Instructions For Installing Cylindrical Lever Lockset
NOTE : Accurate door preparation is essential for the proper functioning of this lock. Follow the template and instructions carefully.
THRU-BOLTS ARE PROVIDED AND RECOMMENDED FOR USE ESPECIALLY ON HIGH-TRAFFIC DOORS. THERE ARE THREE THRU-BOLT LOCATION OPTIONS
The lever anti-sagging mechanism within the lock chassis has a patent in the U.S. and other countries.
Door and jamb preparation
Mark door
- A. Check the lock for proper backset and thru-bolt locations before marking the door.
- B. Detach the “Door edge” Template from the main template Card
- C. Fold the main template on the desired line (Low, Flat, or High bevel line).
- D. Position the template at the desired height from floor (Recommended height from the floor is 38″ (97cm)).
- E. Mark center for 21/8″(54mm) hole.
- F. Mark centers for (2)5/16″(8mm) holes if thru-bolt are being used.
- G. Use the “Door Edge” Template to mark a 7/8″ or 1″ hole for the latch bolt.
Drill holes
- A. Drill a 21/8″(54mm) hole through the door (from both sides to avoid damaging the door).
- B. Drill (2) 5/1 6″ (8mm) holes for thru-bolt(if used)
- C. Drill a 1″ (25mm) or 7/8″ (22mm) (depending on latch housing diameter) in the door edge.
Install latch
- Insert the latch into the hole. Trace around faceplate
- Chisel out the wood until the faceplate fits flat with the door edge.
- Drill (2) %4″(3.5mm) holes and secure latch unit with combo-screws supplied.
- Fasten the latch to the door so that the beveled side of the latchbolt faces the amb.
Install strike
- A. Mark the vertical line and height on the jamb exactly opposite the center of the latch hole.
- B. Drill (2) 1″ (25mm) holes, 3/4″ (19mm) deep, 5/1 6″ (8mm) above and below heightline.
- C. Use a strike plate as a pattern for the cutout. Clean out the hole and install the strike.
- A. Mark the vertical line and height on the jamb exactly opposite the center of the latch hole.
- B. Drill (2) 7/s” (22mm) holes, 11/16″ (17mm) deep, 3/s” (10mm) above and below the height line.
- C. Use a strike plate as a pattern for the cutout. Clean out the hole and install the strike.
Lock Installation
Must use M6 x 8.5mm screws If not use thru-bolts. Must use #10-32 x 1-1 /8″ screws if using thru-bolts.
Disassemble inside trim
- Remove the inside lever.
- Remove inside rose assembly.
- Remove the mounting plate.
Adjust for door thickness
Lockset is factory preset for 13/4″{45mm) doors.
- The lock can be adjusted for door thickness range from 13/s” to 13/4″
- Rotate the outside rose assembly until the correct door thickness mark is aligned with the outside rose plate.
Install lock unit
- IMPORTANT: When inserting the lock into the door, ensure that the latch prongs engage in the chassis housing and the retractor engages in the latch bar.
- IMPORTANT: This lock is factory preset for 13// (45mm) doors. See Step 6. to center chassis indoors or to change adjustment for other door thicknesses
Install mounting plate
CAUTION: When using a power screwdriver for installation, set to minimum torque setting.
- A. Hold the Lock in place in the door.
- B. Put the mounting plate into position on the chassis.
- C. Place mounting plate. Tighten it to lock body with (2) #10 – 32 x 11 /8″ screws
- D. Place inside rose ass’y. Tighten it to lock the body with screws supplied.
- NOTE 1 : (2) #10 – 32 x 11 /s” ( *) screws can be used for outside thru-bolt type only.
- NOTE 2 : (2) M6 x 8.5mm screws can be used for no thru-bolt type only.
Install inside rose assembly
- Align dimples on the rose with grooves inside the rose assembly.
- Place the rose against the door and rotate clockwise until dimples snap into slots next to the grooves.
Install inside lever
- Slide the inside lever onto the spindle. Push the lever completely into place. (Pull on the lever to make sure that the catch is fully engaged.)
- Test the operation of the lock to make sure you have followed instructions correctly.
How to remove & reassemble the outside lever
Remove outside lever
- Insert the key into the cylinder. Insert a push pin (or similar tool) into the hole in the lever. Turn the key one-quarter turn and push the tool (push pin) to depress the lever catch. Slide the lever from the spindle.
Reassemble outside lever
- Put the cylinder into the outside lever. Then insert the key into the cylinder.
- Slide the lever onto the outside spindle until the cylinder tailpiece engages into the slot inside the spindle.
- Turn the key a quarter turn and hold in that position. At the same time depress the lever catch and push the lever on until it snaps into place.
- Release and remove the key.
CAUTION FOR CLASSROOM FUNCTION
IMPORTANT: Turn the cam anti-clockwise as far as it will go before installing the outside lever and cylinder.
