  • Careium supplies social alarm hardware and software, and operates alarm-receiving centers in Sweden, Norway, and UK. We have employees across Europe.
  • We consider the risk for modern slavery and human trafficking in our own business as very limited. We are aware of the risks in the supply chain. We primarily manufacture hardware in China and purchase and provide services in Europe. We have a limited number of direct suppliers and manufacturing partners for hardware, and those suppliers are used also by other European and US technology companies. The major risks for modern slavery and human trafficking are therefore believed to be found further down the supply chain.
  • We work continuously to find ways to minimize risks in our supply chain. Our ESG policy for Careium suppliers is included in all new contracts and in any re-negotiated agreements. In the policy, we also express an expectation that suppliers will place similar demands on their subcontractors. If a supplier does not comply with the requirement, our position – as far as possible – is to encourage improvements through joint efforts. Serious violations and any unwillingness to cooperate can, however, affect the relationship with the supplier.
  • Relevant suppliers are visited by our representatives to ensure they comply with their commitment to the requirements in our ESG policy. The intervals of such visits are based on their risk of not meeting requirements. Where relevant, we engage third parties to audit suppliers and evaluate their compliance with our requirements as well as legal requirements.
  • The policies that describe our approach to identifying modern slavery risks and steps to be taken to prevent slavery and human trafficking are Careium Business ethics, ESG policy for Careium suppliers, and Whistleblowing policy.

This statement covers the financial year 2022 and has been approved by the board of directors, on 2023-03-15.
