Installation
Step 1: Check for Proper Orientation
- Ensure the grille is oriented with louvers pitching downward.
Step 2: Aligning Grille with Wall Sleeve
- Back out the (4) mounting screws slightly. Tilt the grille to insert through the wall sleeve and out the back.
Step 3: Mounting Grille to Wall Sleeve
- Line up and insert grille mounting screws into keyhole slots on the back of the wall sleeve.
Step 4: Securing Grille
- Tighten the four mounting screws with a 1/4 nut driver to secure the grille to the wall sleeve.
- Remove the ribbon handle after installation is complete.

INTRODUCTION
- These instructions cover the installation of the Aluminum Architectural Rear Grille accessory for the packaged terminal air conditioner and heat pump.
- The grille securely attaches to the rear of the wall sleeve with four pre-set stainless steel screws.
- This grille is compatible with all RAB71, RAB81, and RAB78 series wall sleeves.
TOOLS NEEDED
- 1/4” Nutdriver • Pliers
CAUTION
- Improper installation of the accessory grille could result in condenser (outdoor) air recirculation.
- This will degrade the performance of the unit and possibly shorten product life.
- The manufacturer does not assume responsibility for the improper installation of the grille resulting in condenser air recirculation.
INSTALLATION
- IMPORTANT: Check For Proper Orientation Before attempting to install the grille, be sure to check it for proper orientation.
- The grille should be oriented with louvers pitching downward.
STEP 1
- Remove the sleeve stiffener. Remove the rear (outside) panel from the room side by bringing the panel through the sleeve into the room.
- To prevent dropping the panel, push out the slit in the center of the outdoor panel to use as a handhold.)
- STEP 2 : Aligning Grille with Wall Sleeve
- Back out the (4) mounting screws approx. 1/4″ to 5/16″.
- Firmly grasp the grille by holding the grille with one hand and the ribbon handle with the other hand.
- Tilt grille to insert through the wall sleeve and out the back of the wall sleeve.
- WARNING When installing the grille, be sure to securely hold it with 2 hands to prevent it from falling and causing injury or damage.
- STEP 3: Mounting Grille to Wall Sleeve
- Line up and insert grille mounting screws into keyhole slots on the back of the wall sleeve.
- STEP 4: Securing Grille
- Tighten the four mounting screws with a 1/4″ nut driver to secure the grille to the wall sleeve.
- Remove the ribbon handle after the installation is complete.
FOR USE WITH DRAIN KITS
- The following modifications must be made to the RAG42AA grille when using the 90° elbow tube or the straight tube.
90° Elbow Tube
- Remove the knockout on the appropriate side using a pair of pliers.
