Technical description
The blind is a manually operated spring roller blind with a mounting profile.
The blind is available equipped with spring or ratchet operation.
Spring operation: There is a spring in the shaft of the roller blind which is
tensioned when the roller blind is pulled down and thus automatically pulls
the roller blind back up again.
Ratchet operation: There are locking points within the spring so that the
spring roller blind can be locked at any height. In the desired position, the
spring locks in the shaft and the blind remains in position. The height can be
adjusted continuously. With a short pull on the hem bar, the spring is
released from the lock, and the blind winds itself up.
The speed at which the blind is stowed and the stowed height can be set using
the corresponding adjustment wheels.
Installation
Fitting the blind
NOTICE! Damage hazard
- Before drilling any holes, check the subsurface carefully for possible gas, electricity or water pipes.
- Consider using two people to install the blind if the blind is large or the installation location is difficult to reach alone.
- Use screws and plugs suitable for fixing the blind to the respective mounting surface (e.g., hull).
- Ensure that you do not drill through the mounting surface.
NOTE Installation location
- When choosing the installation location, consider the dimensions of the blind in rolled-up position so that windows and doors can be opened easily even when raised.
- The blind can be mounted either in face fix (Fig. 3 on page 6, A) or top fix (Fig. 3 on page 6, B).
- Attach the bracket caps to the fixing bracket (Fig. 2 on page 5).
- Place the blind in the desired position on the mounting surface and mark the outer edges (Fig. 3 on page 6).
- Place the mounting brackets in the marked area and mark the drilling holes (Fig. 4 on page 6, 1.). NOTE Ensure that you place the mounting brackets at the same distance from each other (x) and centered (y).
- Pre-drill the mounting holes (Fig. 4 on page 6, 2.).
- Screw the mounting brackets in place (Fig. 4on page 6, 3.).
- Slide the blind with the mounting profile onto the mounting brackets. Press lightly on the back of the mounting profile until the blind audibly clicks into place (Fig. 5 on page 7).
Attaching the hold-downs (optional)
Attaching the mini grip or toggle (A, B)
(For versions with round hem bar only)
- Deploy the blind to the desired end position (Fig. 7 on page 8, 1.).
- Measure the distance from the roller to the bottom edge of the mini grip (Fig. 7 on page 8, 2.).
- Stow the blind (Fig. 7 on page 8, 3.).
- Place the hold-down on the wall at the measured distance and mark the drilling hole (Fig. 7 on page 8, 4.).
- Pre-drill the mounting hole (Fig. 7 on page 8, 5.).
- Screw the hold-down in place (Fig. 8 on page 8).
- Attach the mini grip or the toggle to the hem bar.
Attaching the pegs (C)
-
Deploy the blind to the desired end position (Fig. 9 on page 9, 1.).
-
Measure the distance from the roller to the hem bar (Fig. 9 on page 9, 2.).
-
Stow the blind (Fig. 9 on page 9, 3.).
-
Mark the drilling holes on both sides of the blind using the measured distance (Fig. 9 on page 9, 4.).
NOTE Ensure that the drilling holes are at the same height from each other and at the same distance from the roller. If the hold-downs are not mounted parallel, the blind will not be tensioned evenly and the rolling up and down of the blind may be impeded. -
Pre-drill the mounting holes (Fig. 9 on page 9, 5.).
-
Screw the pegs in place (Fig. 9 on page 9, 6. – 7.).
-
Place the covers on the pegs (Fig. 9 on page 9, 8.).
Removing the blind
- Fully stow the blind.
- Carefully insert a suitable tool (e.g. a flat-head screwdriver) between the roller blind and the tongue of the mounting bracket to loosen the blind (Fig. 10 on page 9, 1.).
- Lift the blind off the mounting brackets (Fig. 10 on page 9, 2.).
Operation
Deploying the blind
- Pull the blind by the hem bar to the desired position.
- If sprung: Fix down the hem bar using the hold-downs to prevent the blind from retracting.
Retracting the blind
NOTICE! Damage hazard
Ensure the blind is completely dry before stowing to prevent mold growth.
- If sprung: Detach the hem bar from the hold-downs and release it.
- If ratchet: Pull the hem bar down and release it.
Setting the retraction speed
CAUTION! Risk of injury
Observe that for increasing the spring tension 5 turns of the wheel may not be
exceeded. The spring can be damaged under too much tension. A blind that
retracts too fast under too much tension can injure a person or damage the
blind.
The speed at which the blind is stowed can be adjusted by the wheel that sets the spring tension (wheel on the left-hand side). The speed increases by turning the wheel forwards or decreases by turning the wheel backward, depending on the direction of the fabric as shown in Fig.11‹ on page 10.
- Fully stow the blind.
- Add or remove half a turn to increase or decrease tension.
- Deploy the blind and check if the blind is stowed at the desired speed. Add or remove tension in steps of half a turn. Add max. 5 turns.
Adjusting the stowed height
The height at which the hem bar stops when the blind is stowed can be adjusted
using the wheel on the right-hand side as shown in Fig. 11 on page 10.
- Fully stow the blind.
- Turn the wheel slightly forwards or backward to adjust the end position of the hem bar up or down.
- Deploy and retract the blind and check if the blind stops at the desired height.
Fixing the hem bar
To prevent the blind from retracting or swinging, the hem bar can be fixed down
using the hold-downs.
- Fixing the hem bar using the hold-down option with mini grip (A, for versions with round hem bar only)
- Fixing the hem bar using the hold-down option with toggle (B, for versions with round hem bar only)
- Fixing the hem bar using pegs (C)
- Fixing the hem bar using the eyelets (for hem bars with eyelets only)
- To attach the hold-down options A, B and C see chapter Attaching the hold-downs (optional) on page 7.
- For hem bars with eyelets: Use e.g. hooks or ropes to fix the eyelets (see Fig. 14 on page 11).
Cleaning
NOTICE! Damage hazard
- Do not grease, oil, or lubricate the blind unit. Lubricants will damage the fabric.
- Be careful not to crease the fabric when using the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
- Rubbing can damage the fabrics.
- Spot-cleaning may result in cleaner areas than the surroundings.
- Always ensure that your blinds are fully stowed before cleaning windows or the surrounding surfaces. This will prevent spoiling the blind fabric by splatter or sprays of water or detergent.
- The manufacturer recommends testing any cleaning agents on a hidden area of the blind first.
- Remove bird droppings and tree resin as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage to the material.
NOTE Cleaning by professional cleaning personnel
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for improper cleaning methods or agents
used by professional cleaning personnel. In this case, the responsibility lies
with the cleaning company.
Removing soiling
Fully deploy the blind to clean the fabric.
Spot cleaning
Spot-clean with a soft white cloth, moistened with warm water. Add a mild detergent if needed (non-abrasive and with no additives). Blot gently to avoid creasing or damaging the fabric. Always leave the blind deployed to dry thoroughly.
Troubleshooting
NOTE
- If a malfunction of the roller blind occurs that is not described in the following table, contact an authorized service agent.
- Have the number on the product label indicating the blind type ready for this purpose. The number is located on the mounting profile.
Problem | Possible cause | Suggested remedy |
---|---|---|
The blind rolls up too slowly or too quickly. | The spring tension is too high | |
or too low. | Adjust the spring tension to the desired speed (see chapter |
Setting the retraction speed on page 10).
The blind is not running smoothly or not running at all.| The blind is rolled
up crookedly and has tilted.| Carefully deploy the blind fully and roll it up
again evenly.
Check whether the blind and the hold-downs are mounted horizontally. Even small devi- ations from the horizontal may result in the blind being rolled up crookedly.
