FTP Selection:
Functional threshold power (FTP) is defined as the highest power that a
cyclist can maintain in a nearsteady state state for approximately 60 min
(FTP60). FTP power zones help control the type of training you want to do,
such as improving aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity, etc.
In order to give the light information by color of your FTP zone in which you
are, the first thing that will be asked when pressing any button is the FTP
that the athlete has. To do this, press the UP or DOWN keys and press ENTER to
confirm. If you don’t know your FTP, one way to calculate it is to take the
average power data over the 20 minutes and multiply it by 0.95. The value it
gives you is your FTP value. At any time when the machine is stopped, you can
press the ENTER button 3 times to modify the FTPs.
Exercise Target Setting:
Exercise Target Setting is the function as COUNTING DOWN by Time or
Distance. If user doesn’t set any Exercise Target as the free-ride mode then
the monitor will be counted up all exercising values.

Without releasing the previous button, press any button on the front of the console.
-
Once it turns on and shows the screen with “LEVEL”, etc., release the buttons and keep the ENTER and DOWN buttons pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds.
-
The number that appears is the Bicycle ID. If you want to change it, you have to press the UP or DOWN
buttons to adjust it to the desired number and press ENTER. Restart the console to finish setup. The trainer console must be set to ID 99.
Connection with SALTER GROUP CYCLING:
In order to have the functionality of guided group classes, you must have a TV
or projector where athletes can see their performance throughout the session.
With this option, an Android TV Box type device can be used to allow the
trainer to control the training APP remotely via a wireless mouse.
In case you have received an AndroidTVBox type system compatible with SALTER GROUP CYCLING, you will have to connect it to the power supply and also to the TV/projector via an HDMI cable. In this case, the trainer will control the session via a wireless bluetooth mouse connected to one of the USB ports of the AndroidTVBox device. This last one must come from SALTER as it is configured to work correctly with the SALTER GROUP CYCLING system.
It is not recommended that the bicycles and wireless mouse are more than 15 meters away from the AndroidTVBox device and that there are no obstacles (columns) in between blocking the signal.
How does SALTER GROUP CYCLING work?:
Access to the application
In case you have received an AndroidTVBox type system compatible with SALTER
GROUP CYCLING, you will need to:
-
Turn on and connect the wireless mouse to one of the USB ports of the AndroidTVBox.
-
Select “Sideload launcher”.
-
Select the icon.
-
Select the same button again.
-
Select the 3 horizontal bars.
“USER REGISTER” screen
This step is optional. All the bicycles will appear and the data (age, weight,
etc.) will be written only for users who want to obtain more precise
indications on the screen. In the event that they do not want to enter the
data, FTP will be set to 120 by default.
In order for the users to appear as visible, they must have pressed the ENTER
button for 2 seconds again after entering the FTPs and pedaling. Each console
will have its ID, so its number should be visible on this screen.
If the number is pressed, all data can be entered and/or training information
can be hidden from the bike.
In the case of not registering a user, a default value of 150 watts of FTP
will appear on the screen unless they later perform an FTP test.
There should not be more than one bike with the same ID number as the program
will then have trouble differentiating between them and will not work
correctly.
It is recommended that the trainer has ID 99 so that he is easily identifiable
at any time.
“START WORKOUT” screen
All the bicycles that are connected and pedaling will appear in the form of
data boxes. The size of the information boxes is resized depending on the
number of bicycles that receive their signal. When everyone is ready, the
trainer will press the top “play” button to start the class. Until then, the
information received doesn’t count as part of the training, it’s more like a
pre-ready and wait screen. Therefore, some of the screen switching options are
not enabled at this time.
FTP test
After the class has started, when you select the “chrono” icon, a message will
appear where you will select how much time you want to use to do the FTP test.
This test will serve to be able to assign each user an FTP number and be able
to take it into account throughout the session. If any user stops pedaling,
their FTP will be set to 150 watts. This test consists of generating the
highest average power during the test in order to check the physical fitness
limit of each one. The longer the duration, the greater the accuracy.
Users will be able to use the generated FTP number to include it in the future
on the bike.
The system will show the FTP calculation in real time during the
execution. There are two different data visualization screens: box view and
table view. The teacher can change the view by clicking anywhere on the box
screen or on the table.
At the end of the FTP test, the screen will show the results and the FTP value
of each participant in the class will be updated. The teacher can interrupt
the test at any time with the STOP button in the upper right corner. In that
case, the FTP of all participants will also revert to the default value of 150
watts.
By pressing the “Go back” button, the default power views will be navigated
and the training will continue with the new FTP values of each user.
Power: power (FTP %)
This view (default) shows Power information in real time. Relative power
(%FTP) and absolute information (watts). The background color changes
depending on the power zone the user is in.
Z1 (Grey) – potency less than 55% of your FTP: Active Recovery
Z2 (Blue) – power between 56-75% of your FTP: Aerobic Endurance
Z3 (Green) – power between 76-90% of your FTP: Tempo (fatigue resistance)
Z4 (Orange) – boost between 91-105% of your FTP: Threshold (FTP buff)
Z5 (Pink) – power between 106-120% of your FTP: VO2Max (maximal oxygen
uptake)
Z6 (Red) – power between 121-150% of your FTP: Anaerobic Capacity
(improve efficiency)
Z7 (Purple) – power greater than 150% of your FTP: Intramuscular power
(central nervous system activation)
FTP target
The teacher has the functionality to set a power target in real time during
class. Within the previous screen (Power FTP), by pressing any part of the box
area, a menu will appear to select the FTP area in which you want to work. The
users have to try to be in that color according to the watts they are making.
Participants will have to try to maintain the target area for as long as the
teacher decides. When the teacher deems it appropriate to end the training
with this objective, he will press the stop icon in the upper right part. At
that time, a training summary screen will be displayed, highlighting the boxes
for users who have met the target and darkening those for those who have not.
Compliance is calculated based on the arithmetic mean during the training mode
time.
To return to the real-time power view, simply press anywhere on the box
screen.
Average WATTS
This screen will display the average FTP of the entire class over time.
The coach will be able to set goals to reach a certain FTP zone among all.
Teamwork is also encouraged with average RPM and KCALS.
Cadence test
As in the “Target FTP”, by pressing any area of the screen, this time you can
select the desired cadence target. Once the test is over, those who have
managed to stay at that cadence will be illuminated.
The guide color is as follows:
Very low cadence < 60 rpm
Low cadence 60-79 rpm
Medium cadence 80-99 rpm
High cadence 100-120 rpm
Very high cadence > 120 rpm
On this screen you can set the desired cadence target for the participants. After entering the target and pressing START, the range will be set to +-2rpm of the initially entered value. For example, if 90RPM is entered, the range will be 88rpm – 92rpm.
Participants will need to stay within range to meet the target. As with power,
the training mode information will be displayed and the teacher can stop it by
pressing the STOP button. The system will highlight users who have met the
target and darken those who have been off target. Compliance is based on mean
values obtained during training mode.
Heart rate
This view shows the information related to the heart rate: relative data (%
HRmax) and absolute information (bpm).
On this screen, the real-time heart rate information of each student will
appear. Only students who have given their age and weight will have a
visualization of their cardio zone and will be able to work around it.
The background color of each box depends on the heart rate zone you are in.
Both the color of the box and the value of the % are based on the maximum
heart rate of the user, with which, if the teacher does not register this user
information, the system will only show the absolute information and the color
of the box will remain on grey.
Grid display
Screen to view all training information.
Competitions
All the members are divided into 4 teams with a color each. They will compete
in tests to get the highest average WATTs or calories. Depending on whether
your age and weight have been entered, the WATT/kg and gender competitions are
unlocked. The teacher will decide when to finish.
The system displays a first screen where you can view the distribution of
equipment by bicycle. The teams are randomly assigned at the beginning of the
training and will remain the same until the end. To choose the desired
competition, simply press anywhere on the screen on the colored circles or in
the upper right corner on the “Select competition” option. Here the teacher
can select the competition mode they want.
Each competition mode that is started opens a new training with its relative
time. This new training can be stopped at any time or restarted to start
another competition. When a new one is started, the competition values are
reset.
When the instructor decides to stop the competition with the STOP button, the
competition screen remains
to display the result. To return to the real-time data of the users and exit
the competition, simply press anywhere on the screen or in the upper right
corner on the “Go back” option.
The competition options vary based on whether the teacher reports user data or
not.
- The available competition modes are:
- Watts Avg. – Cumulative average watts of all participants.
- Kcal Avg. – Accumulated average calories of all participants.
- Watts/Kg: Only available if the instructor reports the weights of the participants before starting the training. Displays the cumulative average watts/kg of the participants.
- Gender: Only available if the instructor records the gender and weight information of the participants before starting the training. Shows cumulative average watts/kg for men and women. Summary view
When the instructor ends the training with the “stop” button, the software
displays a “Good job” message and starts calculating the average values for
each of the participants. The value information is organized in 3 different
screens: FTP% Summary, RPM Summary and Kcal Summary. In the upper right corner
the mean value of the entire class is sampled. To navigate between the 3
views, simply click on any part of the colored boxes.
HOME button: From the summary views, a button is enabled next to the global time that allows the application to be closed, although it remains running in the background. It is recommended to completely close the APP (Android close/exit options) before starting a new workout.
INSTRUCTIONS OF USE
Intensity adjustment: use the knob (27) to adjust the intensity of the workout.
