  • Read and familiarise yourself with all operating instructions before using this Vacuum Cleaner.
  • Before plugging your unit into the mains, visually check that the unit is intact and has not suffered any transit damage.
  • Check that the voltage indicated on the data plate corresponds with that of the local network before connecting the appliance to the main power supply.
  • This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years old when it is energised or cooling down.

  • Ensure fingers and other objects are never placed in any part of the vacuum cleaner. Clothing or hair may become trapped if the vacuum is used improperly.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, jewellery, fingers and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Keep all air vents clear and free of dust, lint, hair and anything else that may reduce airflow.
  • Avoid directing the appliance towards naked flames as the air discharged may extinguish gas fires or pilot lights and may disturb ashes in open fires.
  • DO NOT Vacuum water or any other liquids with this vacuum.
  • DO NOT Vacuum hot ashes or lit cigarettes, etc.

Assembling Your Vacuum Cleaner
Assemble your vacuum cleaner using the guide below:

  • Insert the main body into the Motorised Floor Tool (7) as shown in ‘A’ above.
  • Insert the Handle section (1) into the top of the main section as shown in ‘B’ above.
  • Attached is the Motor Unit (6) to the main body as shown in ‘C’ above and push it against the Handle section (1) until it clicks home.
  • Finally wrap the Mains Cable (4) around the cable tidies on the rear of the unit, the top Adjustable Cable Tidy (2) can be rotated downwards to help removal of the mains cable before use.

Before first using Your Vacuum Cleaner
Remove all packing materials and discard them responsibly. Ensure that all parts are present – See Description of Parts above and that there is no damage to any component or the mains cable.
Using Your Vacuum Cleaner

  1. Once you have assembled your vacuum cleaner, fully unravel the Mains Cable (4) and insert the mains plug into the nearest socket.
  2. To operate the vacuum cleaner, grip the vacuum by the Handle (1) and press the On/Off Switch (13) at the top of the Motor Unit (6) to the ‘I’ position as shown arrowed right
  3. Place your foot gently on the Motorised Floor Tool (7) pull the cleaner back by the Handle (1) and start vacuum cleaning

For ease of use, hook the Mains Cable (4) over the Cable Hook (3).

Removing the Motor Unit for Handheld Use

To use your vacuum cleaner handheld, remove the Motor Unit (6) by holding the Motor Unit Handle (5) and pressing the Motor Unit Release Button (14)

Attaching the Tools to the Motor Unit (6)

  1. Once the Motor Unit (6) is removed attach the Floor Tool (18) as shown right, this is useful for cleaning hard-to-get-at areas, such as the stairs, etc.: Adjust the lever on the Floor Tool (18) according to the type of floor being cleaned. Push the lever down for use on hard floors (i.e. non non-carpeted), and pull the lever up for vacuum cleaning carpets. Press the button (arrowed) to remove it from the Motor Unit (6).

  2. Attach the Upholstery Tool/Brush (19) to the Motor Unit (6) to clean Sofas, Chairs, Mattresses, Cushions, etc. as shown left
    If the brush attachment is not required on the Upholstery Tool/Brush (19), press the catch on the top of the tool to release and remove the brush as shown right

  3. Attach the Crevice Tool (17) to the Motor Unit (6) to clean carpet edges, stairs and other hard-to-reach areas as shown left

  4. Reassemble the vacuum after use and wrap the Mains Cable (4) around the cable tidies as shown right and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlightDAEWOO-FLR00131-Tornado-Vacuum-fig-17

Emptying and Cleaning Your Vacuum Cleaner

WARNING! Always disconnect the cleaner from the mains power supply before cleaning

  1. Once the dust level reaches the ‘MAX’ mark on the Dust Compartment (10), it will require emptying and the Filter Assembly (11) cleaned
    WARNING! DO NOT continue to use the vacuum cleaner once the ‘MAX’ mark has been reached as permanent damage may occur to the appliance and may also invalidate your warranty

  2. To empty the cleaner, release the Motor Unit (6) by pressing the Motor Unit Release Button (14). Hold the Motor Unit (6) over a waste bin. Prise the Dust Release Catch (9) downwards to allow the base of the Dust Compartment (10) to swing open and release the dust into the waste bin. As shown belowDAEWOO-FLR00131-Tornado-Vacuum-fig-19
    Once all the dust has been emptied, push the base of the Dust Compartment (10) close
    Cleaning the Filter Assembly (11)

  3. Press the Dust Compartment Release Button (12 – arrowed) to separate the Dust Compartment (10) from the motor unit as shown below:
    Right: Support the Dust Compartment (10) as the Dust Compartment Release Button (12) is pressed to prevent it falling away from the Motor Unit (6).

  4. Remove the Filter Assembly (11) as shown below:DAEWOO-FLR00131-Tornado-Vacuum-fig-21
    a. Lift the Filter Assembly (11) out of the Dust Compartment (10).
    b. & c. Separate the Hepa Filter from the Cyclonic Filter.

  5. Wash the Hepa and Cyclonic Filters in warm running water until clean. Allow the filters to dry thoroughly for 24 hours before replacing. The cyclonic filter can be dismantled further for deeper cleaning if desired by removing the screws.   6. Reassemble the Filter Assembly (11) as shown above. Ensure that the two lugs on the Cyclonic Filter (see inset above arrowed) align with the two notches at the back of the Dust Compartment (10). Replace the Hepa Filter on top of the Cyclonic FilterDAEWOO-FLR00131-Tornado-Vacuum-fig-23

  7. Reattach the Dust Compartment (10) to the Motor Unit (6) as shown below. Hook the rear of the Dust Compartment (10) onto the Motor Unit (6). Push the two parts together until the release catch clicks home
    WARNING! DO NOT use your vacuum cleaner without the filters fitted as this will cause permanent damage to the cleaner and may invalidate your warranty

  8. Press the two Air Outlet Cover Release Buttons (15) and remove the Air Outlet Cover (16) as shown left: Remove the outlet filter from inside the Air Outlet Cover (16) and wash in warm running water until clean. Allow the filter to dry thoroughly for 24 hours before replacing

  9. Once dry, replace the outlet filter into the Air Outlet Cover (16) and push the cover back into place as above shown right:DAEWOO-FLR00131-Tornado-Vacuum-fig-26

Dismantling Your Vacuum Cleaner
To remove the Handle (1) from the main body press the Handle release catch on the rear of the vacuum and remove the Handle (1) as shown right: To remove the Motorised Floor Tool (7), press the Floor Tool Release Button (8) and remove.

Removing and Replacing the Floor Brush

Remove the floor brush from the Motorised Floor Tool (7) using the guide below

  • Push the retaining clip catch towards the front of the Motorised Floor Tool (7).
  • Remove the retaining clip
  • Remove the floor brush from the Motorised Floor Tool (7) and clean it by removing hairs and fluff, etc.

Follow the reverse of the above procedure to replace the floor brush. At one end of the floor brush ensure the triangular lug in the Motorised Floor Tool (7) fits into the triangular recess in the floor brush as below:DAEWOO-

Ensure the square lug at the other end of the floor brush sits square in the Motorised Floor Tool (7) as below before refitting the retaining clip

Left: Whilst replacing the floor brush, ensure the square lug at the other end of the brush (shown arrowed left) fits into the recess in the Motorised Floor Tool (7). Refit the retaining clip

Care and Maintenace

of Your Vacuum Cleaner

  • Always disconnect the cleaner from the mains power supply before cleaning.
  • Clean the outside of the cleaner with a clean damp cloth. Never clean with harsh or abrasive cleaners.
  • Do not submerge the cleaner or its main cable in water or any other liquids.
  • Empty the Dust Compartment (10) as soon as the ‘MAX’ mark has been reached.*
  • Wash the Filter Assembly (11) regularly – see above and the table below.
  • Allow the filters to thoroughly dry out for 24 hours before reassembly and use

WARNING! DO NOT continue to use your vacuum cleaner once the ‘MAX’ mark has been reached as permanent damage may occur to the appliance which may invalidate your warranty.

Troubleshooting Guide

Non-Rewireable Mains Plug
If your appliance is supplied with a non-rewireable plug fitted to the mains lead and should the fuse need replacing, you must use an ASTA-approved one (conforming to BS 1362 of the same rating). Never use a plug with the fuse cover missing. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
If you need to remove the plug – DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS – and then cut it off the mains lead and immediately dispose of it safely. Never attempt to reuse the plug or insert it into a socket outlet as there is a danger of electric shock.
