Setting up MD1600 in Bridge Mode:

1. Access the Configuration Manager by entering 192.168.0.1 in
   your browser.

2. Log in using the provided credentials (username: admin,
   password: motorola).

3. Navigate to Advanced Setup > Layer 2 Interface.

If you have ADSL:

• Select ADSL Interface and click Add.

• Enter the VPI and VCI numbers noted earlier on the ATM PVC
  Configuration page and click Apply/Save.

• Select WAN Service, Add, choose atm0, select Bridging, and
  click Apply/Save on the WAN Setup page.

If you have VDSL:

• Select VDSL Interface and click Add.
• Apply/Save the PTM Configuration.
• Select WAN Service, Add, choose ptm0, select Bridging, enter
  Priority and VLAN ID, and click Apply/Save on the WAN Setup
  page.

Factory Resetting MD1600:

1. Locate the Reset button near the power cable connection on the
   back of MD1600.

2. Press and hold the Reset button using a pin or paperclip for 3
   seconds until the power LED turns from Orange to green.

3. Wait for the unit to reset to factory settings.

Accessing Configuration Manager after Reset:

1. Once the power LED is green, access 192.168.0.1 in your
   browser.

2. Log in with the default credentials (username: admin, password:
   motorola).

3. Navigate to Advanced Setup > Advanced Setup and configure
   your Internet Connection settings.

MD1600: Bridge Mode for ADSL/VDSL
If you would like to use your MD1600 as a standalone DSL modem and use a new or existing router for wireless service in your home, please follow these instructions.
Power on your MD1600, plug in the power adapter and a phone line into the DSL port on the unit, once the Power LED turns solid green and the DSL LED is solid green, you will want to connect to the MD1600. This can be done in two ways, if you have a laptop or a desktop computer with an ethernet port built in or an ethernet adapter, you can run an ethernet cable from that device to one of the yellow LAN ports (1-4) on the MD1600. Conversely, you can connect wirelessly from your laptop or tablet by connecting to the MD1600’s wireless network. The default network is listed on the bottom of the MD1600’s registration sticker, under Network name and Wireless password.
Once you connect to the MD1600 wired or wirelessly, you will want to open up your internet browser on your device, be it Safari, Edge, Chrome, Firefox etc. On the top portion of the browser window will be the address bar, that will have the https:// and www. information. You will want to highlight that address bar and erase all of the information on that line and then type in 192.168.0.1, then press enter or Go. Please note this has to be typed in the address bar, not a search page, that will bring you multiple results rather than a direct page. If done correctly, this should bring you to a Welcome to Motorola page with a blue background.
If you have already configured your MD1600 for DSL service and just want to change it over to bridge mode, the login credentials for the 192.168.0.1 page are the word admin, all lower case, for the username and motorola, all lower case for the password. Once logged in, on the Internet Connection page:
If you have a DSL Type of ADSL, make note of your VPI and VCI numbers
If you have a DSL Type of VDSL, make note of your Priority and VLAN ID
If you are setting up your connection for the first time, the login credentials for this page are the word admin, all lower case, for the username and motorola, all lower case, for the password. Once logged in, the page should be titled Configure Your Internet Connection, make sure the Country and ISP are your current country and current provider. Select Yes, I would like to automatically detect my connection and click Next.
That should automatically find your connection, on the next page, titled Internet Connection
If you have a DSL Type of ADSL, make note of your VPI and VCI numbers
If you have a DSL Type of VDSL, make note of your Priority and VLAN ID

You can now close your browser window and we will Factory Reset the unit.
On the back of the MD1600, near where the power cable connects, there is a small pinhole outlined in red that says Reset above it. You will want to use a pushpin or paperclip, something long and narrow, to hold down that Reset button for 3 seconds. This will reset the MD1600 back to factory settings, meaning all prior configurations and settings will be erased.
Once the power LED on the MD1600 has turned from Orange to green, you will want to connect to the MD1600’s Configuration Manager, 192.168.0.1, like we did earlier and listed above.
Once logged in, select the Advanced button on the top right-hand side of the page.
On the left-hand side of the page, you should now see a submenu from here, select Advanced Setup.
Under Advanced Setup, select Layer 2 Interface:
If you have ADSL, select ADSL Interface, click Add.
On the page titled ATM PVC Configuration, enter the VPI and VCI numbers you made note of earlier and select Apply/Save.
On the same menu on the left-hand side, select WAN Service, select Add, select atm0 from the drop-down menu and click Next.
On the page titled WAN Service Configuration select Bridging and click Next.
On the page titled WAN Setup – Summary select Apply/Save

If you have VDSL, select VDSL Interface, click Add.
On the page titled PTM Configuration select Apply/Save
On the same menu on the left-hand side, select WAN Service, select Add, select ptm0 from the drop-down menu and click Next.
On the page titled WAN Service Configuration select Bridging and enter the Priority and VLAN ID you made note of earlier near the bottom of the page, listed under Enter 802.1 and click Next.

On the page titled WAN Setup – Summary select Apply/Save
You should now be able to connect a wireless router to the MD1600 which has essentially been converted to a standalone modem at this point.
Note – If your MD1600 is already set up in IPoE, Bridging pus NAT, and you’d like to switch to Bridge mode, the steps above should work for you.
If you are using PPPoA or 1483 Routed Encapsulation service for ADSL, these steps will not work.
