GETTING STARTED
Your One For All Smart Control Pro is a Universal Remote Control capable of
controlling up to 6 Audio Video devices. To set up the remote to control your
devices, you will need to install the My Nevo app.
This can be downloaded from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Once downloaded, please open the app and give it permission to use Bluetooth.
This is used to communicate between your phone and the remote.
- When the app starts, choose the OFA Smart Control Pro as your remote.
- The app will ask you to hold down the OK key for 3 seconds. Do this and you should see the blue LED under the TV key start blinking. Then click on Search for remote.
DEVICE SETUP
Once the app has located your remote, you can follow the instructions to set it up to control your Audio Video devices – we recommend setting up your TV first of all.
- You will be asked to choose from the top brands for your device, scroll to the right to see more or to manually search if your brand is not listed.
- Next you will be asked to test the remote with the device you are setting up.
Point the remote towards the device and try some keys as prompted.
Note that the keys shown are just examples and may not be present on your
original remote. You can try any of the keys on the remote to see if it
behaves the same as your original remote.
Once you are satisfied the remote is controlling the device, select “Keys
work!”.
- The device in question will be set up on the appropriate Device key (in this case TV) and also added to an Activity (in this case Watch TV, as indicated by the TV icon).
- Repeat these steps for any other devices you want to set up, such as a Sound Bar, set Top Box etc.
DEVICES AND ACTIVITIES
The Smart Control Pro has 2 ways of controlling your AV equipment; Device Mode and Activity Mode.
DEVICE MODE
In Device Mode, the remote behaves exactly as your original remote does, all
the keys will control the device you have selected. To control a device, just
press the key that corresponds to the device type you set up. For Instance, if
you press
the TV key, all the keys on the Smart Control will control your TV. If you
then press the STB key, the remote will then control your Set Top Box. This
gives you the most complete control over each of the devices you have set up.
You can program the remote to control up to 6 devices.
ACTIVITY SETUP
Activities are combinations of devices. Up to 3 devices are combined into one Activity. These will be your TV, an Audio device such as a sound bar, and a source device like a Streaming box or Blu-ray player.
The Smart Control Pro features 3 Activities as shown here; namely Watch TV,
Watch Movie and Listen to Music.
As you add devices, they will be automatically added to Activities. Your TV
and Audio device will first be set up on the Watch TV Activity. The next
device you set up will be added to Watch Movie Activity (along with the TV and
Audio) and the third device you set up will be added to Listen To Music.
If you are adding a device which is connected to your TV (for example a Set
Top Box), you will be asked to test to see which HDMI input of your TV it is
connected to. The remote will remember this.
ACTIVITY CONTROL
When you press an Activity key, the remote will make sure that the devices you
want to control are powered on and the correct input on your TV is selected.
After that the remote will control a combination of devices.
If you set up a Streaming box and you select the Watch Movie Activity, the
remote will power on your TV, Streaming Box and Sound Bar and make sure the TV
is on the correct HDMI input. After that, the Volume keys will control your
Sound Bar, the Input key will work for the TV, and the Playback keys will
control the Streaming Box. All other keys will also control the Streaming Box.
| If one or more devices did not power on or the TV is not on the right HDMI
Input when you selected the Activity, hold down the Input key while pointing
towards the TV to perform the AV Sync function. This should correct the issue
for you.
---|---
| Pressing the Power key when in an Activity mode will turn all the devices in
that Activity Off.
If you would prefer a different combination of Activities, this can be changed by selecting Activities in the My Nevo app.
APP SHORTCUTS
The Smart Control Pro also gives you quick access to your favorite streaming apps, even if there was no key for them on your original remote. The four keys shown below can each open one app and have been designed to resemble the icons for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + and YouTube.
If available on your original remote, these keys should perform the same
function and open the app directly.
If there is no way of directly opening that app on your device, you will be
asked to program a real time macro (series of commands) that will always open
the app, for example, pressing the Home key, waiting a couple of seconds and
then pressing Menu Right twice and then OK.
To program these keys, select App Shortcuts from the main menu of the app.
APPENDIX 1 – LEARNING
Once you have set up your Devices and Activities using the My Nevo app, it is
also possible to add extra functions from your existing infrared remote
controls (this is not possible for remotes that use Bluetooth like Amazon Fire
or Google TV Voice remotes).
This can be useful if you find that there is a key that you use occasionally
on the original remote that is not available of the Smart Control Pro.
Firstly, choose a key that you do not use for the device you wish to learn
from – in this example we will use the Dash key which is not used for Blu-ray.
Next, take the original remote and point towards the top of the Smart Pro,
approximately an inch apart.
- Press and release the Device key to learn the functions to (for example BL. RAY)
- Press and hold Back and Exit until the LED under the key blinks twice
- Press 975 (LED should blink twice)
- Press and release the key to learn onto on the Smart Pro (e.g. Dash). The LED should rapidly flash
- Press the key to learn from the original remote. If successful the LED should blink twice
- If you want to learn more than one key, then within 5 seconds repeat steps 4 and 5 with the subsequent keys
- When all keys are learned, do not touch a key for 10 seconds or more – the remote will time out of the learning mode
After this, the keys you have learned should work as they do on the original remote control.
**APPENDIX 2 – HOW TO SET UP TV WITH GOOGLE TO USE VOICE ON THE SMART
CONTROL PRO**
If you have a TV running the Google TV Operating System, for example a Sony or TCL TV, most of the functionality works by infrared (IR). But in order to use voice search, it is necessary to pair the remote with the TV using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). To do this:
Step 1 – Set up your TV
Firstly install the My Nevo app and follow the instructions to communicate
with the Smart Control Pro remote. The app will check to see if your remote
has the latest firmware and if it doesn’t it will automatically update the
remote.
Once this has been done you will be prompted to set up your TV.
Select the brand of your TV and the app will ask you to test some keys to see
if it works. You can test all the keys on your remote, including for example
the Netflix key to make sure you have exactly the right code. If there is a
key you have on your original remote that is not working on the Smart Control
Pro, select Try Next. Once the keys work, select Keys Work. Your TV is now set
up.
Step 2 – Pair the remote with the TV via Bluetooth
Once your TV has been set up, the next step is to pair the remote with the TV
via Bluetooth. To do this, select the option to add another device, and select
Streaming Device. Next select Google TV.
The next step is to prepare your TV to be paired with the Smart Control.
Please use your TV’s ORIGINAL remote control to do the following:
- Select the Setting icon on your TV (generally speaking a on the top right) and scroll to the setting for adding remotes and/or accessory.
- Select the option for adding an accessory – the TV should start searching for a new accessory.
- Following the instructions on the app, hold down the Home key on the Smart Control Pro for 10 seconds, until the blue Stream LED starts blinking.
- The remote should appear in the list of accessories to pair. It may appear as AR (Advanced Remote). If it does not appear in a few seconds, press back on the original remote and search again.
- Once the AR remote appears press OK / Select on the original remote control. The TV should then pair with the remote.
- Once paired, the remote will appear in the accessories list as OFA Smart Control Pro.
USING THE VOICE SEARCH
Once the procedure has been completed, you can use Voice Search on your TV by selecting the Stream Device mode, or the Watch Movie Activity mode. Then when you want to use voice, hold down the Menu/Mic button, wait one second and speak clearly into the top center of the remote.
