How to attach a canister
WARNING
- Do not use anything other than the designated canisters listed above. Please note that if you use a canister that is not specified, you will not be covered by product warranty and repair.
- Before attaching the canister, be sure to check the mounting screw (connection point) of the instrument plug and the O-ring for any abnormalities. Do not attach the canister if any abnormality is found.
CAUTION
- Install with the canister upright (valve up).
- A small amount of gas may leak when installing or removing the canister. Do not attach or detach the canister near fire or in a space with poor ventilation.
-
Make sure that the main body has cooled, then push the handle lock pin with the tip of your fingernail to open the handle in the direction of the arrow as shown in the figure. When you open the handle completely, you will hear a click and it will lock into place.
-
Turn the instrument stopper knob clockwise until it stops, to ensure the flow is completely shut off.
-
Ensure the canister is level, align the threaded part of the canister with the threaded part of the main body, and smoothly screw clockwise, as shown in the figure. Ensure the bottom of the handle touches the edge of the canister. Ensure there is no odor or gas leaking from the connection.
How to operate
After installing the canister, ensure there is no continuous noise or
offensive odor from the main unit plug and connection point. Check to make
sure gas is not leaking. If gas is leaking, stop using it immediately and

If you use a canister not specified above, you will not be covered by the product warranty and repair. Canisters other than those above have different specifications such as valve shape and nozzle thickness. Because of the differences in basic design, gas leaks may occur, causing ignition, fire or abnormal combustion.
Canisters from other manufacturers
-
Never repair or modify this product by yourself. This product and canister are made with professional precision. Modifications not only reduce performance but can also cause incomplete combustion and gas leaks. For repairs, contact the store where the product was purchased or Snow Peak customer service.
-
Always check that no gas is leaking before igniting.
Ensure the stopper knob is closed before attaching the canister. After installing the canister, ensure there is no gas leaking at the connection before igniting. Igniting when there is a gas leak may cause burns due to abnormal combustion or poisoning. If you notice any abnormality, stop using the product immediately and contact the store where you purchased the product or Snow Peak customer service. -
Do not intentionally inhale the gas in the canister. If you inhale gas intentionally, you will suffocate due to a lack of oxygen.
-
Never refill the canister. The special canister is not designed to be refilled after its initial factory fill.
-
Store the canister in a place below 40 C/104 F. The internal pressure of the canister rises as the outside air temperature increases. Do not store in places where the temperature exceeds 40 C/104 F, such as in a car or in direct sunlight.
WARNING
This symbol indicates that if mishandled, the user bears the risk of dying or
being seriously injured.
-
Do not use, leave, or store this product with the canister attached, on surfaces that are 40 C/104 F. or warmer. Sandy beaches, stony riverbeds, or paved roads exposed to direct sunlight are hotter than the outside temperature. If the canister is left on or this product is used, the canister may overheat and the internal pressure may rise sharply, causing abnormal combustion or explosion.
-
Be sure to hold the handle while using this product.
Be sure to hold the handle to ensure a safe grip of the product. In addition, if the canister is left sitting in place, the internal pressure of the container may rise sharply due to the radiant heat of the fire or a change in the direction of the wind, causing abnormal combustion or explosion. Also, even if you hold it by the handle, immediately extinguish the fire and stop using it if abnormal combustion occurs. -
Do not point the torch at anyone.
-
Do not leave near other heat sources such as heaters and bonfires.
The heat from external sources causes abnormal heating and a rapid increase in the internal pressure of the canister, potentially resulting in an explosion. -
Before connecting the canister, be sure to turn the instrument stopper knob clockwise when looking at it from the front and check that the instrument plug is closed.
The instrument plug may open during storage or transportation. Make sure the instrument stopper is tightly closed when connecting the canister. -
After use, face the instrument stopper knob and turn it clockwise until closed. Always remove the canister before storing it.
If the instrument stopper knob is not closed, gas may flow out little by little and there is a risk of ignition. Also, if the canister is left attached to the main body for long periods, gas may leak. -
When attaching or detaching the canister, keep it upright and do not over-tighten it.
The new canister is completely full of liquid gas. If it is attached at an angle, liquid gas may spurt out vigorously, which is extremely dangerous. Make sure that there is no fire in the surrounding area, and install the canister in an upright position. The connecting screws are a very important part. Forcibly attaching or detaching the canister, or screwing it in at an angle may damage the connection and cause a gas leak. -
Check the O-ring (a replaceable piece) at the connection part each time you use it. ****The rubber O-ring wears when the canister is attached or detached. In addition, it deteriorates even if it is not used. Using a damaged or deteriorated O-ring may cause gas leakage. If it is damaged or deteriorated, stop using it immediately and contact the store where you purchased it or our user service.
-
Do not surround this product with windshields, stones, or other barriers.
If you surround this product with a windshield, stones, or other barriers, the canister will absorb heat abnormally. Abnormal temperature increases cause a risk of explosion. -
Keep the product at least 2 meters (6.5’) away from flammable objects at all times.
The heat of the flame flows laterally or downward depending on the wind’s direction. Since it is strongly transmitted upward, keep a sufficient distance between the product and flammable objects to avoid the risk of fire.
-
Do not use this product for any purpose other than starting a fire.
Using this product for anything other than starting a fire, such as heating or drying clothes, may lead to unexpected accidents such as fire, burns, and lack of oxygen. -
Due to the risk of explosion, please dispose of the canister separately from other garbage after it is completely empty. Also, remove the canister when you plan not to use this product for a long time. Put the main body in the storage case, and attach a cap to the canister before storing.
Improper disposal may result in gas leakage causing ignition, fire, or abnormal combustion. If dust or dirt adheres to the main body and the connection screw of the
canister, it may cause it to malfunction.
-
Do not throw an empty canister into a fire or place it near other heat sources.
A small amount of gas will remain even in an empty canister. If you throw it in a fire or place it near another heat source, the internal pressure will rise and it may explode. -
Keep out of the reach of children.
Keep this product and canister out of the reach of children to ensure safety.
-
If the product is dropped or undergoes significant impact, contact the store where you purchased the product or our customer service for inspection even if there is no visible damage.
Internal problems may occur due to deformation or damage from impact.
****CAUTION
This symbol indicates that if the product is mishandled, the user risks injury and may cause damage to the surroundings.
-
Be sure to push the lock pin to secure the handle before opening and closing.
If you try to turn the handle forcibly while it is locked, the handle will be damaged. -
Be sure to inspect the canister before use.
Check the canister before use and before storage. Since gas is enclosed, there is a risk of gas leakage. If there are scratches, dents, rust, etc. on the exterior of the canister, do not use it. -
After use, inspect and clean this product before placing in the storage case.
Moisture or debris may adhere to this product causing the nozzle to clog or rust, potentially resulting in malfunction. Inspect and clean the product so that no problems will occur the next time you use it.
-
Canisters cannot be carried on an aircraft.
By law, gas canisters cannot be carried on an aircraft. -
The main body and each part of the product will become very hot for a considerable amount of time, both during and after use. Please practice caution and be careful to avoid burns.
-
Do not attach or detach the canister near a fire or in a poorly ventilated space.
A small amount of gas may leak when attaching or removing the canister, which may cause flames to ignite, or a lack of oxygen. -
Forcibly attaching or detaching the canister will damage the connection.
