Description of functions

Smoke detector i10 is battery operated with a built-in radio transmitter adapted for use with Careium Carephones. The smoke detector is easy to install and has an automatic battery monitoring which will send a low battery message to the Careium  Carephone’s when battery is almost empty and smoke detector need to be replaced. Smoke detector i10 can be used as single unit or wireless interconnected, see user manual for more  information.

Activation of alarm

In case of smoke the warning signal is activated to alert the residents of the danger. At the same time the built-in radio transmitter activates an alarm in the Careium Carephone to summon help.

Silence function

To silence a non-emergency alarm ex. caused by cooking fumes, press the test button (“Fig. 1”) when it is sending an alarm. The red light flashes every 12 seconds to remind you that the smoke alarm has been silenced and will automatically return to normal mode after about 10 minutes.

Location

The detector should be mounted in the ceiling outside the bedroom or in stairwells. Make sure the smoke alarm sounds in the bedroom when triggered. See “Fig. 2” regarding distances for ceiling (X) or wall (Y) mount.
Avoid placement in the kitchen or near the bathroom where cooking fumes or steam may trigger the alarm.

Assembly / Installation

  1. Carefully remove the mounting plate/base from the smoke alarm, it may be a cable connected. Screw the mounting plate to the ceiling, connect the cable.
  2. Activate the radio board in the base; press and hold the push button on the radio board, see “Fig. 3 A”. Turn on radio board with the switch, see “Fig. 3 B”. The push button (3 A) will now flash rapidly, release push button, press push button again, the button lights up for a while and then go off. The radio board is now activated as a single unit. See user manual if want to use multiple units wireless interconnected.
  3. Align the arrow on the rear of the smoke detector with the arrow inside the mounting plate, when the smoke detector is aligned on the mounting plate turn clockwise until the locking key clicks into place. The smoke alarm is now activated automatically.
  4. Activate the radio learning mode in the Carephone / System
  5. Press test button once, this will send a radio message which can be used to pair the smoke with the carephone.
  6. Confirm programming at the receiver unit.
  7. Configure the desired alarm type on the receiver.
  8. Perform a test of the entire alarm chain by pressing the test button 3 times within 2 minutes to send an alarm, wait for the operator to answer the alarm. Note! Notify the alarm receiving center manager before starting the test.

Cleaning

The detector should be vacuumed regularly, please see user manual for more information. Exterior cleaning shall be made with a damp cloth. Solvents shall not be used.

Battery warning

When the battery is depleted the detector starts to emit short beeps with about 1 minutes intervals and transmits an automatic low battery message to the Carephone. Then the unit has exceed the lifetime of 10 years and must be replaced.
