DAB 700 Portable Radio
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Do not dispose of this product with the normal household waste at the end of
its life cycle. Return it to a collection point for the recycling of

- Make sure the mains cable stays dry during operation. Do not pinch or damage the mains cable in any way.
- A damaged mains cable or plug must immediately be replaced by an authorized service center.
- In case of lightning, immediately disconnect the device from the mains supply.
- Children should be supervised by parents when using the device.
- Clean the device with a dry cloth only.
- Do NOT use CLEANING AGENTS or ABRASIVE CLOTHS!
- Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or other heat sources.
- Install the device at a location with sufficient ventilation in order to prevent heat accumulation.
- Do not cover the ventilation openings!
- Install the device at a safe and vibration-free location.
- Install the device as far away as possible from computers and microwave units; otherwise radio reception may be disturbed.
- Do not open or repair the enclosure. It is not safe to do so and will void your warranty. Repairs only by authorized service/ customer center.
- No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the unit.
- When you are necessary to ship the unit store it in its original package. Save the package for this purpose.
- In case of malfunction due to electrostatic discharge or fast transient (burst), remove and reconnect the power supply.
- If the unit is not using for a long period of time, disconnect it from the power supply by unplugging the power plug. This is to avoid the risk of fire.

INSTALLATION
CONTENT OF DELIVERY

POWER SUPPLY
➢ Ensure that the voltage is the same as that indicated on the ac adapter
identification plate.
➢ Connect the supplied AC adapter to a properly installed safety power socket
and the plug of the cable into the DC IN jack at the back side of the unit.
BATTERY OPERATION
- Open the lid of the battery compartment at the bottom of the unit.
- Insert 5 batteries of type LR14 (“C” size) 1.5 V. Please ensure that the polarity is correct (see indicated in the battery compartment).
- Then close the battery lid.
Note:
➢ When the unit is only powered by batteries, power on the unit and the
battery symbol will show on the display.
➢ When the batteries are low power, the battery symbol will flash and the
sound of the unit will distortion due to the low power. Please change the
batteries in time
➢ When the unit is powered by the batteries, there will be no memory function
after power off the unit.
➢ When the unit is powered by batteries, in order to play longer time, it is
better not adjust the volume to max.
➢ In battery operation, the display is switched off in standby.
ERP power management
The unit will turn off automatically after 30 minutes in standby mode if there
is no audio signal. To turn on the unit again press the “ST/BY / MODE”
button.
BASIC OPERATIONS
POWER ON / OFF
Press “ST/BY / MODE” button to turn the unit on.
Press and hold “ST/BY / MODE” button to turn off the unit in standby mode.
SELECTING MODES
During playing mode, press the “ST/BY / MODE” button repeatedly to switch
between the modes.
ADJUSTING VOLUME
Press the “VOLUME –“ or “VOLUME +“ button to decrease or increase the volume.
MUTE (only in DAB mode)
During playing mode, press the “SELECT/ENTER” button, the sound will not be
heard from the speaker.
Press the “SELECT/ENTER ” button again or the “VOLUME –“ or “VOLUME +“ button
to cancel the mute function. The sound can be heard from the speakers again .
DAB
- Press the “ST/BY / MODE” button repeatedly to select the DAB mode.
- At the first start the unit will automatically start the scan function and search all available stations.
- During the scan the display will show “Scanning ………” together with a slide bar that indicate the progress of the scan and the number of stations that have been found.
- After the scan has finished, the unit will select the first alphanumerically found station.
- To explore the found stations, rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm the selected station.
Note: If no stations are found after auto scan, the unit will enter back into the Tune Select Menu.
DAB FULL SCAN
The full scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan
has finished, the first alphanumerically found station will be automatically
selected.
- To activate full scan, press the “MENU” button to enter into the menu.
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” button to select “Full Scan” and press the “SELECT/ENTER” button to confirm. The display will show “Scanning ………” together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the number stations that have been found so far.
- All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To select a station, rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm the selected station.
DAB MANUAL TUNE
As well as the full scan function, you can manually tune the radio. This can
help if you know your radio has missed stations.
- Press the “MENU” button to enter the menu and choose with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob “Manual mode” and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm.
- Choose with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob the DAB channel from 5A to 13F.
- After your desired DAB channel number is selected, press the “SELECT/ENTER” button to enter the current multiplex. Now the display will show the multiplex and below you will see the signal strength.
- You will not see any new radio stations or hearing anything while in manual tune. To find the newly tuned in stations search through the station list.
STORE RADIO STATIONS
In either DAB or FM, you can store up to 20 of your favorite stations to the
memory. This will enable you to access your favorite stations quickly and
easily.

To store a station select the desired station with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm. Press and hold the “PRESET/MEMORY” button. The display will show “Preset Store” and below “<1: (Empty) >”.
Note: If there is a station that already stored, it will show the stored “Station name/ frequency and P#”. -
Select with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob your desired preset station number and the press the “SELECT/ENTER” button to confirm. The station will be stored and the display will show “preset # stored”.
-
Repeat step 1 and 2 to store further stations.
You can also save the desired radio station directly to station buttons 1, 2 or 3. To do this, select the desired radio station and hold the corresponding station button pressed until “Preset # stored” appears on the display.
RECALL STORED RADIO STATIONS
- To recall a stored station, press the “PRESET/MEMORY”. Choose with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob the desired station and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm.
- If you choose a preset station number that has not been allocated a station,” Empty” will displayed.
To call up a saved station, press the corresponding preset station button on the device.
DAB DISPLAY INFORMATION
Press the “INFO” button repeatedly to cycle through the information modes. The
information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.
DRC (Dynamic range compression)
This function reduces the difference between the loudest and quietest audio
being broadcast.
Effectively, this makes quiet sounds comparatively louder, and loud sounds
comparatively quieter.
Note: DRC only works if it is enabled by the broadcaster for a specific station.
- Press the “MENU” button and rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to select the DRC, press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm.
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to select the desired mode you would like: off/high/low
PRUNE INVALID
You may remove all unavailable stations from the list.
- During DAB mode, press the “MENU” button. Then rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to select “Prune” and press the “SELECT/ENTER” button to confirm.
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to select “Yes” and press the “SELECT/ENTER” button to confirm delete or select “No” to cancel.
FM
Press the “ST/BY / MODE” button repeatedly to select the FM mode.
AUTOMATIC STATION SEARCH
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob clockwise and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob. The radio begin to search forward and will automatically stop when a station is found.
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob counter-clockwise and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob. The radio begin to search backward and will automatically stop when a station is found.
MANUAL STATION SEARCH
Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob until the desired radio station is found.
Note: In order to get a better reception, please adjust the antenna position.
Under the “Audio setting mode”, choose the mono mode , the FM reception effect
will be better.
AUTO STORE RADIO STATIONS
Press and hold the “SELECT/ENTER” button to start the auto scan. During the
scan the display will show “Scanning…”. After the scan has finished, the unit
will select the first found station.
STORE RADIO STATIONS
To store radio stations is the same as in DAB mode.
RECALL STORED RADIO STATIONS
To recall radio stations is the same as in DAB mode.
FM DISPLAY INFORMATION
Press the “INFO” button repeatedly to cycle through the information modes. The
information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.
SCAN SETTING (Strong Stations/ All Stations)
- Press the “MENU” button to enter into the “Tune Select Menu”. The display will show” “Scan setting”.
- Press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to enter the scan setting. Rotate and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to select the desired scan mode.
AUDIO SETTING (Stereo allowed/ Forced mono)
- Press the “MENU” button to enter into the “Tune Select Menu”. Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to choose “Audio setting” and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm.
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to select the desired audio setting “Stereo allowed” or “Forced mono”. Press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm.
BLUETOOTH ®
If you are using a Bluetooth audio device, make sure the working distance is
within 10 meters.
Different environment may have effect on the working distance.
- Press the “ST/BY / MODE” button repeatedly to select the Bluetooth mode (“Bluetooth mode” will flash in the display).
- Turn on the Bluetooth function on your audio device and choose “DAB700”. After your audio device is paired successfully, the “Bluetooth mode” will stay on.
- Press the “SELECT/ENTER” to start or interrupt the playback.
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to choose the previous or next track. This unit contains also a hands-free function. If you have connected a mobile phone by
Bluetooth and you get a call, press the “SELECT/ENTER” button to activate the function. To deactivate the function press the “SELECT/ENTER” button again. The music playback will be continued.
USB / MICRO SD
The function can only be selected when USB stick or Micro SD Card is inserted!
- USB: Plug the USB device at the back side of the unit. MICRO SD: Plug the Micro SD Card into the Micro SD Card slot at the back side of the unit.
- Press the “ST/BY / MODE” button repeatedly to select the USB or MICRO SD mode.
- Press the “SELECT/ENTER” to start or interrupt the playback.
- Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to choose the previous or next track.
AUX
- Plug the AUX cable at the back of the unit (not included)
- Press the “ST/BY / MODE” button repeatedly to select the AUX mode.
- Start the playback of your external device.
SLEEP
- Turn the radio on and press the “SLEEP/NAP” button to active the sleep function.
- Press the “SLEEP/NAP” button repeatedly to choose the sleep time 15/30/45/60/90
- The unit will power off after the time which you choose.
This symbol will show on the display when you turn on the sleep function
Note:
- If you want to check the sleep left time, press the “SLEEP/NAP” button one time after you set the sleep time.
- If you want to reset the sleep function, press the “SLEEP/NAP” button repeatedly until “Sleep off” is shown in the display.
ALARM
SET THE ALARM
- While switched on, press the “MENU” button and turn the “SELECT/ENTER” button to select the “System” function and press the “SELECT / ENTER” button.
- Use the “SELECT/ENTER” button to select the “Alarm” function again and press the “SELECT / ENTER” button.
- Now select “Alarm 1” or “Alarm 2” and confirm again by pressing the “SELECT/ENTER” button.
- Press the “SELECT/ENTER” button again and set the hour with the “SELECT/ENTER” button. Press this to confirm the setting. The minutes start to flash.
- Set the minute with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press them to confirm. The duration time is flashing in the display.
- Set the time (15/30/45/60/90/120) with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press them to confirm.
- Select the wake-up source (Buzzer/DAB/FM) with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press them to confirm. If you select DAB or FM you can choose between the last listened station or one of the preset stations.
- Select the wake-up mode (Daily/Once/Weekends/Weekdays) with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press them to confirm. If you select “Once” you can set the date for the alarm.
- Adjust the wake-up volume with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press them to confirm.
- Select “Alarm On” or “Alarm Off” to activate or deactivate the alarm.
- The setting is finished and the display show “Alarm finished”.
ACTIVATE / DE-ACTIVATE THE ALARM
- Follow steps 1-3 from the “Set alarm” item to select the desired alarm.
- Turn the “SELECT/ENTER” button and select “Alarm on” or “Alarm off” to activate or deactivate the selected alarm. Press the “SELECT / ENTER” button to save the selection. “Alarm clock saved” appears on the display.
SNOOZE
Press the “SNOOZE / DIMMER” button to interrupt the alarm tone. If you press
the button repeatedly you can choose the snooze time: 5 – 10 – 15 – 30
minutes.
TURN OFF ALARM
Press a button on the device (except “SNOOZE / DIMMER”) to switch off the
alarm tone. The alarm is not completely de-activated!
NAP
- When power off, press the “SLEEP/NAP” button to active the NAP function
- Press the “SLEEP/NAP” button to choose the NAP time 15/30/45/60/90/Off. The unit will power on after the time which you choose.
This symbol will show on the display when you turn on the nap function
Nap time (15/30/45/60/90/off), the unit will power on automatically when the
nap time is finished.
Note:
- If you want to check the nap left time, press the “SLEEP/NAP” button one time after you set the nap.
- If you want to reset the nap, press repeatedly the “SLEEP/NAP” until “Nap off” is shown in the display.
DIMMER
Press repeatedly the “SNOOZE / DIMMER” button to adjust the display brightness in three steps. You can select the brightness high/medium / low during on mode and medium / low/off (display off) in standby mode.
SETTINGS
Set the unit in DAB mode and press the “MENU” button. Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to “System” and press the “SELECT/ENTER” button to confirm. To choose the desired adjustment, rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm. Press the “INFO/BACK” button to log out.

Equalizer
Choose the desired mode of the equalizer: MyEQ/Normal/Classic/Jazz/Pop/Rock/Speech
If you choose “MyEQ”, select with the “SELECT/ENTER” knob the desired EQ: Treble/Bass. Press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm the desired EQ mode. Set the desired EQ value by rotating the “SELECT/ENTER” knob and press them to confirm.
Note: When choose the customize EQ, please choose the suitable data, different music will have different effect. If the sound is distorted, please adjust the EQ ata. -
Time
Set manual time/date, set 12/24 hour, set date format -
Backlight
Set the backlight for “On level” and “Dim level” -
Language
Set the desired language: English – French – German – Italiano -
Factory Reset
Rotate the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to “Yes” and press the “SELECT/ENTER” knob to confirm the reset. All stations and adjustments will be deleted! Select “No” to cancel the factory reset.
Note: If there is any system error or the unit cannot be operated normally, unplug the power adaptor first. -
