BEFORE FIRST USE
USING YOUR RICE COOKER
Cooking Rice:
NOTE:
As a guide, it is recommended to use the ratio of rice and water as per the
table below but this can be modified as per the desired cooking level and type
of rice being cooked.

Using Your Rice Cooker:
The appliance is working when the warm or cook lights indicate. Do not lift
the lid during cooking and be cautious of steam emitting from the steam vent.
MAINTENANCE
Avoid using metal utensils with the Lid and Steam Tray to prevent scratching
and damaging the non-stick coating. Use wooden or silicone plastic utensils
instead.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The use of any electrical appliance requires the following common sense safety rules.
Please read these instructions carefully before using the product.
- WARNING: Misuse of appliances could cause potential injury.
- Before use, make sure the appliance is undamaged.
- This appliance cannot be used by children. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of the reach of children aged less than 8 years. Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
- Do not immerse the main unit in water.
- This appliance is not intended to be operated using an external timer or a seperate remote-control system.
- This appliance is intended to be used in households and similar applications such as farmhouses, by clients in hotels, motels and other residential-type environments, and bed and breakfast-type environments. It is suitable for use in staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments.
- If the supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
- The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use.
Location
- Always locate your appliance away from the edge of the worktop.
- Ensure that the appliance is used on a firm, flat, heat-resistant surface.
- Do not use the appliance near the water.
Power cord
- WARNING: This appliance is NOT recommended for use with extension leads and/or power boards.
- The power cord should reach from the socket to the appliance without straining the connections.
- Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the worktop or open space where a child could reach it.
- Do not let the cord run across a cooktop or hot area which might damage the cord.
Other safety considerations
- Only put water or rice in the Cooking Pot before switching it on.
- Do not switch on the Rice Cooker if the Cooking Pot is empty.
- Allow the Lid and Cooking Pot to cool before immersing them in water.
- Never cook directly on the Base Unit. Use the Cooking Pot.
- Do not switch on the Base Unit without the Cooking Pot in place.
- Switch off the Base Unit before removing the Cooking Pot.
- Do not use the Cooking Pot if cracked or chipped.
- Do not switch on the appliance when it is upside down or laid on its side.
- Keep the appliance 30cm away from other objects for good ventilation.
- The use of attachments or tools not recommended by Morphy Richards may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
- Unplug from the socket when not in use, before putting on or taking off attachments, and before cleaning.
- Always store in a dry place.
Personal safety
- WARNING: Do not touch the top of the appliance or other hot parts during or after use, use the handle. Misuse of this appliance could cause potential injury.
- WARNING: Hot steam is emitted from a steam vent during use. Lift and open the lid carefully and keep it away from the face to avoid scalding.
- Only touch the handle of the lid while the rice cooker is in use.
- To protect against the risk of electrical shock do not put the base in water or any other liquid.
- Do not touch hot surfaces.
- Always unplug when not in use.
- Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot food, water, or other hot liquid.
- Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool completely before removing or adding parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged lead or plug, or after an appliance has malfunctioned, or has been dropped or damaged in any way.

your house electricity supply which must be A.C. (Alternating Current).

BEFORE FIRST USE
- Remove all packaging materials.
- Remove any stickers or labels from the appliance. Do not remove the rating label on the bottom of the appliance.
- Wash the Cooking Pot, Steam Tray, Measuring Cup & Spoon with warm, soapy water.
- Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Clean the lid and the stainless steel housing with a slightly damp cloth.
USING YOUR RICE COOKER
Cooking Rice:
NOTE:
As a guide, it is recommended to use the ratio of rice and water as per the

- Take the desired quantity of rice using the measuring cup and put it in a bowl or sieve.
- Wash rice with water until the water becomes clear. Rinsing rice removes dirt, dust, debris & chemicals and provides a better-tasting rice.
- After washing, put the ce in the Cooking Pot.
- Add unsalted water to the rice in the Pot and close the lid.
- Connect the appliance to a suitable power socket.
- Press the ON/OFF switch. The cooking light illuminates to indicate that the appliance is working.
WARNING:
Do not lift the lid during cooking. Be cautious of the steam emitting from the
steam vent.
Reheating Rice:
- Pour 60ml of cold water into the Cooking Pot for each cup of cooked rice.
- Mix the rice and water and then close the lid.
- Switch on the rice cooker.
- The cooker will automatically stop once the reheat is finished.
Steam Cooking:
- Pour a minimum of 2 cups of water into the Cooking Pot.
- Place the food in the Steam Tray.
- Place the Steam Tray on top of the Cooking Pot.
- Close the lid and switch on the Rice Cooker by pressing the ON/OFF switch.
- Keep monitoring the cooking periodically to avoid overcooking.
- For prolonged cooking, add more water to the cooking pot.
- Once finished, press the ON/OFF switch to turn off the appliance.
CARE AND CLEANING
- WARNING: Do NOT immerse the base unit and power cord in water.
- Turn off and unplug the Rice Cooker from the mains.
- Allow to cool completely before cleaning.
- Do not use metal utensils or abrasive cleaners when cleaning.
- Remove the Cooking Pot, Steam Tray and accessories and clean in hot soapy water.
- Wipe the sides of the main unit with a damp cloth.
- Do not place a hot Cooking Pot into cold water.
- Never heat the Cooking Pot and Steam Tray when empty.
- Do not use metal utensils when stirring rice in the Cooking Pot and Steam Tray as this will scratch and remove the non-stick coating. Use either wooden or silicone plastic utensils.
MAINTENANCE
- If the unit fails to operate efficiently, is broken or other problems arise, unplug and do not operate.
