IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:

  1. Only use an iron for its intended use.
  2. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or other liquids. Including the cord and plugs.
  3. Always turn the iron OFF before plugging or unplugging the iron from the electrical outlet. Never pull on the cord to disconnect the iron from the electrical outlet; instead, grasp the plug and pull on the plug to disconnect the iron.
  4. Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces. Let the iron cool completely before putting the iron away. Coil the cord loosely around the iron when storing.
  5. Always disconnect the iron from the electrical outlet before filling the iron with water, emptying the water from the iron, and when the iron is not in use
  6. Do not operate the iron with a damaged cord or in the event the iron has been dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the iron. Take it to a qualified serviceman for examination and repair. Incorrect assembly might result in a risk of electric shock when the iron is used after reassembly.
  7. Close supervision is required for any appliance used by or near children. Do not leave the iron unattended while the iron is connected or on an ironing board.
  8. Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when you turn a STEAM IRON upside down – there might be hot water in the reservoir.
  9. To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate an iron on the same circuit with another high wattage appliance.
  10. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a cord with an ampere rating equal to or greater than the maximum rating of the iron shall be used. A cord rated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire or electric shock due to overheating. Care shall be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or be tripped over.
  11. Do not expose to rain, store indoors
  12. Do not use outdoors.
  13. Do not touch hot surface. Use handles or knobs.
  14. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on and tracking off parts
  15. Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance. Connecting to the wrong voltage may cause irreparable damage to the appliance.
  16. Do not use the appliance if the plug, the mains cord, or the appliance itself shows visible damage, or if the appliance functions abnormally in any way, or if the appliance has been dropped or leaks.
  17. Do not operate any appliances which are malfunction or has been damaged in any manner. For assistance in the US and Canada only.
  18. If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, or a service center, authorized by Philips or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
  19. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the mains.
  20. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved by a person responsible for their safety.
  21. Do not allow children to play with the appliance.
  22. Older children aged 8 or over are only allowed to clean the appliance and perform the Calc-Clean procedure under supervision.
  23. Children should be supervised by responsible person to ensure they do not play with appliance
  24. Close supervision is necessary when appliance is in used by or near invalids.
  25. Keep the iron and its mains cord out of the reach of children less than 8 years of age when the appliance is switched on or cooling down.
  26. Always place and use the iron and rested on a stable, level, and horizontal surface.
  27. The appliance must be used and placed on a flat, stable, heatresistant surface. When you place the iron on its heel or its stand, make sure that the surface on which you place it is stable.
  28. Do not let the mains cord come into contact with the hot soleplate of the iron.
  29. Surfaces are liable to get hot during use (for irons with ‘hot’ symbol marked on the appliance. Do not touch this surface before the appliance has completely cooled down.
  30. The iron is not to be used if it has been dropped.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION

  • Check the mains cord regularly for possible damage.
  • Fully unwind the mains cord before you plug it in the wall socket.
  • The soleplate of the iron can become extremely hot and may cause burns if touched.
  • Descale the iron regularly according to the instructions in chapter ‘Cleaning and maintenance’ in the user manual.
  • When you have finished ironing when you clean the appliance, when you fill or empty the water tank and when you leave the iron even for a short while: set the steam control to the ‘dry ironing’ position, put the iron on its heel and remove the mains plug from the wall socket.
  • Type of water to use: The appliance is suitable to be used with tap water. However, if you live in an area with hard water, we recommend that you mix an equal amount of tap water with distilled or demineralized water. This will prevent fast scale build up and prolong the lifetime of the appliance.
  • Do not put perfume, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids or other chemicals in the water tank.
  • The plug must only be connected to a socket with the same technical characteristics as plug.
  • The filling hole must not be open during operation.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Ensure plug is removed from the main outlet.

  2. Set the selector switch to “Dry iron/no steam ****“position.

  3. Open the filling door and fill up the filling hole with water to max level.

  4. Close the filling door.

  5. Check the material of the garment to iron, (alternatively look at the garment tag for no. of dots indicated and match to temperature dial (T-dial)).

  6. Set the T-dial based on the type of the material (corresponds to no of dots indicated on the garment tag and type of steam to use).
    a. Note: Steam type

    • i. Eco- normal steam
    • ii. – medium steam
    • iii. – max/ high steam
  7. Plug the supply cords to the mains.
    ** Always ensure the iron is rested on its heel during set up, plug in, in idle state and when not ironing

  8. LED light will lit up during heating up. Once temperature stabilized, LED light will turn OFF.

  9. Select ironing conditions preferred based on the type of garments to iron

  10. Once temperature stabilized, proceed to ironing the garments.

  11. When in “dry ironing/ no steam “ mode and need to soften the garment. Press the spray button on top of the handle to release water on the garments,

  12. Alternatively, for one time shot of steam release, press the steam button ****.

For Vertical Ironing

  1. Set the T-dial to “MAX” position.
  2. Press steam button ****, and start to iron garments vertically.
  3. Press the iron directly and in contact with the garments to get the best results.
    **Never point the steam iron on hands and on person during ironing.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  1. Select the “dry ironing/ no steam ****“ position.
  2. Unplug the supply cord from the mains.
  3. Allow the temperature to cool down.
  4. Drain the water from the filling hole.
  5. Wind the supply cord around cord fix area.
  6. Wipe the soleplate with clean cloth.
    • a. Do not use liquid, soap while cleaning the soleplate.
    • b. Do not use steel wool or scrubbing pad to clean the soleplate
  7. Store the iron.

Calc Cleaning: Monthly

  1. Ensure plug is removed from the main outlet.
  2. Set the selector switch to “Dry iron/no steam ****“ position.
  3. Open the filling door and fill up the filling hole with water to max.
  4. Close the filling door
  5. Set T-dial to “MAX’’ temperature.
  6. Plug the iron cord to mains.
  7. Allow the iron to heat up, once temperature is achieved and stabilize the LED light will turn OFF.
  8. Unplug the iron cord.
  9. Switch the selector to “Calc Clean”.
  10. Bring the iron to sink or basin, shake the iron (back and forth) and press the button to purge the scales. Continue until water from the tank is gone.
  11. Plug the iron to the mains, to fast dry the soleplate.
  12. Unplug the cord from the mains and allow the iron temperature to cool down.
  13. Wipe the soleplate with clean cloth.
    • a. Do not use liquid, soap while cleaning the soleplate.
    • b. Do not use steel wool or a scrubbing pad to clean the soleplate.
  14. Wind the supply cord around the cord fix area.
  15. 1Store the iron.
