IMPORTANT NOTICE ON THE ARAI TOUR-X5 HELMET ONLY USE ORIGINAL ARAI VAS-A IC (MAX VISION) VISOR.

CAUTION: The peak supplied with your helmet is not suitable for highspeed use. At such speeds air catching a side or main surface of the peak may cause difficulty in returning the head to a forward and/or level position, or may obstruct your vision. You should practice experiencing this effect starting at low speeds and gradually increasing speeds so that you will know what to expect and determine when the peak should be removed for higher speed riding.

  • Apply one or two drops of supplied silicone lubricant around the edge trim and on other moving parts and wipe off with soft tissue paper to maintain proper operation.

WARNING:

  • If your shield becomes too scratched or uncleanable, replace it with a new one. Impaired visibility causes accidents.
  • Use a solution of mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water to clean your shield. Rinse well with clean water, and wipe off with a soft cloth. Never use petrol, thinner, benzene or any other solvents. There are many “aggressive” cleaners on the market, including some supposed to be specifically for use on shields. Arai strongly recommends that you do not use any such products to clean your shield as some of their ingredients may have damaging effects on the shield and other plastic parts installed on your helmet.
  • Do not apply stickers or adhesive tape to the shield, as this will weaken the hard coating. Tinted or mirrorized shield is for daylight use or in high visibility conditions only. Never use tinted or mirrorized shield at night or in poor visibility conditions.

Arai-TOUR-X5-Helmet-In-Diamond-White-fig-13

  • To remove, first remove the shield. Remove two screws from each base plate with a flat blade screwdriver or small coin (1). Remove plates from helmet shell. Note the right and left base plate for proper reinstallation, referring to the mark on it (2).
  • To replace, place base plate over the threaded screw receptacles in the helmet. Install the two screws through each base plate into the helmet and screw them, but do not fully tighten (3). Install shield as per previous instructions, lower the shield to fully closed position (4) and press the front center of the shield to bring it against the eyeport trim. While still pushing on the shield to keep a tight seal against the eyeport trim, tighten the base plate screws (5) – but be careful not to overtighten, as the screws may break.
  • It may be necessary to do one side at a time, with a smoothing pressure from the shield center toward each base plate and tightening one and then the other for best results. Repeat for the other side.
  • Install the side pods as per previous instructions. Work the shield up and down to confirm proper operation.

TO REMOVE/REPLACE CHEEK PADS

Emergency Release Tabs

  • This helmet has an emergency release system. The emergency release tabs allow emergency medical technicians to smoothly remove the helmet’s cheek pads in order to assist in removal of the helmet from the head of an injured rider after an accident.
  • There are tabs between the shell and the cheek pads on each side of the helmet. Emergency medical technicians can pull the tabs downward to remove the cheek pads.

WARNING:

  • The emergency release tabs are for use only by emergency medical technicians.
  • Never use the emergency release tabs for routine, everyday removal of the cheek pads.
  • Use of the emergency release tabs for routine removal may damage the cheek pads and release tabs.

WARNING :

  • An exposed release tab strap can catch on your clothing or other objects while you are riding.
  • Never allow more than the tab of the release tab strap to be exposed outside of the cheek pads.
  • Always ensure that the release tab strap is in its proper position before using the helmet.
  • Always reset the release tab strap to its proper position as depicted in the instruction manual when placing the cheek pads back on the helmet.

When first servicing the cheek pads, it is suggested that you do only one at a time so that the other can be used as a reinstallation guide.
To remove the cheek pads, first undo chinstrap.

  • Gently pull the cheek pad toward the front of the helmet (1), then pull the back of the cheek pad inward to release (2) and slide it off the strap.
  • To take off the fabric covering for washing, peel the covering off over the rear edge of the cheek pad assembly until all the fabric is on the face side surface (3). Then draw the covering through the opening by grasping the rectangular collar and pulling (4).
  • To wash fabric coverings, put them into lukewarm water with small amount of laundry soap or your own shampoo and wash gently by hand. Rinse well with fresh water and wipe off with a soft cloth. Dry them in the shade at ambient temperature.

  • To wash the comfort lining, put it into lukewarm water with small amount of laundry soap or your own shampoo and wash gently by hand. Rinse well with fresh water and wipe off with a soft cloth. Dry it in the shade at ambient temperature.
    • WARNING: Never use petrol, thinner, benzene or any other solvents.
  • To replace the lining, place the bosses over their plastic receptacles and push them home (5)&(6).

WARNING: When reinstalling the comfort lining, be sure the lining is properly positioned along the inside shape of the EPS (a.k.a. Styrofoam) liner.
