/ DN9652.

Installation

Before you install the KT-USB card in the expansion slot of your DN9650/52, you must check klarkteknik.com to verify whether the unit’s firmware supports that card. We recommend that you periodically check the DN9650/52’s product page for firmware updates.

CAUTION: before installing the KT-USB card into the DN9650/52, you must make sure that the DN9650/52’s power switch is turned off . Malfunctions or electrical shock may occur otherwise.

To install an interface I/O card:
DN9650/DN9652

  1. Make sure that the host unit’s power is turned off .
  2. Loosen the 19 screws fastening the chassis cover, then remove the chassis cover from the main chassis. Keep the cover and the screws in a safe place.
  3. Before removing the KT-USB card from its protective bag, we recommend touching the grounded metal chassis of the console to prevent electrostatic discharges aff ecting the sensitive electronic components. It is generally a good idea to hold the card either by the face plate or by the two small handles, but never touching the components on the circuit board directly.
  4. Identify the Network Module connectors (two male 40 pin vertical connectors). Align the KT-USB female connectors with the DN9650 connectors and apply vertical pressure being very careful not to bend the pins. Push the card all the way into the slot to ensure that the contacts of the card are correctly inserted.
  5. Fasten the card using the included screws (2 in the faceplate and 2 to the rear of the PCB). Be aware that damage or malfunctions may occur if the card is not fastened.
  6. Replace the chassis cover and replace all screw before the unit is powered on.

Driver Installation (Windows)

  1. With the KT-USB installed the DN9650 and the unit fully reassembled, power on the DN9650.
  2. Connect a USB cable between the PC and the USB card.
  3. Run KT-USB_setup.exe.

Now the USB card is ready for use, the card will appear as a soundcard under windows control panel and will be selectable for audio input/output in any windows DAW software.
