BEFORE FIRST USE
- Remove all packaging parts before initial operation.
- When the heated throw is used for the first time, it can smell of plastic, but this disappears after a short time.
- Use the appliance as a heated throw blanket only. This appliance is only for warming human bodies.
- The best results are expected when the blanket is placed onto a body before switching it ON. Do not place the switch under a cover.
- Pre-heating time takes about 10-30 minutes depending on ambient room temperature.
CONNECTING THE CONTROLLER
Turn off the power and remove the plug from the power source
- To fit the controller simply hold the socket on the heated throw with one hand and push the controller plug all the way until it clicks in. There are grooves to use as a guide.
- To remove the controller, hold the corner of the heated throw and pull the controller plug directly out. Do not pull the controller cable.
- Do not fold, roll or kink the cable. Allow the cable to hang freely.
- Ensure the cable is not pulled so tight that it bends hard at the heated throw connector end.
USING THE CONTROLLER
IMPORTANT: Only use the heated throw with detachable controller model
BLV-C24.
Do not use any other controller for this blanket.
Heat Settings:
- 1-2 = Low heat 28-31°C (suitable for continuous use)
- 3-4 = Medium heat 34-37°C
- 5-6 = High heat 40-43°C (recommended for preheating only)
- Press the Power button to turn the blanket on.
- To increase the required heat setting, simple press the “+” until you see the desired heat setting on the LED display.
- To decrease the required heat setting, simple press the “-” until you see the desired heat setting on the LED display.
- Press the Power button on the controller to turn off the blanket.
- TURN OFF AND UNPLUG THE HEATED THROW WHEN NOT IN USE.
- Keep the controller away from external heat sources. i.e. heater, fireplace etc.
ELECTRICAL FIELD EFFECT
- When using the heated throw, some people may be susceptible to a tingling sensation when alone or when touching someone else using the blanket.
- This ‘tingling’ feeling is known as an ‘electric field effect’ and is occasionally known to happen across all makes and brands of blankets. It is caused by the current flowing through the element creating an Electromagnetic Field (EMF). Some people are more susceptible to feeling this EMF tingling sensation than others. This is no cause for concern and is in no way an electric shock.
HEATED THROW PLACEMENT
- Place the heated throw flat ensuring that it does not overhang anywhere. Avoid placing the heated throw where it can become folded or crumpled. The heated throw may only be switched on when it is flat and unfurled. It is recommended to preheat it for 10-30 minutes.
- Once the heated throw has been placed correctly in position, connect the controller supply plug to a suitable power outlet. Press the power button ON. Select the desired heat setting on the controller. The LED display on the controller indicates that the blanket is ON.
- Only operate the heated throw with the supplied controller.
- CAUTION: The electronic components inside the controller may lead to a slight warming of the controller when the product is on. Therefore the controller must not be covered or placed on top of the blanket when it is in operation.
- NOTE: Do not plug into a powerboard, double adaptor or the like. The power plug must be inserted directly into the wall power socket.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT COVER THE CONTROLLERS AT ANY TIME.
Keep the controller away from external heat sources. i.e. heaters, fireplaces etc.
OPERATION
Auto Off
- This controller is fitted with a 3 hour count down auto OFF timer, which starts to countdown from when your heat setting has been selected, and will switch off after 3 hours.
- Note: Once a heat setting has been selected and the controller is powered ON, the countdown timer will not be affected by adjusting the heat level.
- The timer will only be reset to 3 hours by pressing the Power button OFF and then turning back ON.
- When the controller has timed out, the element will turn off. Press the Power button back on to reset.
Preheat
- At normal ambient temperature you should allow at least 10-30 minutes on heat setting “5-6” to preheat.
- You may use the heated throw sooner, while it’s still warming up, however DO NOT leave the blanket on setting “5-6” while on your body.
- Note: A cold room that has not been used for some time may require a greater length of time to preheat.
Overheat Protection
- The heated throw is fitted with numerous overheat safeguard systems. This offers protection against overheating or damage to the elements by disengaging the power to the elements before overheating hazards occur.
- Should there ever be a problem with the heating element in the heated throw, it will automatically close down the operation and the heated throw will turn off.
- The controller must not be covered. The controller has built in protection, so that if the controller overheats, or the heating element is damaged, it will automatically close down the operation permanently.
- If overheating occurs, the heated throw is permanently damaged and cannot be used again. A replacement will be needed.
- NOTE: Keep the controller away from external heat sources. i. e. heater, fireplace etc.
CLEANING & CARE
- This heated throw must be washed on the hand wash cycle only (MAX 40°C). Never use hot water as the blanket may shrink and will void the warranty.
- Before washing, first disconnect the plug connection and remove the plug from the heated throw. We recommend that the heated throw is washed separately. Ensure the controllers do not get wet at any time.
- Use a mild detergent with dosage according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Please note that excessive washing will wear out the heated throw blanket. For this reason, it should only be washed a maximum of 5 times throughout its entire life.
- Only use the heated throw when it is completely dry.
IMPORTANT: NEVER SWITCH ON THE HEATED THROW TO DRY IT!
Treatment For Localised Soiling

- Soak the heated throw for approximately five minutes, and then gently squeeze the soapy water through.
- Rinse the heated throw thoroughly with clean lukewarm water until no more suds are visible and allow water to drain off.
- Refer to the section “Drying” for drying instructions.
- With normal use it is recommended that you hand wash your heated throw once a year.
- Do not wring or spin dry the heated throw.
Machine Washing
- Place the heated throw in the washing machine with either a natural wool detergent or with mild soap flakes.
- Set your machine to the Hand Wash/Delicate/Gentle cycle (without Spin dry) and set the water temperature to warm (40°C Max). Do NOT wash with HOT water.

- Note: The heated throw must be thoroughly dried including controller sockets before being re-fitted to your bed.
- Do not wring the blanket. Do not spin dry.
Storage
- When not in use, store the heated throw by allowing it to cool down before folding. Fold neatly (or rolled) but not tightly without sharp bends in the heating elements and store where no other heavy objects will be placed upon it.
- Store in a dry place where it cannot be damaged.
