Important Safeguards

Before Using Your Zojirushi

Before using the electric appliance, please do the following:

  1. Make sure that your electricity source is the same as the one shown on the rating label.
  2. Wipe the body of the appliance with a damp cloth.
  3. Wash the inner lid, inner pan, measuring cup, and other accessories in warm soapy water.

To use your Zojirushi appliance, follow these instructions:

  1. Place the appliance on a firm, flat surface.
  2. Fill with water to the level corresponding to the number of cups of rice to be cooked.
  3. Add the rinsed and drained rice to the inner pan.
  4. Set the inner pan into the main body of the appliance.
  5. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet.
  6. Press the cooking switch to start.
  7. When the switch moves up to the “Keep Warm” position, the rice is done.
  8. Stir the rice and let it set for 15 minutes.

Cleaning and Maintenance

After using your appliance, follow these steps for cleaning:

  1. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
  2. Remove the inner pan and wash it in warm soapy water.
  3. Wipe the main body with a damp cloth.
  4. Clean the heating element with a soft brush to remove any rice grains.

  • No, you should wash the inner pan by hand in warm soapy water.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Before using, keep plastic bags away from babies and children to avoid the danger of suffocation. Do not use plastic bags in cribs, beds, Carriages or playpens.

  1. Do not use it by or near children. This post is not intended for use by children.
  2. Do not overturn the pot as drinks may flow out.
  3. Do not drink directly from the pot.
  4. When carrying the pot, be sure not to hold the outer lid. Always use the handle.
  5. Do not remove the base of the pot unnecessarily. The glass liner in the pot may be damaged by the shock of improper handling.
  6. Make sure the stopper is tightly closed when not in use. In case of push-button types, make sure the push-button is closed.

How to Use

HOW TO FILL

  1. Before use, rinse out thoroughly with hot water.
  2. For hot drinks preheat with hot water and for cold drinks preheat with cold water.
  3. Only fill drinks up to about 3cm below the mouth of the inner bottle.
    • Do not fill with warm milk products or baby food, fresh juice, dry ice or carbonated drinks.
  4. When adding ice, first fill with drinks then add ice. Do not drop ice cubes inside as they may crack the glass liner.

HOW TO POUR

  1. Open the stopper. In case of push-button type, press the push-button.
  2. Tilt the pot and pour drinks.
    Do not tilt too much. otherwise, drinks may overflow from the lid.

HOW TO CLEAN

  1. Rinse the inner bottle with warm water after each use. Wash the stopper with lukewarm water and wipe dry.
  • Do not immerse the pot in water or wash it in the dishwasher. 2. As using the pot, you may find some glittering flakes floating or fur covering the inner wall of the inner bottle. They are fragments of a membrane that are formed by the combination of mineral ingredients such as silicic acid, magnesium and calcium which are contained in water.
    The “FLAKES” and “FUR” may be easily cleaned by the following instructions:
    Fill the inner bottle with hot water and add a 10% solution of clear vinegar or baking soda. Let stand for a few minutes and rinse thoroughly.

    1. Special treatment for push button type.
      (When the push button does not work.)

      • Press the push button 4-5 times while soaking the stopper in lukewarm water (40°C). Then let stand for 30 minutes.

      • About 30 minutes later, press the push button 10-15 times while keeping the stopper immersed in lukewarm water.
        (If the push button does not still function, repeat the steps detailed in items 1 and 2.)

      • When the push button functions normally, press it several more times in water and drain the water that has entered the stopper by referring to the drawing below.
        Shake the stopper while pressing the push button with your thumb.

    2. After draining the water, dry the stopper at room temperature.
