Product Precautions

Lift, Lock & Swing Dual-Mode Gate

  • Age: 6 to 24 months.
  • Adult installation required.
  • This gate is for use in openings from 28 to 42 inches (71.12 cm to 106.7 cm), in pressure installed / lift & away mode. The minimum opening is 30 inches (76.2 cm) in hardware mount / swing mode.

Read all instructions before assembly and use of product. Keep instructions for future use. Failure to follow these instructions could result in the death or serious injury of your child.

WARNING: Children have died or been seriously injured when gates are not securely installed.

  • ALWAYS install and use gates as directed using all required parts.
  • STOP using when a child can climb over or dislodge the gate.
  • Use only with the [locking/latching] mechanism securely engaged.
  • NEVER use to keep child away from pool.
  • Discontinue the use of the gate/enclosure if it becomes damaged, broken, or disassembled.
  • ALWAYS install as close to the floor as possible.
  • This product will not necessarily prevent all accidents. NEVER leave child unattended.
  • Intended for use with children from 6 months through 24 months.
  • Keep small parts away from children during assembly.

When used in Lift & Away Mode (Pressure Installed).
DO NOT USE AT TOP OF STAIRS IN LIFT AWAY MODE.

WARNING

  • You MUST install wall cups to keep gate in place. Without wall cups, child can push out and escape.
  • For bottom of the stairs use, place gate on lowest stair from the bottom.
  • To prevent falls, NEVER use gate in Lift and Away Mode (Pressure installed) at top of stairs.

When used at Top of Stairs (Swing Mode / Hardware Mounted)

WARNING:

  • TO PREVENT FALLS, NEVER use at top of stairs with four wall cups. You MUST install enclosed hardware, (hinge brackets and gate stops) to keep gate in place. Without using the enclosed hardware, (hinge brackets and gate stops), child can push out and escape.
  • Install gate a minimum of 2 inches (5 cm) away from edge of top stair.
  • DO NOT place gate on any stair below the top level stair.
  • If using over stairs, be sure to position gate stops so that they prevent the gate from swinging over the stairs.

CAUTION:

  • ALWAYS check regularly to ensure gate and locking systems are secure. Tighten locking hardware as necessary. DO NOT over-tighten.
  • DO NOT use gate if any parts are missing or broken. Contact Dorel Juvenile Group for replacement parts and instructional literature if needed.
  • DO NOT substitute parts or try to modify the product in any way. Parts not provided and approved by Dorel Juvenile Group may result in an unsafe product.

Tools needed:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Drill with 1/8″ size bit
  • Tape
  • Tape measure

To Install Lift & Away Mode

To Install – Lift & Away Mode (Pressure installed)

WARNING

  • To prevent falls, NEVER use gate in Lift and Away Mode (Pressure Installed) at top of stairs.

Lift & Away Mode Parts List

  • DO NOT USE AT TOP OF STAIRS.
  • Use anywhere at bottom of stairs, doorways or between rooms.
  • Install wall cups (Figures 1a-1h). NOTE: Position gate on the floor and center gate when adhering each of the 4 wall cups.

  • Remove paper backing from one side.
  • Adhere to outside of wall cup.
  • Remove paper backing from other side.

  • With gate on the floor, touch wall cup to wall.
  • Remove gate.
  • Repeat for 3 other wall cups.
  • Fasten each wall cup with screws.

Adjust gate width:

  • Slide lock & release button on handle and lift upward into unlocked position (Figure 2a).
  • Press width adjustment button and lift handle until line on handle points to width adjustment icon (Figure 2b).

NOTE

  • Avoid grasping both gate panels when lifting the handle as it may interfere with the movement of the handle.

Secure gate in opening

  • Slide panels so that all bumpers are firm against opening within the wall cups (Figure 3a).
  • Press handle down firmly until it locks (Figure 3b). Push forward on gate to ensure it is secure.

To Install Swing Mode

WARNING:

  • If using over stairs, be sure to position gate stops to they prevent gate from swinging over stairs.
  • When installing at top of stairs, install gate a minimum of 2″ (5 cm) away from edge of top stair (Figure A).

Install hinges:

Determine which side of opening gate will hinge from and place template with bottom fully touching the floor. Be sure the hinge bracket side of template is facing up. Place template a minimum of 2″ (5 cm) away from the edge of the top step (Figure A). Tape in place and follow the instructions on template (Figure 1a). Remove template. Drill pilot holes at all marks. Install lower and upper hinge brackets using pan head screws (Figure 1b).

  • If using over stairs, be sure to position gate stops so that they prevent gate from swinging over stairs. See “Gate Stop” Figures B, 2a and 2b.
  • When installing at top of stairs, install gate a minimum of 2″ (5 cm) away from edge of top stair (Figure A).

Install gate stops

NOTE: When mounted at top of stairs, you MUST use gate stops (Figure B). Position tall side of gate stops toward the stairs to prevent gate from swinging over stairs.

  • Place template with bottom fully touching the floor. Be sure the gate stop side of template is facing up. Tape in place and follow instructions on template (Figure 2a).
  • Remove template. Drill pilot holes at all marks. Install gate stops using flat head screws (Figure 20).

Install gate:

  • Orient gate with the handle away from the hinge side. Slide bumpers on gate into hinge brackets (Figure 3).

Adjust gate width:

  • Slide lock & release button on handle and lift upward into unlocked position (Figure 4a).
  • Press width adjustment button and lift handle until line on handle points to width adjustment icon (Figure 4b).

NOTE

  • Avoid grasping both gate panels when lifting the handle as it may interfere with the movement of the handle.

Secure gate in opening

  • Slide panels so that the bumpers are firmly against the gate stops (Figure 5a).
  • Press handle down firmly until it locks (Figure 5b). Push forward on gate to ensure it is secure.

Care and Maintenance

To Clean:

  • DO NOT immerse in water. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry.
