Product Usage Instructions

Setup

Place the device on a stable, horizontal, and flat surface. Ensure the battery is properly inserted, as indicated by LED lights.

Operation

Inflating with the Air Hose (5)

1. Unwind the air hose (5).
2. Screw the air hose onto the valve of the object to be inflated or attach one of the adapters (1), (3), (2) to the air hose and then connect it to the valve of the object.
3. Attach the volume hose (14) with the adapter to the object to be inflated.
4. Initiate the inflation process by pressing the Start/Stop button.

Inflating/Deflating with the Volume Hose (14)

1. To inflate, attach point a to the air outlet (18) and twist it into place.
2. To deflate, attach point b to the air inlet (17) and twist it into place.

Maintenance, Care, and Storage

Monitor the pressure level on the display. The inflation process stops automatically when the set pressure is reached. Always disconnect from power sources when not in use.

FAQ

• Q: How do I know when to replace the battery?
  • A : When the LED lights indicate low battery levels during operation, it’s time to recharge or replace the battery.

Specified Conditions of Use

The tool is intended for inflating bicycle and car tires and sports equipment using the adapters supplied. Furthermore, the tool is intended for inflating and deflating recreational equipment such as air mattresses and beds.
The tool is of limited suitability for inflating large-volume van tires. The tool is not suitable for operating air-powered tools.
The pressure gauge is not calibrated. Use a calibrated pressure gauge. e.g. to check tire pressures.
The use in the medical and food sector as well as refilling of oxygen tanks is not permitted.
Explosive, flammable or harmful gases must not be aspirated. Operation in potentially explosive rooms is not permitted.

Any other use does not comply with the intended purpose. Unspecified use, modification of the tool or use of parts that have not been tested and approved by the manufacturer can cause unforeseeable damage! Children, youths, and untrained persons must not use the tool.

Operate the tool only under supervision.

Work area safety

• a) Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• b) Do not operate the tool in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Tools create sparks that may ignite the dust or fumes.
• c) Keep children and other persons away while operating the tool.

Electrical safety

• a) Tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use adapter plugs. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.

• d) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations.
• e) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

Tool Use and Care

• a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
• b) Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Electrical devices that can no longer be switched on or off are dangerous and must be repaired immediately.
• c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack from the power tool before changing accessories, or storing the tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
• d) Store idle tools out of the reach of children. Do not allow persons unfamiliar with the tool or these instructions to operate the tool. Devices are dangerous when used by inexperienced personnel.
• e) Maintain power tools and accessories with care. Check that the moving parts are functioning properly and do not jam, that there is no breakage of parts or any other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
• f) Use the power tool, accessories, tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions. taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
• g) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Use and handling of the cordless tool

a) Only charge batteries with charging devices
recommended by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
b) Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.

Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.

c) When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery. Avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts the eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
e) Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
f) Do not expose the battery pack to fire or excessive temperatures. Fire or temperatures above 130 °C can cause an explosion.
g) Follow all instructions on charging and never charge the battery or the cordless tool outside the temperature range indicated in the operating instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

Service

• a) Have your tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only genuine replacement parts. This will ensure that the tool functions safely.
• b) Never service damaged batteries. Any servicing of batteries should only be carried out by the manufacturer or authorized customer service points.

Special Safety Instructions

The following residual risks basically exist for compressed air tools and cannot be remedied completely even with safety installations.

The danger of injury due to escaping compressed air and parts, which are carried along by compressed air!

• Never direct compressed air on people or animals.
• Ensure that all accessories used are rated for the working pressure.
• When loosening the connection pay attention that the compressed air contained in the compressed air hose escapes suddenly. Therefore get a firm grip of the end of the compressed air hose to be loosened.
• Ensure that all screwed connections are always tightened properly.
• Do not attempt to repair the pump yourself! Only professionals may carry out repairs on compressors and compressed air tools.

Hazard generated by insufficient personal protection gear!

• Wear hearing protection.
• Wear safety glasses.
• Wear a breathing mask for applications generating dust or when harmful gases, mist, or vapors are generated.
• Wear suitable work clothes.
• Wear non-slip footwear.

Hazard generated by machine defects!

• Keep tool and accessories in good repair. Observe the maintenance instructions.
• Before every use check the machine for possible damage: before operating the machine all safety devices, protective guards or slightly damaged parts need to be checked for proper function as specified. A damaged tool must only be reused after it has been correctly repaired.
• Check to see that all moving parts work properly and do not jam. All parts must be correctly installed and fulfill all conditions necessary to ensure the perfect operation of the tool.
• Damaged protection devices or parts must be repaired or replaced by a qualified specialist.

Specialized safety instructions for cordless devices

Protect battery packs from water and moisture!
Do not expose battery packs to fire!

• Do not use faulty or deformed battery packs!
• Do not open battery packs!
• Do not touch or short circuit battery pack contacts!

A slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak from defective Li-Ion battery packs!

If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your eyes, wash them with clean water and seek medical attention immediately!

• If the machine is defective, remove the battery pack from the machine.

Transport of Li-Ion battery packs:

• The shipping of Li-Ion battery packs is subject to laws related to the carriage of hazardous goods (UN 3480 and UN 3481). Inform yourself of the currently valid specifications when shipping Li-Ion battery packs. If necessary, consult your freight forwarder. Certified packaging is available from Metabo.
• Only send the battery pack if the housing is intact and no fluid is leaking. Remove the battery pack from the machine for sending. Prevent the contacts from short-circuiting (e.g. by protecting them with adhesive tape).

Additional Safety instructions

• Disconnect the connection cable (21) from the mains and remove the battery pack (23) from the tool before carrying out any conversion, maintenance or cleaning.
• Please also observe the special safety instructions in the respective chapters.
• Where applicable, follow the occupational health and safety directives or regulations for the prevention of accidents pertaining to the use of compressors.
• Observe the legal provisions for the operation of systems requiring monitoring.
• Consider environmental conditions:
• LED light (6): do not observe the LED radiation directly with optical instruments.

• Do not modify the tool.
• Risk of accident. Position the connection cables in such a way that no one is obstructed.
• Keep the connection cables away from sharp edges, do not bend, do not tie together, and do not place anything on them.

Initial Operation

Check for damage prior to commissioning. A damaged tool may not be put into operation.

Setting up

• Set up on a firm, horizontal, and level surface.
• The operating elements have to be easily accessible at any time.
• Position in a dry area protected from frost.

Power supply with battery pack

Charge the battery pack (23) before use. Recharge the battery pack if performance diminishes.
Instructions on charging the battery pack can be found in the operating instructions of the Metabo charger.
Battery packs have a capacity and signal indicator (25) (depending on design variant):

• Press the button (24), the LEDs indicate the charge level.
• The battery pack is almost empty and must be recharged if one LED is flashing.

Removing and inserting the battery pack
Removal:
Press the battery pack release (22) button and remove the battery pack.
Inserting:
Slide in the battery pack (23) until it engages.

Power supply with 12 V cigarette lighter connection cable

Do not use this product with a power supply from a 12V cigarette lighter while the vehicle is driving.
Before commissioning, check that the rated mains voltage, as stated on the type plate matches your power supply.
Ensure that the 12V cigarette lighter connection cable is not pinched or damaged.

1. Open the cable storage (19) and plug the 12V cigarette lighter connection cable (21) into the socket (20).
2. Completely unwind the 12V cigarette lighter connection cable (21) and plug it into a suitable 12 Volt cigarette lighter socket in your vehicle.
   • Note: Some cigarette lighter sockets only supply power when the ignition is switched on or the vehicle engine is switched on.

Use

Operate the tool only under supervision. Excessive pressure can burst the object being inflated and cause injury and property damage.

Inflate using the compressed air hose (5)

1. Unwind the compressed air hose (5).

2. Screw the compressed air hose onto the valve of the object to be inflated. Screw one of the adapters (1), (3), (2) onto the compressed air hose and then attach it to the valve of the object to be inflated.

   • Ensure that the attached adapter is screwed in firmly before starting the compressor.

3. Switching on the tool: Press on/off button (9). The display is on.

4. Switch between compressed air and blower by pressing the operating mode button (10) (P/V):

5. Select the required tool of pressure (BAR / PSI / kPa) by pressing the button (12).

6. Set the required pressure in the display by pressing the +/- (11).
   The set pressure must not be higher than the maximum permissible pressure of the object to be inflated. It may otherwise burst and cause injuries and property damage.

7. Starting the inflation process: Press the start/ stop button (13). The pressure reaches is shown on the display. The inflation process stops automatically when the set pressure is reached.

   • By pressing the start/stop button (13) the inflation process can be interrupted at any time.

8. Switching off the tool: Press on/off button (9). The display goes off.

9. Remove the pressure hose from the object to be inflated. If required, unscrew the adapter from the compressed air hose (5) and store it in the storage (4). Wind the pressure hose at the tool and clip it in place.

Inflating / deflating with the volume hose (14)

1. Remove the volume hose (14) from the tool and
2. a attach to the air outlet for inflation (18) (bayonet closure: align; plug in and turn anti-clockwise) ОГ…
3. b for deflation attach to the air inlet (17) (bayonet closure: align, plug in and turn anti-clockwise)
4. If required, from the volume hose (14) remove the adapter (15) and screw on a suitable adapter (15) from the storage (16).4. Attach the volume hose (14) to the object to be inflated using the adapter.
5. Switching on the tool: Press the on/off button (9). The display is on.
6. Switch between compressed air and blower by pressing the operating mode button (10) (P/V):
   • Adiustina the blower = svmbol:
   • Do not excessively inflate the object to be inflated. It may otherwise burst and cause injuries and property damage.
7. Starting the inflation process: Press the start/ stop button (13). By pressing the start/stop button (13) the inflation process can be stopped at any time.
8. Remove the volume hose from the object to be inflated and close its closure.
9. Switching off the tool: Press the on/off button (9). The display goes off.
10. Remove the volume hose from the air inlet or air outlet (bayonet closure: turn in the clockwise direction and pull off). Then insert it into the socket on the underside of the tool, wind it up at the tool, and clip it in place.

Transporting

Wind up the hose at the tool and clip it in place. Store the connection cable (21) in the cable storage and close the flap (19)
Carry the tool at the transport handle (8). Do not pull the tool from the hoses or the connection cable.

Maintenance, care, and storage

Before carrying out any work, switch off the tool. Remove the connection cable (21) from the mains and remove the battery pack (23) from the tool.
Repair and maintenance work other than that described in this section should only be carried out by qualified specialists.

Important information

Maintenance and test have to be planned and carried out in accordance with the legal provisions in line with the setup and mode of operation of the tool.

Regulatory authorities may ask to view respective documentation.

Regular maintenance Prior to every start

Check the hoses for damage and have them repaired if necessary.
Check that all screw fittings are seated securely, and tighten if necessary.
Check connection cable (21) for damage, replace with an original spare part if necessary.

Storage of tool

(23) from the tool.
Store the device in such a way that unauthorised persons cannot start it.

Do not store the saw outdoors, in unprotected areas or in damp or wet locations. Observe the permitted temperature ranges (see technical data).

Troubleshooting Guide

Compressor does not run:

• Is the battery pack empty? Charge the battery pack before use.
• Check to ensure the battery pack has been pushed in until it clicks into place.
• Switch on ignition or vehicle engine. Tool overheated, e.g. due to insufficient cooling (ventilation grate covered).
• switch the machine OFF;
• Remedy the cause for overheating. Leave to cool for about ten minutes.
• Switch the tool on again. Object to be inflated does not receive sufficient pressure.
• Set the required pressure in the display by pressing the +/- (11) button.
• Check the hose connection. Has the appropriate adapter been selected?

Accessories

Use only original Metabo or CAS (Cordless Alliance System) battery packs and accessories. Use only accessories that fulfil the requirements and specifications listed in these operating instructions.

Repairs

Repairs to electrical tools must ONLY be carried out by qualified electricians! Only original Metabo spare parts should be used.

A defective 12V cigarette lighter connection cable must only be replaced with a special, original 12V cigarette lighter connection cable from Metabo, which is available from the Metabo service.

Environmental Protection

Observe national regulations on environmentally compatible disposal and on the recycling of disused machines, packaging, and accessories.
Packaging materials must be disposed of according to their labeling in accordance with municipal guidelines. Further information can be found at www.metabo.com in the “Service” section. Battery packs may not be disposed of with regular waste. Return faulty or used battery packs to your Metabo dealer!

Do not allow battery packs to come into contact with water!

Only for EU countries: never dispose of power tools in your household waste! According to European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste from Electric and Electronic Equipment and implementation in national law, used power tools must be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
