SAFETY

  • Observe standard workshop safety procedures when using.
  • WARNING! The Fuse blade may become hot during testing. Allow to cool before removing.
  • WARNING! DO NOT exceed Maximum Load: 80A/48V for Max 10sec.
  • Ensure vehicle ignition is switched OFF before connecting or disconnecting.
  • Keep the work area clean, uncluttered and ensure there is adequate lighting. Keep tools and other items away from the engine and ensure you can see the battery and working parts of engine clearly.
  • Maintain correct balance and footing. Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear non-slip shoes.
  • Remove ill fitting clothing. Remove ties, watches, rings and other loose jewellery. Contain or tie back long hair.
  • Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the working area.
  • DO NOT disassemble. Current tester must be checked by qualified service personnel only.
  • DO NOT get wet or use in damp or wet locations or areas where there is condensation.
  • DO NOT use for any purpose other than for which it is designed.
  • DO NOT pull by the cables to free from the fuse terminals.
  • DO NOT operate if damaged.
  • When not in use store in a safe, dry, childproof location.
  • WARNING! The warnings, cautions and instructions referred to in this manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be applied by the operator.

INTRODUCTION

Fast, accurate and safe current measurement at the fuse box. Ideal for fault- finding on car and commercial vehicle electrical circuits. Includes hold and peak functions for detecting current surges. Features large LCD display with digital and graphical current read out. Plugs straight into the vehicle’s fuse board and supplied with Mini, Standard and Maxi style blade adaptors.

OPERATION

  1. Measuring

  2. With the vehicle ignition OFF, remove the fuse from the circuit to be tested and insert it into the fuse jack (fig.1.3), this ensures the correct level of circuit protection.

  3. Insert the plug with the correct adaptor fitted, Maxi: fig.1.1, standard: fig.1.1.1 or mini: fig1.2) into the vehicle fuse socket.

  4. Switch on the vehicle ignition if required, to energise the circuit and then switch on the TA125 fig.1.8.

  5. Operate the circuit under test and the LCD will display the measured current.
    WARNING! The Fuse blade may become hot during testing. Allow to cool before removing.

  6. Peak and Hold Function

  7. The Hold function allows the meter to freeze a measurement for later reference.

  8. The Peak function captures the peak current measured during the test.

  9. Press the HOLD/PEAK button to freeze the reading on the LCD display. The HOLD message will appear in the display.

  10. Press the HOLD/PEAK button again to return to normal operation.

  11. Press the HOLD/PEAK button for 2 seconds, ‘PEAK’ will appear in the display, to return to normal operation, press the HOLD/PEAK button again.

MAINTENANCE

  1. Battery Replacement
  2. Power is supplied by a 9V PP3 battery. The ‘BAT’ symbol appears on the LCD display when replacement is required.
  3. WARNING! To avoid electric shock ensure all inputs are disconnected from any circuit before removing the battery cover.
  4. To replace the battery, remove the screw from the back of the unit and remove the cover.
  5. Remove the exhausted battery and replace with a new one observing the connection polarity. Replace cover.
  6. Cleaning
  7. Clean using a soft damp cloth.
  8. Store in a safe, dry, childproof location.

Weee Regulations
Dispose of this product at the end of its working life in compliance with the EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). When the product is no longer required, it must be disposed of in an environmentally protective way. Contact your local solid waste authority for recycling information.

Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be sorted, taken to a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment. When the product becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any fluids (if applicable) into approved containers and dispose of the product and fluids according to local regulations.
