PRODUCTB INSTLLACTION

Step 1

Begin by laying the plain posts on a flat, level surface and then placing one of the runners, countersinks uppermost on top of it as shown. Use the markings on the runner to correctly space and align the posts at 90° to the runner with the post top flush with the top edge of the runner and fix each one into place with 2 x 70mm coach screws. Repeat for the remaining posts and runner.

Step 2
Product Installation

Use your assistants to lift the 2 post assemblies into the vertical position as shown, parallel to each other and approximately the length of a pre- drilled rafter apart

Step 3
Product Installation

Position a rafter with each end housed against the post and flush with the top of the post as shown. Fix each end into place with 2 x 70mm coach screws

. **Step 4

**

Add the remaining rafter to the other end of the structure in the same manner as before.

Step 5
Product Installation

Add a brace to both sides of each post securing into place with 2 x 60mm woodscrews through the brace into the runner/rafter and a single 70mm woodscrew through the brace into the post.

Step 6
Product Installation

Continue adding braces until all 12 are installed as shown

Step 7

Side the Centre roof runner(s) into place using the predrilled holes on the rafters to position (inset shows double center runner for pergolas ≥4.2M) …

Step 8

then fix into place with 70mm coach screws through the rafter into the ends of the Centre roof runner(s).

Step 9

Choose which end you would like the panel slats then slide the slotted post so that the slot is at the top and the Centre roof runner is housed in the top of the post. Ensure the post is vertical and secure into place with a pair of 60mm screws   through the post into the Centre roof runner as shown. For 4.2M and above with double center runners, line up the solid post and fix in place with 70mm coach screws (see inset).

Step 10

Position 2 of the roof slats (note: these are the longer slats), one at each end of the roof, flush with the edges and secure into place with a pair of 60mm screws at each end and through the center as shown

Step 11

Now take another roof slat and using the 2 roof slat spacer blocks to correctly space it, position it across the roof so the ends are flush with the roof edges and secure into place with a pair of 60mm screws at each end and through the center as shown.

**Step 12

**

Continue adding the rest of the roof slats in the same manner until it is complete – as you approach the final 4-5 slats, manually equalize the spacing to allow for machining tolerances of the timber

Step 13

Position one of the (shorter) panel slats, butted up against the underside of the rafter, ends flush with the posts and fix into place with a pair of 60mm screws at each end and through the center as shown.

Step 14

Position another of the (shorter) panel slats, this time flush against the ground, ends flush with the posts. Measure from the bottom edge of the top panel slat from Step 13 to the top edge of this slat and ensure this is the same for both sides before fixing into place with a pair of 60mm screws at each end and through the center as shown

Step 15

Now take another panel slat and using the 2 x Panel slat spacer blocks (marked with a star) to correctly space it, position it above the lower panel slat so the ends are flush with the post and secure into place with a pair of 60mm screws at each end and through the center as shown.

Step 16
Product Installation

Add the remaining panel slats in the same fashion, again manually equalize the spacing to allow for machining tolerances of the timber as you approach the final 4-5 slats. Your Rutland Shade Pergola is now complete.
