First use

  1. Removal of blanks

  2. Connect the adapter to the charging base.
Place the charging stand flat against the wall. Do not place objects on the left and right side in the vicinity of less than 0.5m and in front of the front side in the vicinity of less than 1.5m.
The base should not be located near objects with a strong reflective surface (mirrors). The base should not be located in direct sunlight. The sun’s rays can control the infrared rays that the base emits to return the vacuum cleaner to the charging station. Fully charge the device before starting it for the first time.

  3. Attach the side brushes

  4. Turning on the device
Press the power button on the top of the device for approximately 3 seconds. The device goes into standby mode.

  5. Connect the application according to step 4. Connecting to the application

  6. Mopping
In the case of the first mapping, it is recommended not to use the mopping mode and let the vacuum cleaner only vacuum the apartment/house. Subsequently, it is recommended to use the mopping function only after complete mapping and saving the map in the application.
If you attach a cleaning cloth on first start up, you increase the chance of the vacuum getting stuck on carpets, for example, interrupting the mapping. This can lead to the map not being saved and having to overwrite the map.
    a) Remove the dual container from the device, open the lid of the water tank and fill it. A low-foaming cleaning agent can be poured into the water container along with the water.
Then put the dual container back into the device.

    b) Reinsert the water and dust container

    c) Attach the mopping cloth to the mopping part with Velcro. Subsequently, attach the pomo part to the underside of the vacuum cleaner on the side of the dual container.

d) Attach the mop part to the vacuum cleaner.

  1. Start Automatic mode
Press the „Start“ button on the vacuum cleaner or select „Automatic mode“ in the app to activate the device. On first launch, Charles will start creating a map of the house/apartment.
Do not interrupt the device during this operation. Doing so may result in the map not being saved and the mapping having to be done again.

Connecting to the application

  1. Download the app by scanning the QR code with your mobile phone or search „ Niceboy ION“ in Google Play/Apple App Store and download the app.
  2. Open the „ Niceboy ION“ app and register a new account or use your existing one.
  3. After logging in to the application, to add a product, click on the „+“ in the upper right corner and then on „Add device“.
  4. Then go to the “Robotic Vacuum Cleaners” tab and select “Charles i9 Plus”.
  5. After selecting the Charles i9 Plus vacuum cleaner, select your WIFI and enter the password. Continue to the next page using the „Next“ button. Make sure AP mode is selected in the upper right corner. On the vacuum cleaner, press the Home button (return to the charging station) and the On/Off button at the same time for about 4 seconds until you hear a beep and the LED indicator starts to flash slowly. In the application, confirm that the light blinks slowly. Then go to the WIFI settings on your phone and connect to the hotspot of the vacuum cleaner called „ SmartLife -XXXX“ (in place of XXXX will be the number of your hotspot). Wait until your phone connects to the hotspot. Some devices may prompt you to disconnect from the hotspot due to not transmitting the internet connection. In this case, click on Keep connected and go back to the application. The device will automatically start pairing.
  6. After successfully connecting the device, it is possible to edit the name of the device and add it to the room of your choice. Click „Finish“ to enter the vacuum cleaner interface.

To connect to the application, it is necessary that your WIFI network transmits at a frequency of 2.4 GHz.

Cleaning modes

  1. After connecting with the application, a number of cleaning modes can be selected in the device interface.

  2. Automatic mode
After leaving the docking station, Charles pauses for mapping and positioning, then begins scanning the environment to create a map. Charles first goes through the rooms along the walls, then plans an „S“ shaped cleaning path. The vacuum cleaner will automatically create a cleaning area and automatically return to the charging station after cleaning.

  3. Selected zone
To activate the „Selected zone“ mode, you must first have the apartment/house mapped.
Use Automatic mode for initial mapping.
If you have already created a map, select the Selected Zone function and in the lower right corner click on the „+“ icon with the inscription „Cleaning Area“. Then edit the zone you want to clean and click „Start“.

  4. Selected room
To activate the „Selected room“ mode, you must first have the apartment/house mapped.
Use Automatic mode for initial mapping.
If you have already created a map, select the Selected room function and choose the rooms you want to clean.

  5. Spot cleaning
In case of contamination of a specific place, choose the spot cleaning function. Select a polluted spot and send Charles to clean it up. Charles then clears a 1.6×1.6m area in the specified area.

Additional features of the application

  1. Scheduled cleaning
In the application, you can set automatic cleaning at a specified time. After cleaning up, Charles returns to the charging station.

  2. Do not disturb mode
Charles will not start automatic cleaning when do not disturb mode is activated. In addition,
Charles turns off any voice instructions that might disturb you.

  3. Suction power and amount of water discharged
In the application, you can manually set the suction power and the amount of water discharged. Note that higher suction power reduces battery life when vacuuming.
In the application, you can also set the suction power and water discharge depending on the individual rooms.

  4. Prohibited zones
You can set one or more restricted zones in the application. Charles will not clean in the given areas and will only clean rooms outside of these zones.

  5. Automatic performance boost
When Charles detects carpets, it will automatically increase power for the best possible cleaning result.

  6. Manage maps
Up to 10 maps with different preset functions can be saved in the map management.

  7. Automatic continuation of cleaning
Charles remembers the last position when cleaning was interrupted and starts cleaning again from that position. For example, if the battery drops below 20%, Charles will resume cleaning where he left off when charged above 80%.

Maintenance

  1. Main brush
Remove the main brush cover, take it out, remove the hair wound on it, and then clean it
    with a cleaning brush.

  2. Dual container for water and dust
Before cleaning and maintaining the device and its accessories, switch off the vacuum cleaner and disconnect the charging stand.
Remove the dust box, open the dust box cover and throw away the garbage.
Remove the filters and knock them out. The filters are washable and the recommended washing is every 15-30 days depending on the pollution. The approximate lifetime of the filters is one year. The mop cloth is washable.

Do not submerge the entire container in water under any circumstances!

  1. Remove the dual container using the button on the back of the container.

  2. Open the dust container and empty the dirt from it.

  3. Remove all three filters.

  4. Wash the filters with clean running water and do not want to dry properly.

  5. After cleaning and drying, put the dual time back into the device.

  6. Side brushes
Remove the side bristles and wipe them with a clean cloth.

    Other components

In case of abnormal movement of the vacuum cleaner, clean the universal wheel from hair and other dirt.
Clean the sensor to ensure its sensitivity. Use a dry cloth to clean the charging connectors.
Always switch off the vacuum cleaner and unplug the adapter before cleaning the connectors!

To prevent the vacuum cleaner from falling, regularly clean the fall- preventing sensors.

For the most effective avoidance of obstacles, regularly clean the front bumper, under which the Red Sense infrared sensors are located.

The device has a powerful rechargeable lithium-ion battery. If the machine is not used for a long time, it must be turned off for storage and charged every three months to avoid damage to the battery due to excessive discharge. The standard warranty period for the battery or accumulators is 24 months. However, the warranty does not cover capacity loss caused by normal use. The standard battery life is six months, but it can be extended by proper handling and care of the battery or accumulator. Do not use third-party batteries, charging stations or power adapters in the device.
