- Switch 3: Programming the processing On: Enables Bi-curtain processing for harsh environments (factory default).
FAQ
- Q: What is the purpose of Bi-curtain processing?
- A: Bi-curtain processing is designed to reduce false alarms by requiring intruders to be detected in two separate curtains before triggering an alarm.
- Q: What is the recommended mounting height for optimal performance?
- A: The recommended mounting heights are between 2.5 to 5.0 meters (8 ft. 2 in. to 16 ft. 5 in.) for best sensitivity and coverage.
Installation Instructions
Description
- The EV660 series includes models EV666-D with Form C relay, and EV669 with Form A relay.
- These are ceiling-mount PIR detectors with 360° coverage.
WARNING
Mounting the detector
- Install the detector so that the expected movement of an intruder will be across the field of view. This is the direction best detected by PIR detectors. See Figure 7
Avoid possible false alarm sources such as
- Direct sunlight onto the detector
- Heat or cold sources in a field of view (heaters, air conditioning, radiators, etc.)
- Moving objects in the field of view (fans, pets, etc.)
- Obscuring the detector field of view with large objects, such as furniture
Increase of mounting heights beyond the specified (2.5 to 5.0 m) range will reduce sensitivity.
Note: The arrow (Figure 2, item 4, and Figure 7) indicates the centre curtain direction and the active direction when switch 4 is set to ON.
Mounting instructions
- Lift off the mounting plate (item 1) as shown.
- Fasten the mounting plate to the ceiling in the required position using mounting holes (item 3).
- Ensure the mounting height is 2.5 to 5.0 m.
- The detection pattern can be adjusted by up to ±15° (max 30°) by rotation of the mounting plate prior to tightening the screws.
- Strip the cable for 5 cm and pull it through the cable entry hole (item 5) and strain relief.
- Wire the detector select the appropriate processing options (see “DIP switch settings”) and mount the sensor module (item 8).
- To mount the sensor module to the mounting plate use the screw (items 6 and 7), which is placed for transport in the mounting plate
The curtain directions 1 to 9 clockwise (item 2) are indicated in the mounting plate (curtain no. 5 is the centre curtain).
DIP switch settings
Switch 1: Programming the Control Voltage (CV)
- On: Inversed logic, a low voltage is needed to enable the Walk test and Latch functions.
- Off: Standard logic, a high voltage is needed to enable the Walk test and Latch functions (factory default).
Switch 2: Programming the LED
- On: Enables the LED on the detector at all times (factory default).
- Off: Puts the LED under the control of the Walk test and Latch input.
Switch 3: Programming the processing
- On: Enables Bi-curtain processing designed for harsh environments (factory default).
Note: Bi-curtain is used to reduce the possibility of false alarms. It
looks for signal verification and requires the intruder to be seen in two
curtains for an alarm.
Off: Provides the standard 4D processing.
Note: This mode must be used in EN 50131-compliant installations.
Switch 4: Programming the detection pattern
- On: Provides a 180° field of view for special applications.
- Off: Gives the normal 360° field of view (factory default).
Alarm memory
Note: First set the control voltage (CV) by switch 1 (see Figure 3). For
example: Switch 1 = On, then CV = 0 V = Low.
Connect CV to terminal 9 when the system is armed. When the system is
disarmed, disconnect the CV. If an alarm has occurred during the armed period,
a flashing LED indicates the detector or detectors that gave the alarm.
Reapplying the CV (rearming the system) will reset LED indication and memory.
Remote enable/disable of the walk test LED
To walk test the detector, the CV to terminal 9 (Latch) must be disconnected.
Connect CV to terminal 10. The detector’s LED will now light and go out again
as the alarm relay opens and closes, making possible walk testing.
Notes
- Enabling the walk test will not clear alarm memory. After disarming the system after an alarm, you may switch to walk test.
- When you switch back out of walk test, the indication of memorized alarms will re-appear.
- Only when CV is reapplied to terminal 9 (for example, the system is rearmed) will LEDs and memory be cleared.
- To enable the walk test LED without a remote CV input, connect a link between terminals 2 and 10.
Access to the mirror inside the sensor module
- This access is only required when masking individual curtains.
- Unfasten the screw (Figure 2, item 9) and open the sensor module (item 8). The two mirrors are accessible now.
Selecting the coverage patterns
- Mask the appropriate mirror curtains with the adhesive labels provided and reassemble the sensor module.
- For example: see Figure 4 for the mirror curtain coverage pattern corresponding to curtains 4 and 8 masked.
