1.1 Scope of delivery
Check all parts for transport damage. Contact your dealer or customer service
in the event of complaints. (see 9.4 Customer Service) Your new appliance

1.2 Overview of the appliance and equipment

Please keep these operating instructions in a safe place so you can refer back
to them at any time.
If you pass the appliance on, please hand these operating instructions to the
next user.
Read these operating instructions carefully before use to ensure safe and
correct use of the appliance. Follow the instructions, safety instructions and
warning messages included at all times. They are important for ensuring you
can operate and install the appliance safely and without any problems.
Danger for the user:
– This device can be used by children and people with impaired physical,
sensory or mental abilities or with a lack of experi- ence and knowledge
provided that they are supervised or have received instruction in the safe use
of this device, and about the resulting hazards. Children must not play with
this appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance work must not be carried out by
children without adult supervision. Chil- dren aged between 3 and 8 are
allowed to load and unload the appliance. Children below the age of 3 must be
kept away from the appliance unless they are under contin- uous adult
supervision.
– The socket must be easily accessible so that the appliance can be
disconnected quickly from the electricity in an emer- gency. It must not be
located in the area behind the appliance.
– When disconnecting the appliance from the supply, always take hold of the
plug. Do not pull the cable.
– In the event of a fault pull out the mains plug or deactivate the fuse.
– Do not damage the mains power cable. Do not operate the appliance with a
defective mains power cable.
– Only customer service or other specially trained staff may repair or perform
other operations on the appliance.
– Only assemble, connect and dispose of the appliance according to the
instructions.
Fire hazard:
– The coolant used (information on the model plate) is ecofriendly but also
flammable. Any leaking coolant may ignite.
· Do not damage the refrigerant circuit pipes.
· Do not handle ignition sources inside the appliance.
· Do not use electrical appliances inside the appliance (e.g. steam cleaners,
heaters, ice cream makers, etc.).
· If the refrigerant leaks: remove any naked flames or ignition sources from
the vicinity of the leakage point. Properly air the room. Inform customer
services.
– Do not store explosives or sprays using combustible propellants such as
butane, propane, pentane, etc. in the appliance. To identify these spray cans,
look for the list of contents printed on the can, or a flame symbol. Gases
possibly escaping may ignite due to electrical components.
– Keep burning candles, lamps and other items with naked flames away from the
appliance so that they do not set the appli- ance on fire.
– Please be sure to store alcoholic drinks or other packaging containing
alcohol in tightly closed containers. Any alcohol that leaks out may be
ignited by electrical components.
Danger of tipping and falling:
– Do not misuse the plinth, drawers, doors etc. as a step or for support. This
applies particularly to children.
Danger of food poisoning:
– Do not consume food which has been stored too long.
Danger of frostbite, numbness and pain:
– Avoid prolonged skin contact with cold surfaces or refrigerated/frozen goods
or take protective measures, e.g wear gloves.
Danger of injury and damage:
– Hot steam can lead to injury. Do not use electrical heating or steam
cleaning equip- ment, open flames or defrosting sprays to defrost.
– Do not use sharp implements to remove the ice.

Risk of crushing:
– Do not hold the hinge when opening and closing the door. Fingers may get
caught.
Symbols on the appliance:
This symbol may be located on the compressor. It relates to the oil in the
compressor and makes reference to the risk that: Swallowing or inhaling can be
fatal. This advice is only relevant to recy- cling. There is no danger in
normal opera- tion.
This symbol is located on the compressor and indicates the danger of flammable
materials. Do not remove the sticker.
This or a similar sticker may be located on the rear of the appliance. This sticker indicates that there are vacuum insulation panels (VIP) or perlite panels in the door and/or housing. This advice is only relevant to recycling. Do not remove the sticker.

Putting into operation
3.1 Location
WARNING Leaking coolant and oil! Fire. The coolant contained in the appliance
is eco-friendly, but also flammable. The oil contained in the appliance is
flammable. Escaping coolant and oil can ignite if the concentration is high
enough and in contact with an external heat source. u Do not damage the
pipelines of the coolant circuit and
the compressor.
– If the appliance is installed in a very humid environment, condensation can
build up on the outside of the unit. Always ensure good airlow and ventilation
in the installa- tion location.
– The more refrigerant there is in the appliance, the larger the space that it
is installed in must be. If the space is too small, any leak may create a
flammable mixture of gas and air. For every 8 g of refrigerant, the
installation space must be at least 1 m3 . Information regarding the coolant
can be found on the serial tag inside the appli- ance.
3.1.1 Supporting floor
– The floor of the installation site must be horizontal and even.
– The surface supporting the appliance must be at the same level as the
surrounding floor.
3.1.2 Positioning
– Do not install appliance in direct sunlight or next to an oven, radiator or
similar.
– Install the appliance with the rear panel up against the wall and always use
the supplied wall spacers (see below).

3.3 Installing multiple appliances

3.5 Ventilation requirements
NOTICE Danger of overheating due to insufficient air ventilation! The
compressor may be damaged if there is insufficient air ventilation. u Take
care to ensure adequate air ventilation. u Observe the ventilation
requirements.
If the appliance is integrated into a fitted kitchen, the following
ventilation requirements must be adhered to: – As a rule, the larger the
ventilation space the more effi-
ciently the appliance can run.

During first use: u Transport the appliance packaged.
When transporting appliances after initial commissioning (e. g. moving or

3.7 Unpacking the appliance
Before you connect the appliance, report any damage imme- diately to the
delivery company. u Check the appliance and the packaging for damage
during transport. Contact the supplier immediately if you suspect any level of
damage. u Remove all materials from the back or the side walls of the
appliance that may prevent proper installation or ventilation. u Remove all
protective films from the appliance. Do not use sharp or pointed objects for
this.
3.8 Mounting wall spacers
With wall spacers, your device achieves the declared energy consumption and no
condensation forms in high ambient humidity. The device is fully functional
without the spacer brackets, but its energy consumption will be slightly
higher.
If you insert the wall spacers, then the device depth increases by approx. 35
mm.

u Appliance with supplied wall spacers: Fit wall spacers on the rear of the appliance at the bottom left and right.
u Then prop up the door: Turn the adjustable foot on the bearing bracket (B) using the open-ended wrench SW10 until it comes into contact with the floor, then turn an additional 90°.

u Take off the protective film from the exterior of the appli- ance.
u Take off the protective film from the trim panels.* u Remove all transport
safety components. u Clean the device. (see 8.4 Cleaning the appliance) u Note
the type (model, number), appliance designation,
appliance/serial number, purchase date and dealer’s address.
CAUTION Risk of injury due to heavy appliance! u Have two people transport the
appliance to its installa-
tion site.
WARNING Danger of injury and damage due to the appliance being unstable! The
appliance can topple over. u Secure the appliance as described in the
instructions.
WARNING Fire hazard and danger of damage! u Do not place appliances emitting
heat e.g. microwaves,
toasters etc. on the appliance!
3.12 Disposing of packaging
WARNING Danger of suffocation due to packing material and plastic film! u Do
not allow children to play with packing material.
The packaging is made of recyclable materials: – corrugated board/cardboard –
expanded polystyrene parts – polythene bags and sheets – polypropylene straps
– nailed wooden frame with polyethylene panel* u Take the packaging material
to an official collecting
point.
Ensure that the following conditions are met:
q Only move the device when it is not loaded. q Only set up the appliance when
someone is available to
help.

falling open! If the additional adjustable foot on the base support is not
correctly positioned on the floor, there is a risk of the door falling open or
the appliance tipping. This can lead to injury or property damage. u Unscrew
the additional adjustable foot on the support
until it reaches the floor. u Then turn it another 90°.
u Set up the appliance so that it is level using the supplied open-ended
wrench to turn the adjustable feet (A) and a spirit level.
u Then prop up the door: Turn the adjustable foot (B) on the bearing bracket
until it comes into contact with the floor, then turn an additional 90°.

WARNING Danger of injury due to door falling out! If the bearing parts are not
screwed on tightly enough, the door may fall out. This can result in serious
injuries. In addition, the door may not close with the result that the
appliance does not cool properly. u Screw on the bearing brackets/bearing pins
tightly with
4 Nm. u Check all screws and retighten them if necessary.

the door, so that no food falls out.

3.13.5 Relocating the bearing components
WARNING Danger of injury due to door falling out! If the bearing parts are not screwed on tightly enough, the door may fall out. This can result in serious injuries. In addition, the door may not close with the result that the appliance does not cool properly. u Screw the bearing brackets on firmly with 4 Nm. u Check all screws and retighten them if necessary.

3.13.8 Fitting the table top
If necessary, you can put the table top back on.
Ensure that the following conditions are met:
– The type of current and voltage at the installation site match the
information on the serial tag (see 1 Appliance at a glance) .
– The socket is earthed according to the regulations and fused.
– The fuse tripping current is between 10 and 16 A. – The socket is easily
accessible. – The socket is not located behind the appliance but in
areas a or b (a, b, c). u Check the electrical connection. u Insert the
appliance plug (G) into the back of the appli-
ance. Ensure that they latch into place. u Connect the mains plug to the power
supply.
3.15 Switching on device (first use)
Make sure that the following requirements are fulfilled: q The device has been
installed and connected in accord-
ance with the installation instructions. q All adhesive strips, adhesive and
protective films and
transport locks are removed from inside and on the device. q All marketing
leaflets are removed from the drawers. q You are familiar with the
functionality of the display. (see 6.2 Functionality of the display)

Storage
Note The manufacturer recommends: u Stock with food: Wait for around 6 hours
until the set
temperature is reached. u Store frozen foods at -18 °C or colder.* u Observe
the notes on storing food. (see 4.1 Information
regarding storage)

Storage
The air temperature in the freezer compartment, measured with a thermometer or
other measuring device, may fluc- tuate. Temperature fluctuations are greater
in a half-full or empty freezer and it is possible to attain temperatures
warmer than -18 °C.
4.3.1 Freezing food
The maximum amount of fresh food that you can freeze within 24 hours is
specified on the type plate (see 9.5 Model plate) under “Freezing capacity …
kg/24h”.
To ensure that food quickly freezes through, adhere to the following
quantities per package: – Fruit and vegetables up to 1 kg – Meat up to 2.5 kg
4.1 Information regarding storage
Arranging your food properly
WARNING Risk of fire u Do not use any electrical appliances in the food area
of
the appliance unless recommended by the manufacturer.
Note The energy consumption increases and the cooling power goes down if
ventilation is not sufficient. u Always keep air slots clear.
CAUTION Risk of injury due to broken glass! Bottles and cans containing drinks
may burst when being frozen. This applies particularly to sparkling drinks. u
Do not freeze bottles and cans containing drinks!
u Place packaged food in the middle of the freezer compartment.
Defrosting food
Observe the following specifications for storage: – Keep the air vents on the
inside of the rear wall free. – In the freezer compartment: Package food
properly.* – Package or cover foods that readily take on or give off
odours or taste in closed containers. – Package raw meat or fish in clean,
closed containers.
This will prevent meat or fish from touching or dripping onto other food. –
Keep liquids in closed containers. – Leave space between goods to ensure good
air circula- tion. – Store food according to the instructions on the pack-
aging. – Always observe the best-before date indicated on the packaging.
Note Failure to follow these guidelines can lead to foodstuffs spoiling.
4.2 Fridge compartment
WARNING Risk of food poisoning! u Do not re-freeze thawed food. u Use
defrosted foodstuff as soon as possible.
You can defrost food in several ways: – In the fridge compartment – In the
microwave – In the oven/fan-assisted oven – At room temperature u Take out
only as much food as necessary.
4.4 Storage times
Refer to the specified storage times as a guide. In the case of foods with a
minimum shelf life, the date indicated on the packaging still applies.
4.4.1 Fridge section
Always follow the best-before date stated on the packaging.
The air circulation in the appliance creates different temper- ature zones.
You will find the different temperature zones in the appliance and equipment
overview. (see 1.2 Overview of the appliance and equipment)
4.2.1 Arranging your food properly
u Upper area and door: Store butter, cheese, tinned food and tubes.
u Coldest temperature zone: Store perishable foods such as pre-cooked meals,
meat and lunch meats.
u Bottom shelf: Store raw meat or fish.
4.3 ***-freezer compartment
Here, a dry, frosty storage climate is created at -18 °C. The frosty storage

– Pay attention to good ventilation. Do not cover ventilation holes or grids.
– Do not install the appliance in direct sunlight, next to an oven, radiator
or similar.
– Energy consumption depends on the installation condi- tions, e.g. the
ambient temperature (see 1.3 Appliance range of use) . A warmer ambient
temperature can increase the energy consumption.
– Open the appliance for as short a time as possible. – The lower the
temperature is set the higher the energy
consumption. – Sort your food: home.liebherr.com/food. – Keep all food
properly packed and covered. This prevents
frost from forming. – Only take food out for as long as necessary so that it
doesn’t warm up too much. – Inserting warm food: allow to cool down to room

With this function you activate or deactivate the SabbathMode. If you activate
this function, some electronic functions are switched off. As a result, your
device meets the religious requirements for Jewish holidays such as Sabbath
and complies with STAR-K Kosher certification.
Device status when SabbathMode is active
LEDs 1-5 light up.
SuperCool
With this function you switch to the highest cooling capacity. It allows you
to achieve lower cooling tempera- tures. You can also achieve lower
temperatures in the 4-star freezer compartment. Application: – Cool large
quantities of food quickly. – Freezing food. Activating SuperCool The
function is located in the main menu at the position of LED 1. Time at which
you should activate SuperCool: – When you place goods in the 4-star freezer
compartment:
Activate the function when inserting the goods.* – When you place goods in the
fridge section: Activate the
function when inserting the goods.

about the power failure. Once the power is restored, the appliance continues
to operate in SabbathMode. The power failure may mean that food spoils and the
consumption of this food could lead to food poisoning. After a power failure:
u Do not consume food that was frozen and has thawed
out.

Defrosting is performed automatically. The water from the thawing process
drains through the outlet and evaporates. Water drops or a thin layer of frost
or ice can form on the back wall; this is a completely normal part of the
applian- ce’s function. This must not be removed. A layer of frost or ice can
from briefly due to the energyoptimised control of the device. u Clean the
drain opening regularly (see 8.4 Cleaning the
appliance) .
8.3 Defrosting the freezer compartment manually*
A layer of frost or ice forms after prolonged use.
The following factors promote the formation of frost or ice: – The appliance
is opened frequently. – Hot food is put in. u Switch off the appliance . u
Pull out the mains plug or switch off the fuse. u Wrap the frozen produce in
newspaper or blankets and
store in a cool place.
WARNING Risk of injury and damage as a result of hot steam! Hot steam can lead
to burns and can damage the surfaces. u Do not use any steam cleaners!
u Wipe the housing down with soft, clean cloth. If very dirty, use lukewarm
water with a neutral cleaner. Glass surfaces can also be cleaned with glass
cleaner.
8.4.3 Cleaning the interior

cloths and ph-neutral all-purpose
cleaners. u Do not uses abrasive sponges or steel wool which may

Liebherr uses batteries in some of its appli- ances. In the EU, for environmental reasons, legislation obliges the end user to remove these batteries before disposing of old appli- ances. If your appliance contains batteries, a corresponding notice is attached.
Lamps
If you can remove the lamps yourself without destroying them, also remove these before disposal.
u Take the appliance out of operation. u Appliances with batteries: remove the
batteries. For
description, see Maintenance chapter. u If possible: remove lamps without
destroying them.
11.2 Disposing of the appliance in an environmentally friendly manner
The appliance still contains valuable materials and must be disposed of separately from unsorted municipal waste.

10 Shutting down
u Empty the appliance. u Switch off appliance. (see Switching the device on
and
off) u Remove mains connector. u Remove appliance connector if required:
Remove and
move from left to right at the same time. u Clean appliance. (see 8.4 Cleaning
the appliance) u Leave the door open, so that no unpleasant odours arise.
On devices without a freezer compartment: *
Lamps For Germany:
Dispose of batteries separately from the old appliance. To do this, you can
return the batteries free of charge to retailers as well as recycling centres
and collection centres for recyclable materials.
Dispose of removed lamps via the respective collection systems.
You can dispose of the appli- ance free of charge via the class 1 collection
containers at the local recycling and recyclable material collection centres.
When purchasing a new fridge/freezer, if the sales area > 400 m2, retailers
will also take back the old appliance free of charge.

Disposal
WARNING Leaking coolant and oil! Fire. The coolant contained in the appliance
is eco-friendly, but also flammable. The oil contained in the appliance is
flammable. Escaping coolant and oil can ignite if the concentration is high
enough and in contact with an external heat source. u Do not damage the
pipelines of the coolant circuit and
the compressor.
u Transport the appliance without damaging it. u Dispose of batteries, lamps
and the appliance according
to the above specifications.
