FAQ

  • How do I know if the battery needs to be replaced?
If the Low Battery LED illuminates for 3 seconds after each operation, it indicates that the battery needs replacement.

Operation

  • Press any of the switches to operate.
  • The Transmitter will auto-sleep between operations to save power.
  • RF Transmit GREEN LED operates when TRAP is transmitting an RF signal.

RF Acknowledge (if configured):

  • GREEN LED will flash at high speed to indicate that an acknowledgment has successfully been received back from the receiver.
  • The RED LED will flash at high speed to indicate that an acknowledgment has not been received back from the receiver.
  • Low Battery: If the battery requires replacing, Low Battery
  • LED illuminates for 3 seconds after each operation.

Replacing transmitter batteries:

Configuring Modes of Operation
  • To configure the modes of operation, undo the six enclosure fixing screws to access the internal circuit board.
  • The SET switch is used to configure the operating modes.
  • Note: Please also see the Video on our website!

The Following Modes can be configured using the Switch

  1. RF Mode of transmission
  2. Acknowledgement back from the receiver
  3. Continuous or State Change transmission

Transmitters are factory Settings

Transmitters are factory shipped with the following Settings

RF Transmission LoRa 3
Acknowledgment OFF
Transmission Type Continuous

Restore to Factory Default Settings

To Set Continuous or State Change RF Transmissions

  • When a switch button is operated the transmitter will transmit a “Button Down” RF signal.
  • When a switch button is released the transmitter will transmit a “Button Up” RF signal.

Continuous Transmit

  • When the transmitter button is pressed the “button Down” RF signal is repeated in short bursts for as long as the button is pressed.
  • If the Acknowledgment request is ON the receiver will reply after each RF signal.
  • This is ideally suited to momentary operations where the receiver output needs to be active as long as the user presses down a TRAP Button.

State Change Transmit

  • When the transmitter button is pressed the “button Down” RF signal is sent a maximum of 4 times. (this can be seen as 4 x Green RF Transmissions).
  • When the transmitter buttons are released the “button Up” RF signal is sent a maximum of 4 times. (this can be seen as 4 x Green RF Transmissions)
  • If the Acknowledgment request is ON and no acknowledgement received after the fourth RF Transmission, the Red Ack fail LED will flash
  • If the acknowledgment is received the High Speed Green LED will flash and the Transmitter will cease to send any of the remaining 4 unsent RF transmissions

To Set Acknowledgement Request

  • The acknowledgement feature provides the user with an LED indication that the receiver has successfully received the transmitter’s signal.
  • When activated the Transmitter includes an acknowledgement request from the receiver within each radio transmission.
  • The response from the receiver is indicated on the transmitter via the acknowledge LED RED (no acknowledge received)
  • High-speed GREEN flash (acknowledge received).

RF Acknowledgment from Receiver – Warning!
When Acknowledgement is ON, the transmitter requests an RF signal back from the receiver. Whilst in theory, if an RF signal can be transmitted one way then it can be returned, in practice occasionally the received acknowledgement may not penetrate as well as the transmitter’s signal.

To Set the RF Transmission Mode

This sets the type of RF Transmission.

Possible options are

  • 868MHz: FM, or LORA Modes 1 – 4
  • 918MHz: LORA Modes 1 – 4

FM or LORA mode 1 provides the quickest response; from the Transmitter switch (Sw) pressed to the Receiver Relay output.

Notes

  1. The range is dependent on many factors including the mode of transmission. Range can be reduced by 75% in built-up areas with poor antenna and environmental conditions.
  2. Battery life quoted is approximate based on 30 operations per day.
