Silex Technology AP800AX Compatible Industrial Access Points

Thank you for purchasing the industrial Access Point “AP-800AX”.
AP-800AX is an industrial Access Point that supports Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) and provides stable communication even in environments where wireless interference occurs, such as factories and warehouses.
As an AMC Mesh function is supported, wide coverage can be achieved by connecting multiple AP-800AX units.
This document explains how to configure and use AP-800AX in a wireless network.

Configuration Method

For configuration, use the AP-800AX’s Web page or the AMC Manager® utility.
There are 3 configuration methods below.

  1. Configuration using Configuration Mode (See this document)
  2. Configuration using AMC Manager® (See this document)
  3. Configuration using Smart Wireless Setup (See User’s Manual)

Necessary Items
The following items are required.

  • LAN cable
  • PC to use for configuration
  • PoE+ HUB or PoE injector
  • User’s Manual (download from the Silex Technology’s website)
  • AMC Manager® (when AMC Manager* is used)

If communication is received from a PC other than the PC you are using for configuration, the configuration mode cannot be used.
Also, if a PoE HUB is an intelligent HUB that supports STP, the configuration mode may not be available.

Downloading User’s Manual
The user’s manual can be downloaded from the Silex Technology’s website.

  1. When the website is displayed, click Support from the top menu.
  2. Select the product model and download the user’s manual.
  • To download AMC Manager®, click Software Download.
  • In the Software Download page, click AMC Manager”.

Configuration Using Configuration Mode

  1. Connect one end of the LAN cable to the PC and the other end to the “LAN” port of AP-800AX.Silex-Technology-AP800AX-Compatible-Industrial-Access-Points-FIG-2
  • If wireless LAN is enabled on the PC, please disable it. 2. Prepare another LAN cable and connect one end of the LAN cable to PoE HUB and the other end to the “LAN/PoE” port of AP-800AX.Silex-Technology-AP800AX-Compatible-Industrial-Access-Points-FIG-3 3. Check that AP-800AX can communicate with the PC.

    • Confirm that an IP address is properly configured on the PC.
      How to check on Windows 10
      See the icon in the task tray ( ) to check that the wired LAN is ready to use on the PC.

    • Confirm that a wireless LAN is disabled on the PC.

    1. When AP-800AX is turned on, press and hold the RESET switch with a pointed object such as a pen (1). Keep holding it, and when the MODE LED blinks orange (2), release the switch (3) (it takes about 5 sec until the MODE LED blinks).     2. Start a Web browser on the PC you are using for configuration. When the login password configuration page appears, enter the password to configure for AP-800AX and click Submit.Silex-Technology-AP800AX-Compatible-Industrial-Access-Points-FIG-32
    3. The login page is displayed. Enter the login password you have configured and click Login.

    6. When the settings have been saved, the following message is displayed. To continue the configuration, select the page you want to configure from the menu and configure the necessary settings. When the configuration is finished for all necessary settings, click Apply Config.
    7. When the Apply Config page is displayed, click Restart.
    8. Remove a LAN cable from AP-800AX and the PC. The configuration using configuration mode is completed.

Configuration Using AMC Manager®

Download AMC Manager® and install it to the PC (For how to download, see Downloading User’s Manual on the back).

  • During the explanation of initial configuration, AMC Manager® Free (free version) will be used.
  • Although AMC Manager® Free is used for explanation, the configuration method will basically be the same even if you are using AMC Manager® (paid version) for which you purchased a license key.

Change the wired LAN network setting of the PC to allow communication with AP-800AX.

  • Sample network setting)
    When the IP address of AP-800AX is “169.254.30.127”, change the wired LAN network setting of the PC as follows.

  • IP Address: 169.254.30.100

  • Subnet Mask : 255.255.0.0

  • Please be sure to set a unique address to your PC, that is not used by AP-800AX.

  • By default, AP-800AX automatically obtains an IP address since the DHCP client function is enabled. When there is no DHCP server in your environment, AP-800AX operates with the address “169.254.xxxxxx”.

Connect one end of LAN cable to the PC and the other end to “LAN” port of AP-800AX.

  • Prepare another LAN cable and connect one end of the LAN cable to PoE HUB and the other end to “LAN/PoE” port of AP-800AX.

  • Click Start – silex Tools – AMC Manager to start AMC Manager®. When AMC Manager® is started, AP-800AX is displayed in a device list. Select AP-800AX and click the icon Configure the device ( ).

  • The password registration window is displayed.

  • Enter the login password to configure for AP-800AX and click Register.

  • The login password configuration page is displayed only when AP-800AX has the factory default settings.

  • Once configured, it will not be displayed again.

  • Make a note of the password so that you can refer when you have forgot it.

  • When the password configuration is finished, AP-800AX is restarted.

  • Click Close when the window below appears.

  • From the AMC Manager®’s main window, select AP-800AX again and click the icon Configure the device ( ).

  • When the password entry screen is displayed, enter the password that you have set at 6, and click OK.

  • The device configuration window appears.

  • If a configuration category is clicked on the left side of the screen (1), the corresponding setting is displayed on the right side (2).

  • Check the check boxes of the items to update, and change the values (3).

  • The setting whose check box is checked will be configured to AP-800AX.

  • For the setting you do not want to change, clear the check box.

  • When the necessary settings are changed, check the check box of

  • Restart the device after this configuration (1), and click Execute (2).

  • The configuration result is displayed. AP-800AX will automatically restart and operate with the new settings.

  • Click Close.

  • Remove a LAN cable from AP-800AX and the PC.

  • The configuration using AMC Manager® is finished.

Product Installation

  • Align the bracket (Bracket Type XI) with the screw holes on the back of

  • AP-800AX and fasten them with screws. (* The bracket is sold separately.)

  • After attaching the bracket to AP-800AX, hold it to the wall and mark the positions of the four screw holes. Drill a pilot hole at the marked positions on the wall and insert the anchors.

  • Please be careful not to tilt AP-800AX.

Fix AP-800AX to the wall.
Align the screw holes of the bracket with the anchors inserted at 2 and screw them.

  • Silex Technology is not responsible for any damages caused by insufficient mounting.
  • Make sure that AP-800AX is securely fixed to the wall so that it does not fall due to the weight of the product and cables.
  • Connect one end of the LAN cable to PoE HUB and the other end to “LAN/PoE” port of AP-800AX.

Factory Default Configuration

  • Follow the instructions below to reset AP-800AX to the factory default setting.

  • Remove a LAN cable that connects AP-800AX to the PoE HUB.

  • While pressing the RESET switch of AP-800AX with a pointed object such as a pen (1), insert the LAN cable back into the “LAN/PoE” port (2).

  • Keep pressing the RESET switch.

  • When the SETTING LED turns orange (1), release the RESET switch (2).

  • The factory default configuration begins.

  • When the POWER LED of AP-800AX turns green, the factory default configuration is completed.
