Thank you for purchasing FireNEXTM-80G, an innovative USB extension system for USB 3.2/2.0/1.1 devices and Newnex’s latest addition to its line of optical repeaters. This manual contains specifications of the package contents, a step-by-step installation guide, as well as our return policy, warranty, and where to find technical support.

Installation Guide

  WARNING

a. This product is sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Use an electrostatic wrist strap and/or conductive mat when executing the steps below.
b. Do not install or remove the Local PCIe card while the host PC is on. Always completely shut down the PC before switching the unit to other PCIe slots.

  1. Prepare the Host Computer
    a. Make sure the PCIe clock frequency is not overclocked and set it to the default or 100Mhz in the BIOS
    b. Disable PCIe Link State Power Management in Windows → advanced power settings

  2. Install the PCIe Local Unit
    a. Power off the host PC and open up the computer chassis
    b. Locate a PCIe slot on the motherboard that fits a PCIe x8 card
    c. Install the appropriate height PCIe bracket included that fits your chassis
    d. Gently push the Local Unit into the desired PCIe slot and secure the card with chassis screws

  3. Install the Remote Unit(s)
    a. Place the Local Unit near the USB devices to be extended
    b. Connect the DC power adapter
    c. Connect the desired length OS2 single mode duplex LC fiber cable from the Host Unit to the Remote Unit
    d. Repeat steps from 3a to 3c if installing multiple Remote Units

  4. Turn on system for the first time
    a. Power on the computer and verify the following LEDs on both the Local and Remote Units
    b. All drivers should be automatically installed with Windows and Linux OS
    c. Repeat steps from 1a to 5a if switching the PCIe slot or fiber cable
    Local UnitLocal Unit

Connect up to 8 USB 10Gbps Device(s)

  1. Connect USB Devices to the Remote Unit(s)
    a. Install driver/software required for the USB devices
    b. The connected USB devices can be hot plug and play
