- The remaining battery life of the speaker is always visible in the application.
- Charging contacts – Make sure that the speaker is properly seated in the base and that the charging contacts are touching.
- Note: The microphone needs to be on for auto-tuning, so if you don’t leave it on all the time, turn it on for a few minutes each time you move the speaker so it can automatically adjust the sound for your new surroundings.
- Note: Do not use or store Sonos products upside down.
Trueplay (not available on all products)
- Trueplay tuning balances the sound wherever you place the speaker, but to make the speaker project sound as effectively as possible, there are a few guidelines to follow:
- For optimum sound quality, the speaker should be placed indoors and have a clear space above it.
- Placement in an enclosed space, such as a shelf, is not recommended as it could affect dispersion and clarity of playback, except for the Sonos Ray product, which is specifically designed for this proctor,
- If you are mounting the speaker from the ceiling, place it upside down to get the best sound.
- If the speaker is placed against a wall or on a shelf, leave at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) of clearance around the back and 8 inches (203 mm) on each side of the speaker.
- When using the speakers as surround speakers, leave around the back and at least 8 inches (203 mm) of free space on the sides of each speaker.
- Note: Do not place the speaker vertically or at a steep angle or the sound will stop.
Trueplay test
- Trueplay tuning measures how sound reflects off walls, furniture, and other surfaces in the room, then tunes your Sonos speaker to sound great no matter where you place it.
- During setup, select the Trueplay tuning option that best suits you and your space.
- To retune later, go to Settings > System, select the room, and choose Trueplay.
- Note: If VoiceOver is enabled on your iOS device, Trueplay debugging is not available. Before you start tuning your speakers, turn it off in your device settings.
Advanced tuning
- Advanced tuning is precise and tailored. It takes about 5 minutes to use the microphone on your iOS device (running iOS 8 or later) while you move around the room.
- This ensures the sound is tuned for your space.
- Note: Advanced tuning is the best choice for large rooms (tuning may be less accurate in open spaces).
Fast debugging
- Quick tuning is fast, easy, and affordable. It takes about a minute and uses the microphone on the Sonos product to detect the environment, so you don’t have to move around the room during tuning.
- Note: Quick Tune is available for both iOS and Android and is a good option for smaller rooms or spaces that are difficult to move around easily.
- Auto-tuning Trueplay
- Portable Sonos products such as Sonos Roam and Move can tune in automatically.
- Trueplay auto-tuning uses your speaker’s microphone to detect your environment and adjusts the tuning periodically to ensure you get great sound no matter where your speaker is or what you’re listening to.
- Go to > System and select your portable speaker to turn on auto-tuning Trueplay.
Bluetooth pairing
- Turn Bluetooth on in your device settings.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the back of the speaker until you hear a tone, and then release it. The status light flashes blue and the speaker is ready for pairing.
- Select a product from the list of available devices in your Bluetooth settings.
Turn the microphone on/off
- The microphone is used for voice control and automatic Trueplay tuning. Touch the to turn the microphone on or off.
- When the microphone light is on,
- If you have a voice assistant, voice control is on and your voice assistant is ready.
- Auto-tuning Trueplay is enabled so that Move can automatically adjust its sound to your surroundings.
- When the microphone light is not on,
- If you have a voice assistant, voice control is switched off.
- Auto-tuning Trueplay is disabled.
